The thing I found surprising, is the Screen Cast function on my Google Pixel 8 Pro does not find any of my devices. I am on the same network on all my devices. I seem to have upgraded myself OUT of screen casting! Am I required to purchase a Google Chromecast streaming device in order for the Screen Cast function to find my TV? Or is there secure streaming software that will work both on the Pixel 8, and TVs and gaming devices? I was looking at the onn. Google TV 4K Streaming Box as a possible solution, but am unsure. Thanks so much for the PIxel 8 content!

Been contimplating getting the oneplus 12 as an upgrade to my pixel 6 just for this feature. I am concerned , however, that I'll miss the call screening, voice to text with punctuation, and saying 'send' to send texts too much. Those are the only reasons I haven't changed to a different phone. I like the pixel 6 but the battery life seams to be getter worse by the day. After Android 14 it revamped my phone but in the last month the battery is draining so fast, I can't get half a day without recharging. And I'm not even using it!

you dont need to reboot after enabling those dev options. on my android 11 (powkiddy x18s) this desktop mode looks absolutely the same. seems they abandoned it cuz it hasnt been worked on for quite long time
When I first installed the update my pixel 8 ran horribly. The phone heated up and the pixel launcher kept crashing when I tried going to recent apps (I still use 3 button navigation). I ran my google app updates and it finally settled down after about 10 min or so and a reboot or two. I was really bummed i would have to uninstall the update (been waiting to use my xreal glasses with this). Luckily its running like a charm now and I can confirm the xreal glasses are working fine with my pixel 8. I haven't tried installing the app yet.

I love the idea of desktop mode and use a lapdock with my Surface Duo all the time. Though I think the only truly useful desktop mode on a phone would be in Microsoft got on board with the full Windows 11 on phone projects. Too bad there's the app gap though, because Windows 11 with a few adjustments is fine on a phone screen (I messed around with Windows 11 on the Lumia 950xl).
Which i still found weird is that phones are using usb 2.0... How many years old usb 3 is? Is not a file system issue nor storage... I hate you programed obsolescence

I dont know about Dex but i do hope they go the route Motorola went or even talk with them because ready for and moto connect are very good and i would say go toe to toe with Samsung Dex if not outright do it better and i use both.
Nah. Dex just needs support for like maybe 2 apps besides Microsoft apps being updated. It has way more capability than Moto-Ready for and doesn't separate the phone side from the computer side of things.
