      @@AgaetiAlex well, yeah changes will need to be made... but since they're already thinking more power and a built transmission/gearbox ... I assumed getting away from bags and going to a static set-up wouldn't be outside the realm of reality

    I’d love to see this thing at the track, especially with the massive swan neck wing and diffuser. However there are the cosmetic mods that won’t benefit it much on track, mainly the airbags instead of coilovers. Also, not having a flat underbody with the diffuser makes the diffuser nearly worthless. It’d be cool to see this thing switched to a full track/road course set up.

      Why can't it be a street car? That's where it belongs IMO. Just cuz the motor can handle more, if you switch to road course setup, you'd hafta change bags to coilovers, switch trans and clutch out, give it a flat bottom, remove the AC and stereo eqpt, give it a flat bottom. Seems like doing too much. I'd leave it as is, a STREET car, that occasionally goes to the track.

      theres a dude in my area in the netherlands that has a red 98 gsx and his makes 850 to the wheels rn and i didnt believe him until he strapped it to a dyno and showed 850 wheel hp
      the car is insane full cage and full interior still
      its so fucking cool and clean too

    Being a 14 year DSM veteran with a 9 second street car, the more HP you want, the prices to upkeep it rises exponentially, not linearly.
    All the basic "built" transmissions for these are nothing more than OEM gears with some tighter preloads and surface treatment, above 400ft-lbs of torque its not a question of IF it will break but WHEN. The only true solution to this is to either go auto or a PPG dogbox, either is looking at thousands of dollars to be reliable.
    But WAIT! There's more. It doesn't stop at the transmission, once you upgrade that, the rest of the drivetrain is a liability waiting to happen. Now the next thing to go are the rear axles, add $1300 minimum for a set that are worth a damn. Next comes the transfer case, add $1500+ for a basic build 300m transfer case. Now your stock drive shaft also doesn't fit the new upgraded transfer case, so add one of those to the list, drop another stack. Now you better get a billet/girdled rear diff cover if you plan to launch it or you'll be chasing down another used one and probably destroy those built axles when the diff rips off from the rear subframe because the stock cover is cast aluminum and the mounting ears rip off.
    All of this only touches on the some of the drivetrain and TH-cam comment sections are way too short to cover everything lol.
    These cars come with the notion that they cheap to make fast, that is hardly the case. They are cheap to make fast for a very short amount of time but if you want a DSM that can run all weekend long at a track event or not shatter on that trip to Mexico in front of everyone, it's a very expensive and tedious car to build properly.
    TL:DR = you want big power, dump big money into it.

      Yup your right dsm are prone to break down but man are they fun lol. It's the one thing that was getting me out of mine beside it getting stolen. I don't know who's says they're cheap to make fast. It's not a Honda I think if I remember my re built 6bolt bottom end with the 97 head with cams and everything ran me 8k when it came down to it . And just for shy of 500hp. And like you mention a lot of maintenance to keep it as a daily driver with out to much beating on it .

      Literally living through this right now with my first 2G dsm build 😭. And with parts being on back order it’s been like 7months and counting waiting or the PPG gears to come in 😭.

    This car deserves even more love, personally i would love to see more videos of upgrades to this car and break 500HP, more if possible. Devin Niemela has done it with his blue Evo. So all of you can do it to.

      The engine stock has been known to make over 500whp with out being built. they already have all the mod's needed to break over 500hp and keep going. With the parts they put into building that engine it should be good for 1000hp, with more fuel and turbo upgrades.

    AWD and track only? Build it! I would like to see what it can do on the track as is, but then take it to the limit. Build the trans, 3000GT diff, big turbo, etc. Loving this build!

    As much as that motor can handle, I still think it would be awesome if the car could be “plated” and drive it more than just as the strip. Imagine driving it around town! One look of that thing on the street and almost any “non-car guy” or even kids would be amazed and new car enthusiasts will be born.

    The OG F&F is what took my interest in cars and turned it into a full blown obsession. Seeing builds like this just brings me back to how excited I was to discover how epic the world of cars is.

    Yank the engine, sideline the 7 bolt block. Keep for a backup? Get a 6bolt block, keep your 7 bolt head, get it drilled to 13mm to fit on the 6bolt block. Get the trigger kit for the timing. On the 6bolt block, get a Kiggly main girdle, kiggly hla for oil flow control on the head. Over sized valves, kiggly springs and retainers. L19 Arps, for the head and crank. Do the oil gallery mod before you put the front case on, so the oil flow will not be restricted. Delete the balance shafts. Do the tear drop mod on the head as well, again to keep the oil flowing properly. Piston and Rods of course I think you guys could pick out a decent set. Cam Gears, with cams so they can get degreed so you can actually make power and use the cams for which they were designed. That is how you build a bullet proof setup, that is race proven. Or, the shifter you put in the car? Get their all billet 4G63 setup “Red Demon Spec”? Worlds fastest 4G63. Used to be the World’s fastest H pattern shifted car. He’s in the 6’s right now.

      @@danyo8023 thought he ran 6’s just a few days ago? He ran a 7.01 in the new Red Demon at his Home track. He uses a Billet block, so him in particular being 6 or 7 bolt doesn’t really matter if you have a full billet block. But he’s run 6 and 7 bolt blocks, not sure what the billet block he uses now is modeled after? The 6 bolt block can be built to Red Demon Spec with the factory crank, the 7 bolt needs a billet crank to be as strong as the 6 bolt.

      @@BoostedCajun he runs 6s in the GTR. When I talked to him he told me he's only ever run 7 bolt blocks in the Demon. V1 and V2. Since day 1 of him racing V1. From it being a simple Gt35r car

      @@danyo8023 that’s because 6 bolts have a different orientation, and it wouldn’t fit in the chassis, without extensive fab work. If you had read what I said above? You’d had seen that I said about the 6-7 bolt blocks and what chassis’s they fit it and don’t fit in. The Red Demon has a billet block, so it being 6 or 7 bolt? It’s irrelevant at this point. On a street car where you can’t afford a billet block? 6 Bolt’s are king, you can build a 7 bolt to make power, but it’s not nearly as strong as the 6 bolt bottom end wise. Also the 7bolts that are in DSM’s aren’t the same engine as the Evo 7 bolt. The 7 bolt head is better flowing no doubt over the 6 bolt head. All Evo’s 4-9th generation have the revised 7bolt, with the cams on the passenger side. The Red Demon will see 6’s this year for sure. Also John Shepherd was running 7’s with a 6bolt block and was only beaten a few years ago by the Red Demon. He held the DSM record since the early 2000’s. He was the Man to beat back in the day. According to all the DSM/Evo forums, the red demon when it was running cast blocks was always a 6bolt.

    I saw this car in Sema and love, love , love it. I believe you guys said that the turbo is an FP red. I have an FP Green and making 500hp so to see your dyno run about 400hp is interesting. Maybe when the clutch grabs it will make more power. I would like to see more of the car and it's full potential with the current setup before upgrading everything. Once you get the small issues fixed, i bet you'll be very impressed. These engines are beasts once dialed in.

    I'd say go ham on it Forged Performance makes some awesome turbos, definitely make sure oil temp and pressure is good we noticed pressure issues and temp issues with my buddies evo so we installed an oil cooler and accusump :) definitely some good numbers sounds awesome!!!

    I say a good quality built engine tuned and putting out 500 plus HP. Then throttle it down to a respectable 450hp. Nice Garrett turbo G25-550, Haltech ecu, Elite 1500 + Mitsubishi EVO 4-8 (5 Speed) Plug 'n' Play Adaptor Harness Kit, etc. Just build it to be right on the edge of OMG with good parts and never die attitude. 450hp in that car built the right way would be a dream to have and own. Putting to much HP in a small lite weight JDM sports car begins to take away the enjoyment. Keep it going in the right direction you all are taking it to. It is a legendary car and should be refined and pure. 500 plus hp just begins to be unnecessary for what it is. Keep it clean, keep it reliable, keep it fun to drive, I love it and where you have taken it and what it sounds like your doing next is cool to imagine. Love the build, love the car. That green is sick!

    Personally i love everything on the car except the wing and rear bumper. I like super clean and functional but other than that this did a superb job on this. Met mickey and evan along with dust n teej and the gang at tuner evo ny couple years back. Everyone on camera was just as genuine off camera. Super dope ppl.

    I'd love to see a big xona rotor turbocharger, fuel tech 5 series and either raif built by tre dog box or Jack's transmission. Dog box making 40 lb of boost!. Love the eclipse build one of my favorite cars today

    Car sounds the way the movie made it sound" was not actually the eclipse, it was dubbed with some other cars" but its now how it should and did in the movie. LOVE IT!! If the motor was built to handle more then by all means use it to its potential!!!

    Loved driving my 97 gsx. Had a evo turbo ported,hks 272 cams on both sides. Built motor on pump gas running almost 500hp. I would have thought on e85 would have been higher but probably alot of loss out the clutch. I ran a act2600 clutch and was great was a heavy pedal but nothing that couldn't be driven daily. And the act superlite flywheel. Great build love seeing this makes me miss mine. Also 20psi isn't that much for a gsx/evo. I thi k mine was at around 22psi. Can't wait to see what you guys come up with.

    Go ham on it for sure, definitely would be cool to get some as is baseline data though. Whether that’s a circuit track lap times or drag strip. Then come back and do the same testing after it’s built.

    Go Ham all the way! Also you should talk to Chris over at FlyRide and see if he can do a custom converted rear lightbar. I've seen it done a few times where people retrofit the tail lights with LED lighting through the whole rear tail section and it looks sooooo good having the full thing lit up verse the mid section just being a fake "light".

    Looks great and very good work. As you can see, not bad thing to have a set of weaker or stronger springs for the wastegate and engines built in-house should be broken before tuned unless professionally built who can break-in in shop before mounting in car. Not trolling and love throtl!!! Shops here east coast build some of the fastest Mitsu's and usually carry a extra manual boost controllers to swap out for tune.

    Track monster for sure. I believe that car is too valuable in the sense of how many hearts the build has captured. That should be preserved but not by parking it turning it into a purposeful track monster I think is the way to go that way in it's still loved and being driven.

    I ran DSM from 2000 to 2005. They are a very easy and inexpensive way to make power. Honestly you should be exceeding 500hp. All I did was throw a 60 trim turbo, 1200cc injectors, walbro 255 fuel pump with a 3in exhaust and crank the boost up to 25psi tuned on a DSM link with 93 octane making between 450 sometimes over 500hp on a high mileage engine. You guys spent 5 times what I spent on that engine. You should be cracking 500hp easily...430 is a fair call but I think you are underestimating what that engine can really do...

    Definitely go full send drag car! I’d love to see a big turbo with hood exit, slicks all around, and a sequential transmission (maybe with some paddle shifters…)

    Take that 400HP AWD monster to Willow Springs and see what kind of lap times all the guys and gals at throtl can put down! Best lap time wins something sweet from the site. Absolutely awesome build, as are all the others. When are we gonna see that electric Z drifting with Vaughn Gittin Jr. and his RTR Mustang? That would be epic
