    I love that you mentioned that you can get may kitchen utensils secondhand. This is always a great way to save money and reduce waste. Great video!

    I use an immersion blender to puree hot soups. It is so much easier than transferring hot soup to a stand-alone blender.

      Yes, it is a great option! I find the soup goes super silky in my vitamix though and when I make soups from roasted veg I like to use it as it is convenient :)

    Really found this video super helpful. I absolutely love your channel and have watched so many videos. I find you so kind, down to earth and you share so many tips and AMAZING recipes. I’m fairly new to a vegan diet and have found your videos just what I need! 💜

    When you were talking about cutting boards I realised how being vegetarian (not yet fully vegan..ah, the cheese..) is making me feel so much safer in the kitchen! I mean, I don't have to be worry about harmful bacteria from meat, I can check the taste of raw mix for vegan burgers or no-meat balls..it's such a relief 😁 great video Malin, as always I watched it with pleasure ❤ have a nice day!
    PS. Rob, please, I need an episode about coffee routine 🙏🙏🙏

    • @GoodEatings
      @GoodEatings  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, it does cut out some things that others need to think about in the kitchen for sure. A small perk :) Glad you liked the video and I'll let Rob know :D

  • @lindsaytoussaint
    @lindsaytoussaint 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    1. Rob, we* definitely want a coffee routine video! 😄
    2. This is a great rundown of important stuff to have. I appreciate your point about being intentional with the high-price items. Myself I got a mid price item that is still doing well so I don’t want to replace it BUT if I had waited until I could buy the high end item I knew would suit my needs better, I would’ve had something longer lasting and more efficient.
    * by “we” I mean me because I’m a coffee obsessed person 😄 ☕️

    • @GoodEatings
      @GoodEatings  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'll let Rob know that WE want a coffee chat! :D
      And yes, sometimes it's good to save up for that pricier item if you know it's something you're going to use for many years to come but other times the budget is what it is and a budget or mid-range appliance will bring us equal amounts of cooking joy! Also it's always a great idea to check the second hand market, you never know what you'll find :) That's how we got quite a few items of furniture for our home! :)

    For a budget food processor that's enough for 1-3 people in servings, my ninja food processor (plug in, push down the button; hold for full processing, release frequently for quick chops) was like £45 on Amazon and it works well!

    I have got a magimix food processor, after 32 years of using it most days I have bought a new one. I can recommend it, especially for cooking whole plant based foods; it will make cooking easier. It is a investment, looking long term; money well spend. Also makes amazing nut butters 😉

    • @GoodEatings
      @GoodEatings  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Agree, long term it is definitely money well spent. We use ours all the time! I'm glad to hear your first one lasted 32 year, I'm crossing my fingers ours will stick around for just as long :D

    Thanks for sharing this video. I have a good selection of knives and 2 chopping boards. I also have a food processor and hand blender. It was great to go over budget options because not everyone can afford Magimix and Vitamix products.I have one big pan I use a lot and 2 smaller sauce pans and a frying pan and a wok. I also love 😍 my slow cooker. Love 🥰 the video and love 💕 Malin & Rob.

    Happy Sunday to you and Rob :) ! I was delighted to watch your video while enjoying my breakfast bowl of oat groats, fruits, flax, and greens. And thank you for the links...I'd love to have that immersion blender! Speaking of my oat groats, I also find my Instant Pot (IP) to be VERY useful in the kitchen. I have the 8 quart size so I have the option of making larger batches of things for the week. I use it weekly for cooking oat groats, rice and other grains, steaming potatoes, and cooking beans. It ALWAYS gets the beans perfectly cooked; I soak the beans overnight then cook them with fresh water and a 3 inch piece of kombu to help the beans be easily digestible. I have a friend who makes vegan yogurt in hers! If anyone's interested, I highly recommend a book called Vegan Under Pressure by Jill Nussinow. It has wonderful recipes and invaluable cooking charts for beans, veggies, whole grains, potatoes, etc along with tips for cooking larger amounts (like with grains you don't want to just double the water if doubling the grains because they'll turn out too watery). Anyway, those charts alone were worth the cost of the book! Thank you, Malin! It's always lovely to see you. Off topic, I admire your yoga practice. I lift weights and do cardio, but I REALLY need beginner level flexibility work (not too intense or I might snap, lol!). If you can rec a channel/instructor here on YT I'd really appreciate it. xx :)

      @GoodEatings  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Happy, happy even though it's Tuesday today when I reply to your lovely message :) I have heard many good things about the instant pot and we are definitely considering getting a pressure cooker. So convenient for beans. Thanks for the book tip, I'll check it out!
      How lovely that you want to try some yoga! I think Yoga with Adrienne her on youtube is great for beginners :) I also like Shona Vertue for her short sequences. There's also Lottie Murphy who is a pilates instructor who has some lovely stretches on her channel too. I hope you find these useful! :) xx

      @@GoodEatings thank you so much 🥰! Those sound perfect for me. I have searched and seen a few of Adrienne’s (she seems so laid back and relaxed 😎) so I’ll hunt around for beginner ones from her. And thank you for also recommending the others … I like the idea of short sequences to get started. And I would love to try Pilates too and see how it differs from yoga. Thank you, Malin 💝!

      @GoodEatings  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      We have considered buying a pressure cooker and even had one for a while which cut cooking time for beans for sure. It is a great item for vegans to have on hand, especially if you eat a lot of legumes1 Thanks for adding to my list :)

      @@GoodEatings Skol! My grandfather was an American born pure Swede. He drove his Volvo. And we had the little candle Christmas chime which fascinated me as a kid. I didn't realize the cheese slicer is a Swedish thing I thought everyone has one.
      It's fun to watch you in your kitchen mentioning Swedish things every once in while - with your accent. Cheers and good health to both of you.

    I don't know who invented that with sharp knives you cut yourself less..I sharpened my knife and cut myself pretty straight away with blood coming out... usually I cut myself superficially and no blood comes so I am never sharpening my blades nope..not for me.
