Just did this to fix our unit, the impeller was broken in two! I super glued it back together re-assembled the unit and it worked. I will replace the impeller as soon as I can find the part but I appreciate you making this vid to help everyone with this problem.
I am grateful for your video. I picked up an identical model in the trash in fine cosmetic shape and with the help of your video am now up and running.
OMG!!! YOU ARE MY HERO!! I'm a 63 year old Gramma and I followed all of your steps and even got it all back together with no leftover screws! Unfortunately, my turbo motor was broken in several places as well so I' m hoping it won't stop it from working correctly. Just wanted to let you know that you made my day!
Thanks Man, very helpful video. The bearing was seized. Placed the gear assembly in vinegar overnight and all the rust was gone then reassembled and used penetrating oil. Works like new again. Thanks for saving me some cash.
Fortunately mine was not as bad as yours! BUT, after following your instructions (and lots of vinegar to clean up the unit), some light grease and WD 40, it appears mine is back in service! THANK YOU!!
Great vid thank you for showing. It was exactly what i needed. I couldn’t find all the screws to remove the top until you showed and the rest of the video helped as well. I had to use pliers to unfreeze the gears. Brush spins now but not fast and then seems underpowered. The air pressure isn’t giving the brushes enough power. This unit worked fine for a couple of years but it isn’t designed to last for many years
My dad and I just finished fixing our Hoover while watching your video. We laughed and laughed, which made it a fun bonding experience. You made working on that filthy thing fun for us. Thanks for the levity and a truly superior step-by-step for any knowledge level! My dad says, “Thanks for the friggin’ advice” 😁 - and my mom wants to know if you’ll please do a tutorial on how to fix a cuckoo clock.
Great video, thanks. I liked that you started from the beginning with a machine that hadn't already been fixed. Thus showing how to remove the cover starting from the bottom side. I did all the things suggested ; both of my bearings were seized up. The top one I was able to break loose using pliers and a screw driver to leverage the bearing up. The bottom one I had to turn the turbine upside down, place it on a partially-open vice, and using a punch tool and medium force bang on the shaft vertically to break loose the bearing. After cleaning everything which was rusty using a wire brush and more, I reassembled everything and tested the carpet cleaner, but the brushes weren't going around. Crumb. After dinner, I decided to watch the video again, and I heard you mention the butterfly valve that closes off air when the handle is up. I tried with the handle down and voila, the brushes are turning. Good going!
I had the exact same issue on a Hoover shampooer that I bought off Facebood Marketplace. When I bought it we only plugged it in and it ran nicely. I never looked at the brushes and the guy never mentioned it. Anyway, by following what this guy did I was able to free up the 2 bearings in the turbine. I'm hoping there's enough vacuum to power the brush turbine. This video was definitely helpful.
Thanks for the vid. I assumed that it was a belt issue, not cheap bearings and nylon gears. Lubed it up with FMO (food service machinery oil) and it's good to go.
This worked for me. Wasn't rusted on mine or broken, just stuck and dirty. Cleaned it up and greased it and it Works fine now that I did this. Thank you for the walk through !
Dude thanks for the video. I was able to diasssemble and diagnose my scrubber. The repair was easy as well. I'm putting it in my burn barrel and incinerating it. Frozen bushings and broken plastic everywhere. That little fan blade on the top shot out and broke up the insides real good. Entertaining video though and you did help me take it apart. Gotta go find some matches now.
Had to come back and give thanks. As a woman, I love being able to fix things myself. Bearing was also frozen. After reassembling...scrubbers still didn't spin. Didn't give up.. Took it apart again to make sure I did all steps correctly. After I turned it on..no spin. BUT.....after I pulled the handle back, they engaged.I yelled a huge WAHOO! Enjoyed your commentary along the way "old lady", "friggen..or was it freakin"?, "Fuck"..Lol
Great vid. Very helpful! Also for folks attempting to fix it yourself- that the plastic is reeeally cheap grade stuff. Especially where the last few screws are around the casing of the turbo..As well as keep track of the screws you are using!! 😆
Yeah!!! I followed your video step by step, cursed a lil myself lol, and walah! it works!!!!! Thank you so much!!!! The grease helps! I did notice the plastic on the inside freaking breaks easily, thank goodness for super glue!
Very helpful video. I had the same problem and didn't want to use the "bigger hammer" approach (brute force without disassembling) approach I'd seen on other videos. Using Liquid Wrench, I wasn't able to get it to work completely, but at least I took the SpinScrub apart, confirmed the problem was a rusted top radial bearing, cleaned everything up a little, got the bottom bearing working, and put everything back together without breaking anything. The carpet cleaner still works without the rotating bristles.
I agree with you.. this is the second Hoover Carpet cleaner I've gotten and they don't design them to not Freeze up and have to take apart to get the brushes to turn again..
Dude u did it. I fixed it. For how long is really the question. Tons of cracks and broken things inside. For now the brushes are spinning again. Thank u. My husband didn't believe it but I did it with your help.😁
Your video was incredibly helpful as I tear mine apart, but just like yours, the plastic housing on mine is all cracked and falling apart. I also had rusted screws I had to drill to get out.
Worked! Fixed ours! Saved us from having to buy another and the Earth from having another piece of crap in a landfill. You rock! THANK YOU! (Please post another vid on how to remove ketsup from Crocks.Lol.)😂😅
Thanks for posting... Mine had exact same problem. Really low quality materials that Hoover uses in these... The plastic just breaks apart and bearing rust out...
I’ve got the same machine. Used it less than 4 times in two years, tried using it today the brushes won’t spin. I enjoyed your video, I’m not as handy. I’m going to take mine to a local vacuum repair store.
If you own a Hoover Power Scrub FH50135 and are trying to remove the brush, do not yank it out. There are black clips deep inside. I used a flathead screwdriver and pushed them out on both sides. Yanking it out may ruin the plastic grooves.
I have the same problem. Why not stainless steel bearings? There's no excuse for that except they want to make money when you have to get it repaired. Planned
Just followed the video and took off the brush assembly, cleaned and washed the brushes, sprayed the sprocket assembly with WD 40where the brush assembly fits in and used a large Allen wrench to GENTLY turn back and forth until the WD 40 worked and presto......... it started turning freely. Note: You must fully reassemble and place the tanks back in locked position before the brushes will work fully. Thanks for the video!!!!!
Thanks for the video. Out of all that I watched, yours was the most helpful. I had the same bearing problem, only both bearings were frozen on mine. Works like a champ, again.
Thank you, I followed what you did and discovered the housing holding the gears was a piece of crap and had come apart and cracked at the screws. There were buts of plastic all over. Once I got that cleared up the turbine spun but the housing was unsavable. Replacement part was $70. Not worth replacing. Better off buying a different machine.
Thank you!! Followed your instructions and got mine spinning again. It wasn’t rusted though. I think I just handled it a little too rough and somehow it worked loose from the bolt thingy that makes it spin. All good now.
How long before the cleaning solvent washed the grease and it rusted up on you again? Take a good name like Hoover and sell it to a Chinese company who builds it to get out the door and maybe last until its off warranty or count on nobody wanting to pay to have it shipped to have it repaired. How many of these do you think will be working in thirty years like the hoover vacuums?
how old is this unit? rusted so maintain these with a lube but the water sprays through the white piece so how is that going to work with a lube grease in there
hoover floor finishing machine f 7452900 is stop working after couple minutes work ,has to be cool down before start work again and takes two or three hours !
@@talyataylor2232 Hi, I did this last year. It worked just once, it has never worked again after all this procedure. Its a lemon. I got a $30 credit from Hoover which i did not use. They just wanted me to buy another model which I dont trust anymore.
As soon as your popped the cover of the turbine and I saw the color of that bearing... lol. Hoover definitely needs to do a better job insulating these 2 bearings even if it is just better silicone grease or something. Think of how many people simply throw the thing away once they lock up!
The brushes did not spin on the carpet. He did not pull the motor and clean the suction fan, I can’t find a video that shows it. The fan on the motor is not the suction fan.
I enjoyed your video and your cussing too. I'll be back I have to go wash my crock was hilarious. It could have been misconstrued as something else. Your absolutely correct in a poor design and using sealed ball bearings in an area that collects water. I would have used solid brass bearings instead which doesn't rust. I've been a fool over the last several decades to keep buying these poorly made and designed carpet scrubbers. They never last to get your money's worth out of them. It doesn't matter if it is Hoover or Bissel. It's the same thing basically all the time, poor design and inferior parts using cheap plastic that is not durable. I'm not hard or abusive at all with these units because I know the cost factor of parts and replacing them entirely. I'm fixing mine now and ordered that entire turbine assembly from Parts Express including tax and shipping for $42.00. I bought this unit brand new close to $150 or $160.00. Used it maybe 3 times and sat in the basement unknowingly these two ball bearings are corroding and seizing up! The next problem with this POS costs me money and cannot be fixed with super glue then it is going in the trash! I'm looking at commercial units or just rip up the carpeting entirely and go with wood flooring instead! Tired of these games with poorly made and designed POS!
My hoover is losing the water and the solution as soon as I fill it and turn it on. I replaced the water reservoir assembly, but that wasn't the problem... Any ideas? 😔
I would say it’s the plunger valve, the one that opens when you squeeze the solution trigger, it probably has some crud in it that stopping it from sealing. I haven’t had my Hoover in a few years so the details are a bit foggy.
@LivingJudyStyle I’m watching the video and it reminded me about vinegar. Try emptying the solution tank and water tank and putting vinegar in both then put the machine in a tote or something similar and run it, that should clean out any calcium deposits. I think just squeezing the trigger should allow the vinegar to flow from the water tank and the solution tank, if not then plug it in and turn it on. You may have to do it a couple times so if you do it in a tote you can recycle the vinegar. If the vinegar runs out without you doing anything just squeeze the trigger a few times and then let it sit for a couple minutes and then squeeze the trigger again, that should dislodge whatever is causing it not to seal.
Put an Allen wrench in where the brushes insert break it loose then spray some pen lube in the small air intake while running. Mine took off after that

Put an Allen wrench in the bottom where the scrubbers were and loosen the motor.
There’s no motor to loosen hence the name ‘turboscrub’. I tried breaking it free with an Allen wrench but that was a definite NO-GO.
