I'm reminded of the "paperclip factory" thought experiment, an automated factory that tries to maximize it's paperclip output, to the detriment of all other things. At some point it will run out of things or matter to turn into paperclips, so it recycles existing paperclips - becoming a kind of closed assembly loop, whereby the outputs are the same as the inputs. Isolated from everything else, just recycling stuff into stuff for eternity.
I love that Manly explained every step as if it was the logical next step, like, yeah, everyone knows we now cube the bird, y'know? Also that was very weird.

It's the game itself, that's the end product. The game you purchased. Everything you made was a strange product and in summation they made up the game. The factory itself produces nothing in very elaborate ways purely as a wind up.
This game, to me, is meant to be more art piece than game. I can see some similarities to How Fish Is Made, insofar as the way meat processing is portrayed both organically and mechanically, but both in places they shouldn't be. I really like it, though, very creative in sound and art direction.

The only outside forces are the horse and you, the player. What it reminds me of more than anything is a parasite - many parasites go through similarly complex life cycles, their bodies taking on myriad forms across multiple different hosts, many changing simply so that they can be passed on to the next one. And lo and behold, the parasite requires your and the horse's care to keep existing. Hosts, to keep it fed with energy so it can transmute itself and continue its multi-stage existence. I've never seen a game quite like this, where, rather than existing for you, the world of the game exists _because_ of you, and actively leeches off of you in order to continue and thrive.

this game is weirdly comforting because it makes me happy to know basically nothing goes to waste in this peaceful facility. You don't have to know what or why it's being done, but i take solace in that everything is done with a purpose. Plus, you look around in the bare minimum that's illuminated, no little asian children being exploited in sight!

My favourite quote.
It does seem like this whole place is made to just produce kettleheaded birds and waste (in the form of living, singing, garbage bags filled with horse poop...)
God I frickin love MBH's video titles, like the pause out of place, you make a ....uh, unique product?omgwtfisthat 🤣🤣🤣. Like the rush of words all at the end is fricking hilarious to me
“All we have are machinery assets and random weird gross stuff. Can we make a game out of it?”
The answer was yes but after watching this…maybe it should have been no.
Necessity is the mother of invention. This is an orphan. ~*insert tumblr username I can't possibly remember*
I dunno I enjoyed it
From what I take the factory has 2 end products, birds with weird elephant tea kettle heads and lions made from crushed carrot tops
The things made with crushed carrot heads are then dessicated and fed to the bird.
@@fractalgem damn I just realized those were bison and not lions
The little drone guy that picks up the elephant head near the end made me think of Declan Lee's illustrations in the book Magic Night by Isobelle Carmody. Surreal little creature. (Took me like 8 hours to find the name of the book as I only vaguely remembered it from my childhood)

You should be very worried when a game can't even get Manly to make up a cheery video title for it.
Manly sounds tired. It wouldn't hurt him to rest more.
I watched this with my three year old and he was able to follow it very well. His commentary was great too 😂
this game is weirdly comforting because it makes me happy to know basically nothing goes to waste in this peaceful facility. You don't have to know what or why it's being done, but i take solace in that everything is done with a purpose. Plus, you look around in the bare minimum that's illuminated, no little asian children being exploited in sight!
Im not sure if goat/cow things being live dessicated by molten imp droppings and face carrots being killed is MUCH better than sweatshop labor...
@@fractalgem r u comparing animal cruelty to child slavery 😭
I do like how you see how resourceful the factory is. How the waste is reused to do the process again and again.
Oh manlybadass hero, what a wonderful time for you to begin posting videos at this rate again. My life truly has transformed dramatically, and i reacted poorly and am recovering, this escape from reality is greatly appreciated. Keep it up a couple more weeks please🤞🤞🤞
This factory is what overly complicated Minecraft Mod recipes feel like
