    St Paul, MN here. This show is a hidden gem. I love that you explain not only what's likely to happen but why it will, and I always leave feeling very informed. Thank you for your excellent work!

    Tim, I live in Plano, Texas. I'm a retired private sector meteorologist. I think you do a great job, with excellent technical content. One thing that folks in Texas and surrounding states need to be planning for is an extended drought that has already started, but could be really problematic from a fire weather standpoint.

      Wind, hail, and now fire in N Dallas. Hang in there y'all.

      Yep, it will be tough going into a La Nina winter. Unfortunately it does strongly correlate with below normal precip in winter in the Southern Plains.

    Hi, Tim. I'm Mike, in Elma, Iowa (northeast - our NWS is LAX). Today we got up to 75, sw winds 7-13. Little more heat and wind tomorrow on Sunday. 81 and sw winds gusting to 29. Our harvest here is in full speed and nobody's complaining about wet fields and much of the corn being harvested is already in the 14-18% and won't need any supplemental drying, thus saving a lot of costs for our farmers! I just subscribed. Your content is appreciated!

      Nice, I do appreciate that report... especially from the agricultural side as it's hard to get that kind of inside info without looking at regional farm weather reports. Hope you can keep us updated!

    A warm hello from San Antonio, TX! Just discovered this channel and I must say, I am so glad to have done so. In the best way possible, your voice and cadence reminds me of TWC’s Intellistar. Very comforting. Incredible learning material as you go through your summary and analysis as well! Keep doing what you’re doing :)

    The persistent ridge over the East US has brought beautifully clear night skies to Northern Alabama. We got a clear view of the Aurora last week, and comet C/2023 A3 just now. Thanks for the video, I always learn a lot from your commentary.

    Hi Tim: Thank you for another amazing video and detailing the Canadian provinces. I live close to Toronto. This time of year many Canadian snowbirds head to Florida for the winter. For those of us that don't go to Florida any idea what this winter may be like? Really enjoy your expertise.

    Just this morning found your channel!
    I live in southeastern Colorado. 60 miles east of Pueblo.
    It started raining Friday evening, very light.
    Continued off and on, since.
    11:02 Saturday morning and it’s raining steady.
    Temp is 47, and weather bug is calling for a high off 60!
    My guess is, it’ll be hard pressed to get into mid 50s!
    Enjoyed your weather content very much!

    Tim? Why does this look so chaotic? We have seen cut-off lows with the Jet cyclonicly completing complete circulation before but this looks like a cyclone! Thanks

    • @ForecastLab
      @ForecastLab  4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      The system has strong thermal and moisture contrasts. We do get these cutoff lows in the cold season but usually those contrasts have subsided.

  • @glennrubel4326
    @glennrubel4326 5 วันที่ผ่านมา

    What is the main sensible difference between an occluded low and a baroclinic low?

    • @ForecastLab
      @ForecastLab  4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      The occluded low is cut off from the supply of warm air (i.e. temperature contrasts) and often from moisture (latent heat). The baroclinic low is usually undergoing development unless it is what we classify as a "stable wave".

    Hey Tim, regular viewer from Geneva, Switzerland. Grew up in the States (NJ and TX) and my mother lives in NJ. Majored in meteorology/atmos. science and got my BS at Rutgers and my MS at TAMU. Now been a forecaster for the Swiss weather service for over 20 years. Really enjoy watching your weather briefings, very nicely done, congrats! Having purchased your DA and RAOB programs, I may try my hand at doing similar weather briefings for Europe... :)

    I'm a regular viewer from Windsor CO. Looks like a nice four corners low but not enough moister/wrong wind angle to get much rain here... its been 56 days since Greeley has measured any precipitation...

    • @ForecastLab
      @ForecastLab  4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Yeah, it's usually a good setup for upslope rains and snows in the Denver region but it appears everything is just a bit too far south. The closed low isn't great for moisture return since the jet is parallel to the Rockies (reduced lee side trough effect).

    Why has it stopped raining in Philadelphia, PA? We are soon to exceed the historical record of 29 days without rain. Rains became sparse during the past 2 months. Intermittent ponds are dry. Native shrubs with shallow roots have shriveled leaves. Water level above my well-pump’s inlet has dropped from 40 feet to 8 feet. The top 3 feet of soil is “bone dry”; therefore, it will require a significant amount of rain to break through and replenish my aquifer. The models show negligible rain for the next 2 weeks. What large scale meteorological change is needed to return to normal rainfall?
