I was lucky enough to get the Prime x Critical Pen sent out to me for a review by Kingpin Tattoo Supply. The Prime Pen Machine has alot of features in a budget friendly style pen tattoo machine alot of us have been asking for for a long time now. One of my favorite things about doing tattoo machine reviews is seeing the innovation that is happening with all the newest tattoo machines today.

I like to mention any time I review a tattoo machine, weather its the Prime Pen or any other machine, it is important to work on your tattooing and art skills over prioritizing the newest tattoo machine. If you arent good at tattooing, a new tattoo machine is not going to help you get better. A tattoo machine is a tool that helps you do your job easier, but it will not do your job for you.

hi, I also have the 4.2 Prime and feel the same as you. I was disappointed with the lining, otherwise it is very good.

thanks so much for this review! knew you'd be honest. was really hoping this could be a do-it-all machine at the price point but linework is the most important consideration for me. now hoping I can get a deal on a used critical torque or bishop machine to save some money

I’ve been seeing a lot of bishop wands going up for sale lately. Might get lucky with a good price for one of those.
Give the ep7+ a look if you are looking for a cheaper pen machine, I’ve been loving that one for mostly everything for a while now

You should check out the Arx Wave pen part of a collab from renowned artist Xam.
Interestingly has the ability to adjust the hertz independently without changing volts.

Please try and review the new Ambition Soldier max, been using my bishop wand for years and just purchased this little machine …. I was very impressed!
Would love to see a video about your thoughts on battery grips like the Peak Forge or the Inkclaw Phoenix. They seem like a cool idea, but ive seen a lotta other artists concerned with the sterilization of them. Would love to know your thoughts on em :)
I did one on the ink claw battery grip a while ago. I feel the same about all of those battery grips. I haven’t seen one that I’m excited about yet
@bigmikecampos...love the reviews, have you done a review on MUMMY tattoo pen..went to a tattoo convention and seen the Bishop power wand in use by many artists, very smooth machine.

I'm liking this machine. Especially that it comes with critical batteries. In your opinion would you purchase this if you already own the OG Bishop Shader and the OG Mast Flip? I really want this machine but I have a feeling it'd be redundant to grab right now as I'm nowhere near rich to say the least lol
To be honest it’s not going to do much more than those machines you already have. those two machine you have are shader/color packers.
If you are looking for a liner check out the 4.2 torque, Ava EP7+, or vlad blad avenger 2 or 3.

Bishop og wand shader
Have you done a review on the inkclaw dagger or what is your experience/ thoughts on inkclaw machines?
I did a review on the inkclaw battery grip but that’s it
I know you don’t like peak needles but could you try out their new cartridges called stellar? Can’t find anyone with a decent review on them. Thanks!
I’ve tried the peak quartz, blood, and triton needles and they have been the worst. Maybe the 4th try will work haha
Do you know if the critical foot connects to the prime battery?

I have the Bishop Packer..packed a punch and perfect for lining and color packing… I also have two Spektra Xions …3.2 and 3.7…I want to sell one and purchase the Prime pen 3.5 with the two batteries for shading…also love the idea of being able to use the critical batteries with the Bishop via the adapter…thoughts??
Sure you can use those batteries on any machine with an rca jack

I just bought mine brotha For my first pen I’m a beginner at 4.2 stroke cause I heard they hit softer do you think it was a good buy what’s your thoughts on the swash plate it’s not to late to exchange for FK Irons Edge X or Injekta Eclipse please let me know which one you think would be best all rounder 🤙🏼
It really depends on what style you are doing to tell you the truth.
I haven’t tried those other machines so sorry I can’t be a help

I’ve never used the equalizer before but if you are wanting to line I wouldn’t get the prime.

I really like punchy machines. What machine do you recommend in a pen style?
I’ve been really liking the critical torque. The 4.2 and 5m are both cool. I’ll have a review out on the 5mm next week I think. I already have one of the 4.2.
If you want something a little cheaper the Ava ep7+ has been awesome for me. I have a review on that as well. I have a discount code for that also.

i have the machine aswell in 3.5 very good shader, super light, super cheap. It's a little bit funny sound because of the motor but yea whocares haha :D i like it tho!

No idea honestly. I’ve used it for 5 straight and it still has plenty of juice left

My favorite I would have to say that I would love to have is probably the bishop on Packer and the one that I use today is the OG produce pioneer good luck to who gets the stickers. I’m definitely a sticker guy I have stickers everywhere.
If you had to choose between the prime pen, or a bishop packer, or liner or shader, which one would you choose?
It would depend on what tattoo I was doing.
I also haven’t tried the packer or shader. I only have used the liner.
But I have heard the packer is the best all around machine out of the wand series.
Would you get a Cobra?

I’ve never gotten a Cheyenne machine before. I think I never got into them because they didn’t have rca it was a 3.5 and I didn’t want to buy another cable lol
But the wireless machines they have look nice
