I love how the 2nd part started off normal, then they went into the stratosphere, then it just became squeaks
Oh yeah it’s hard to make it loud when it get up there
just turns into farts
So your basically telling me that it's almost possible to play every note on a piano on trombone?
But you can't play every note on trombone on a piano
but some of them you gotta switch instruments
you can go even higher without a mouthpiece
the trombone beats the piano in range
On any brass instrument if you try hard enough.
I like how it goes from some random person in their house to a whole performance, like you get medium volume then just "BOOM"
I like how Eddie elsey created a new note
i sub it Z
it wasnt a new note but it was an insane D7
bro plays the highest recored note in trombone history and then casually says "okay"
Thank you for reminding me to practice my Long Tones
ikr
When your a trumpet player and someone plays quite a bit higher than you can on a trombone...
same 💀
Bro I have a piccolo trumpet and I can’t even play that high
I’m trying to increase my trombone range, I think it’s around E5 to Bb1.
Note: I cannot comfortably hit E5, but if I get lucky or abandon sounding good a little I can get into the 5 range, although Bb5 is a bit more comfortable.
@@not_meepington I kinda figured out a trick for these high notes by curling your lips in and making kind of and M lip position if that makes sense… aim the air down to hell, and all of these high notes have a full sounding tone but I can’t play them in context to save my life…the trick is only good for the last note holds… which kinda stinks
i love how the notes near and on the stave are played by professional concert trombonist during performances, and the really high and really low notes are just played by randos in their own home.
I love how every low note is just someone cranking the shit out of it then there is New York Low Brass at 0:37
1:55 Oh! My tea is ready! 😅
Seriously though, that’s some serious chops! Getting that high intentionally, and so clearly as well, is quite impressive! *Says the clarinet player* 😊
C8-Bb7 tremolo. 1:57
Either that, or a car is about to crash through his wall.
He goes up to D at 2:00
The last notes by Eddie Elsey were B6, then C#7, then Eb7. Eb7 is higher than a flute can play!
Edit: i have perfect pitch but confused my octave numbers again
I heard a slightly sharp D8, but I might be wrong
Hit an F5 on a solo during a pep band rally and I felt like a god for a split second… it would have been better if I never saw this LOL 😂 serious talent here!
I used to use a recording of my cousin playing F4, F5, and then F6 as a ringtone for him. People's reaction was usually "what the *FK* was that?"
this video really shows off the diversity of the trombone in terms of sound i mean holy hell
The guy at the end😂😂 Hits a note that isn’t even on the scale and just goes okay after like nothing happens
The "okay" at the end is what really got me.
he casually made me feel bad about my range on TRUMPET, with a TROMBONE
B natural going in C for Mahler 2 was a wonderful moment. I can’t put my finger on the B natural song at the moment tho 😢
2:00 Guy sounds like a steaming tea kettle and then proceeds to say “okay”
Huge Flex
It's one thing to play a single note, but another thing to have the flexibility to play it in music (such as in an eighth note run) whenever it is needed. Some of the pedal notes and some of the extremely high pitches played on this video I wonder about.
1:31 I personally know him. I was one of his students.
They make it look so effortless 😭
Thank you for this useful and fun video! It would be even more helpful if you indicate which types of trombones were used in it. Some of those lowest notes must be on a bass trombone, rather than tenor, isn't it?
Could even be on a contra right?
Yes, in fact most are played on contra for those double pedals
@@gearaddictclimber2524 thanks so much for the info!
not necessarily, i play bass trombone and i can get all those low notes on tenor(besides the F0)
@@trombone3813 Yeah I’m aware, I play bass too and can also do so. It’s just easier to hit on contra and they had to include some contra players so they’d have enough players for the video
At the end all I could think was
"Honey the tea is ready."
"But the water isn't even simmering?"
I'm looking forward to the followup video showing a trombone playing Bb3, as your clip of a Bb3 is played on a sackbut.
0:13 lowest note on viola c3
1:50 highest note on viola e6
thank you, i was so confused on all the a's this helped me understand it so much better
0:28 lowest note on Cello c2
1:47 highest note on cello c6
these trombones can play higher that i would ever play
Eddie elsey even stretching past treble clef
That last note is fluctuating between a B6 and a D7 mostly being C7 and C#7
Edit: it caps at Eb7
Thanks for reposting this on the new channel!
Its my tradition to come back to this every few weeks.
"All notes played by different trombonists"
Eddie Elsey:
Rate my progress
15 years old. played trombone for 4½ years. Lowest note f0 highest note g5. Both of those notes are on an alto
It’d be cool if they did this for every instrument. Such a satisfying video
They probably have 😂
The guy at the end with a simple “Ok” killed me
F0 sounds like the trombone is depressed and just wants a brewk
amazing video thanks
bass string notes
E1: 0:36
A1: 0:31
D2: 0:25
G2: 0:20
Starts from regular trombone to tuba to ABOVE THE RANGE OF A flute👀 just a normal day in my band class lol
Best Bb1 ever recorded and the last guy hit a D7 at the end
Viola open strings
C-0:28
G-0:53
D-1:07
A-1:22
I can only play a Eb up two octaves. I think, I couldn’t tell if it was an E or an Eb. We don’t talk about the other high notes.
missing Dave Steinmeyer and Bill Watrous
Y’all need to listen to jazz trombone players they can just play an f5 and even higher like it’s nothing
We did you stopped uploading content? I liked this videos :)
If trombone ytps were deleted plz reupload them
I will in the trombone memes channel
as a trombonist, i know how bad you have to murder your lungs to go that high.
Well, that's the first time that I heard a skreech trombone!
1:14 REST IN PEACE
Absolutely beautiful
Love how it was just a whistle at the end 😂
Btw I might not get a response because it’s a month old but I was gonna ask about well range, specifically when hitting a note that is above your limit. My limit has been an F#(above the staff) and I just hit a super G and also a super A natural, but they sound like they are being pushed out and don’t sound great. I wanted to know if this is going to happen because my lips aren’t used to it or if it’s just my ombosure.
From my experience the more you practice the high register the better they become. So as long as your lips aren't hurting keep on playing, you'll get there. Of course it might take a while but it's worth it. Also, I really recommend using glissando a way to practice high register, because that way you can move towards your goal note one quarter of a note at a time or even smaller. There is a great video by Christopher Bill on this way of practicing. Check it out and good luck!
It may also depend on the quality of the trombone. I had a Chinese one with no brand and I couldn't get a higher note than F. I bought a Thomann TB 525 (made in China still) and I can go up to C now. The instrument has to resonate with you.
Embochure
They always sound weird the first few times. Make sure you’re playing etudes or other things that’ll get you playing near where your limit is to strengthen that are if your chops. Also make sure your getting the note out via your airspeed not tightening your embouchure. Some tightening must occur, but as long as you approach it with a good airstream, you won’t destroy your chops trying to get the high stuff out
@@gearaddictclimber2524 also make sure every time you play for 5min take a 2min brake so the muscles can rest. Otherwise the more you play the worst you perform and you get frustrated.
As a tuba player when a regular f sounded like a fart on trombone I was starting to think why we got the lowest instrument as our name
Omg I used to take lessons with Colby at 0:27
Eddie started his own trombone villain arc
"(trombone)EEEEEEEEEEeeeEeEeeeEeeEeEEEEE" "...okay."
now we need a different trombonist each played by a different note 🤔
the last note went up to D7, what a legend
Never thought id hear a trombone played so high it sounds like a flute.
Last time checked the Bb is only in 1st position. Although this is coming from someone whose still in school so I don’t know everything there is.
For all that are wondering that final note got to an eb idk which octave, but there you go
Was wiggling around B6 to D7 and capped at Eb7
I love the A1 clip
Really helpful. Avoid off the stave notes.
You could show how to play fast passages in Berg's 3 Orchestral Pieces.
The person that did the C5 looks like my band director
F0 is actually crazy
The last note is me after eating a burrito from a questionable good truck.
i love how the lowest trombone notes just sound like farts
Lowest note in double bass: 0:35 (E1)
Highest note on double bass: 1:14 (g4)
its crazy that the last few are higher than my highest trumpet notes
Im surprised a soprano trombone wasnt taken out. These peoples ranged are crazy
As a 2nd year trombonist I HATE 5th position. It’s just so uncertain. I- EUGH I hate it.
Im in 8th grade and I can only hit a C5, its crazy to see people that have such incredible range!
Where can I find the full video for 1:54? I’ve been cracking up at the delivery for a few min now and sounds like a squeak from a rubber duck in his bell. Like in the lead trumpet player video where he swaps out his third valve for an instant double G. (Squeaky Rubber Duck)
1:49 1:32
Lowest note on violin: 0:53 g3
Highest note on violin: 1:56 a7
I remember I played a really low Bb and the tuner couldn’t read it bruh ☠️
That sounded like a D7 at the end, yet here I am, in top band, and constantly cracking high Fs 😑
i think he briefly hit Eb7
Went from B6 wiggling around a bit to cap at Eb7
so basically the last clip was a B6/C7, then a C#7, and finally ending off with an Eb7. how he did that i have not one of an idea.
I believe that questioned note is somewhere between C7 and F7
The Eb 5 is my favorite
The lower they go it sounds like a nasty fart lol
1:30 and that is where my range stops… a D5
low notes are so ominous and scary to be honest
That last one varied between b6-C#7
I thought the F0 at 0.5x speed sounded like a helicopter.
lol it does
furthest i've ever tried for and gotten as that low b flat 0:42
Can’t believe Wes Funderburk wasn’t used for the high F!
Pov when you cant even play as high on clarinet 😭💀
it literally just turns into a flute for the higher notes
He hit up to an E7 btw
Shown the highest note on the trombo blind, you would probably think that its some child screaming
when a trombone plays higher than you (im a french horn+trumpet player)
The last one was an unstable climb to D7
Alright 6 octaves is crazy
Had no idea trombone could go so low
He is smart
went from *flaaarp* to *SQUEACK*
The only reason I don’t play trombone because when I did it sounded like a wet fart no matter what I did
i can go around from G1 to Eb5 in my Alto trombone Bb
last one went from a C# to D# fast
