Mr. Farhan you have done great service to the Aprillia Community by bringing in such quality R&D . Appreciate the effort and thankyoi for all the advice and information
Thank you so much for this video. I'm so glad you opened this discussion and I may have some information that could be relevant. 17mm master cylinder is too much brake for a 4-piston radial caliper on a 320mm single rotor. You do not need a Brembo master cylinder. You need a 15mm radial master cylinder of any brand. Nissin and Frando are very good, but there are less expensive options like MXS and RCS. This by itself should fix the problem, but you could take things a step further by also replacing the brake pads and/or front rotor. If you want to remove the abs you should really get an abs delete kit. The problem with removing the fuse is that you also disable the traction control. There are already abs delete kits for the rs660 that are quite expensive, but they're should be cheaper ones available for the 457 eventually. Again thank you for putting together this video for us. I found it very informative. 🕉🪷🪬🪯
I used 17mm RCB on my 390 and they work wonders compared to the stock….the stock is 15mm which still bites pretty hard but the 17mm offers a better stopping performance and it doesn’t fade…
@@BenLaden88 You noticed an improvement because you upgraded from an axial master cylinder to a radial master cylinder. 15mm is the correct piston size to move the necessary amount of brake fluid through front brake systems such as on the 390 and 457. 17mm piston will give you too much brake. You went from having not enough brake to having too much. The problem with 17mm master cylinder on that bike would be that it would give you on or off braking, whereas the a 15mm radial master cylinder with would give you proper brake feel, meaning you would have better control of the full range of your braking. This is why if you go to a top shelf accessories catalog like RevZilla, they recommend the brembo 15 rcs for the 457 which has a single dic front brake, and the brembo 19 rcs for 660 which has a dual disc in front. Calibration and researching on abs is a very long and hard process and it seems like the issue is abs calibration. I hope Aprilla figure this out for new and old bikes so i can peacefully book my bike ❤️
Great work on the review, loved the fact you have already tried different setups to improve the breaking. This no doubt an awesome bike but the breaking is surely is kind of the only major issue with the bike. Hope Aprilia listens to this feedback and get this resolved, because the break fade under harsh load and breaking can prove to be fatal and is a very big flaw. Keep up the awesome content going. I own a duke 390 which I changed the front to organic brake pads- and yes, the ABS triggers a lot. Fading is another level, it was like my Himalayan on the highways. I’d say ceramic pads and brake fluid change is what you’re looking for. Do not do any brake deletes etc as you will be losing warranty. Apparently one guy changed his levers and master cylinder which seemed to have improvement but a bad idea.
You can buy the brembo race pads .or Just buy the ebc EPFA 606 hh (4800Rs)pads thats all you need, been using EPFA for last 11 years for both my cbr and rc390 and did work well on the track. Clean the discs do the bedding procedure and enjoy. Dot 5.1 is not going to increase performance (30⁰ increased temperature from dot 4) by a big margin because if the oil is overheating you have other significant fundamental problems. As you will warp the disc or burn the disc.
So the thing is the bike is not still in the European countries yet, but they are using different break pads here, and yet its because there is big price difference like 1.7L rs difference, between Indian price to European price.
The thing is rotor is getting heated As well the pads will also heat then the disk oil .. and as a cheap fix why dnt you try a 3d printed rotor cooler .. i mean twin cylinder ..easily catches 170 in track rotor is thin .. may be it needs that one last thing .. they say its track machine ..
Bro you could've tried the EPFA (EPFA606HH) brake pads from EBC. They're too good with significant difference on RC390's(inspite rc have good stock stopping power).
Yes tried everything with hard braking. I still feel the braking has scope for improvement. Currently running on some nice adjustable levers from Aprilia. Brembo RSC15 CorsaCorta is on the way.
As mentioned in video. Initial bite was good. But abs kicked in too aggressively in hard braking. So I just removed it. Getting the brembo rcs15 corsa corta soon. It's on the way.
