      He didn’t conquer it, he effectively (just very effectively) usurped it.

      Uh, yeah. Not meaning to troll, but stating the obvious about Sidious’s career doesn’t get us closer to an answer to the question posed by the author and site (what was so secretly brilliant about replacing the clones). One of the main points the author made I agree with was it was wise of Sidious to give the traumatic era of the clone wars a face (the Fett clones) that Imperial citizens could then see as “the past” and over and done with by your and my favorite creepy old sith, Darth Sideous, reinforcing his messianic image as the savior/messiah of the Republic. Only after a decade of Sidius’s true nature on display (and Starkiler’s example) did people begin see thru this bullpuckey ; at least, those who weren’t profiting from it, which in the Core Worlds was most every actual citizen. The outer rim “had plenty of nuthin’ and nuthin’ was plenty for them”.)

      Imagine a planet like Mimban. These clones would likely be the first to be sent charging across no man's land to the enemy trenches. Casualties would have been massive and that would've been half the point. The other half being of course the chance that they might actually take a trench or two.

  • @godbearxd

    He should've used a combination of different types for his military.
    Keep the droids because it takes a lot less time, money, and resources to program a Droid then to train a soldier especially if you recycle. Now of course a soldier would make better decisions than a Droid but you can put them on the front lines to exhaust enemy resources if nothing else. Hell, make em Kamikaze droids for maximum effect.
    Next send in the Stormtroopers but instead of just having volunteers manipulating & torture some rebels into joining your ranks as well while killing off their leaders for extra demoralization. People that feel hopeless or easier to break.
    Lastly take the top 5 to 10% of Jedi killers and make new clones out of em. If you want a better sample size offer a reward for the top 3 individuals that kill the most Jedi. Also might wanna invest in cybernetic & bio chem research for..."recycling old parts". If I remember correctly there's some type of zombie virus in the Star Wars universe could be useful...

    I'm also betting that one of the major conditions for fulfilling the contractor to make the clone army the kaminoans probably wanted their products lifespan to be limited. the republic would have to be in a "subscription based situation" with them over the decades and perhaps centuries (or so they though)
    And I know that their maturation was accelerated but maturation and senescence are not the same thing. One is the product of hormones as the body grows and the other results from DNA and RNA errors over time as the body replenishes itself.
    In theory maturation can be done through hormones and drugs. I'm sure bacta could play a part. End of life senescence on the other hand...you gotta build that shit into the genome. A simple way to do it would be to make it so over time the clones bodies start producing more and more of a certain hormone or combination of hormones then you also build in a cellular cell switch that triggered with consistent exposure to those hormones at a predetermined level. Then all you have to do is fine tune the numbers so you know that at age 30 the levels are high enough to start the rabit aging process. The could hustbhave shorter telomeres. It could be part of the cybernetic suite they have in that chip of there's, though I doubt that.
    Anyway my point is I imagin it was easier for the sith (through sifo-dyas) to negotiate a deal with the kaminoans knowing that in 25 to 30 years the republic would supposedly be needing more clones. The brilliant part is that having a limited lifespan fit palpatines plans perfectly and the perceived possibility of continuous orders into perpetuity was a wildly good deal sweetener.
    I think you are right though. Replacing the clones with people from all across the galaxy would make it a lot harder to foment a rebellion (in theory) I mean even luke wanted to join up as a pilot. If everyone know someone or knows a person who knows a person in the empire then it's harder to rise up against then

  • @christophersanchez7731
    @christophersanchez7731 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    There’s three major reasons why phasing out clones for a conscript Imperial Army is good
    One is because Clones are ultimately property of Kamino, the Inhibitor Chips that made Order 66 possible, is liable to turn clones against the Empire from a voice command from a Kaminoian, phasing the clones out before it could happen was a good idea
    Second reason is economics, clones are products of Kamino to sell, they’re expensive to create and maintain. With Palpatine wanting to invest money to build Superweapons and a massive police force army, he would need to lessen strain on his economy, especially as Kamino a potential foe grew richer
    The third reason is that a conscript army is militarizing the citizens of the empire, to police themselves, to weaponize their nationalism and loyalty to directly serve the New Order and further insure indoctrination by recruiting the citizens
    Palpatine was creating a militaristic society which his own citizens are conquering and policing themselves, having more reason to be loyal than a clone that’s a slave solder

    • @LordWyatt
      @LordWyatt ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well said. There are weaknesses to this strategy that weren’t addressed in the 19 years of transition: most slave soldiers in the Empire had low moral viewing themselves as an insignificant cog in the imperial machine serving the Emperor, they didn’t change the training from fighting clone wars era battle droids to thinking revolutionary rebels (which many battles from the clone wars would have taught), any lives lost on both sides hurts the Imperium rather than soulless droids or purposefully bred Clones.
      That said I agree, just think there were almost as many benefits to the clones as recruiting locals🤔the inhibitor chips alone are a good deterrent

    Be using normal people as soldiers for massive empire, Palpatine gave poor people massive job opportunity. He basically lower unemployment (together with fact, that droids played bad guys in clone Wars and weren't popular) and make change from Republic to Empire positive change.

  • @terranempire2
    @terranempire2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    A number of episodes in the Clone wars makes it clear the tactical and strategic issues of Kamino. The Droid army attempted to besiege the planet in an offensive.
    This said the thing that has to be remembered is the Storm troopers are supposed to be among the elite forces of the Empire. The bulk of the Galactic Empire’s forces were the galactic army. The way of indoctrination of the Stormtroopers causes a fundamental problem for them. They are treated more droid like than the Clones. The clones broke with the droid like situation they were in encouraged by the Jedi to act individually, take names and assert themselves. The storm trooper corps functions with a contradiction they are encouraged to act as individuals to succeed yet treated as cogs in the machine.

    • @tristankawatsuma8962
      @tristankawatsuma8962 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, you have to admit Kamino would be a pain to guard. Even if you lock down the Abrion Sector with the planets Rishi and Scarif that is connected to the Extragalactic planet, it’s just so far. Heck, most of the sector seceded in the start of the war. Imagine how hard the Republic had to fight to hold onto Rishi and the other loyal planets to keep connected to Kamino.

  • @DyrianLightbringer
    @DyrianLightbringer ปีที่แล้ว

    There is one MAJOR hole in the Clone Wars that you just pointed out. The clones take 9-10 years to mature, but the Clone Wars only lasted 3 years. That means, it would have been impossible for the Republic to order more clones on demand. They would have had to know a decade before they were needed, but the Republic didn't even know the clones existed before the war began, only Dooku and Sidious knew. Yet, there is an episode of the Clone Wars were the senate is debating about paying Kamino for additional clones. This episode makes no sense. All clones would have had to be commissioned long ago. Any being paid for now wouldn't be ready for another decade.

  • @mangosofdoom

    Wouldn't making the storm troopers just regular people also mean they had families to mourn them if they were killed by rebels, thus potentially turning public opinion against the rebels in some cases.

  • @kildi6899
    @kildi6899 ปีที่แล้ว

    this video ignores everything of importance. Palpatin dismantled clones, because he wanted to a)get the cloning tech for himself b)destroy kaminoans, who were a powerful group in the senate and had dirt on him. c)make empire a police state by militarizing as much of the population as possible. d) secure funds for the death Star.

    Clones short life spans make them a bad long term option as soldiers in peace time. In the clone war where they were being killed often and diminished the initial supply, but in peace time they were expensive to replace and given Palpatines intended expansion they would have been a bad investment over volunteers and conscripted soldiers.

    Sidious “grand plan” has, unfortunately, been the beneficiary of endless coverage, contemplation, repetitive retelling and re-examination, which on TH-cam has reached an almost obsessive-compulsive degree. Because of this, a fairly obvious thing about the “grand scheme” is regularly lost. Namely, it wasn’t all that grand. First, remember Sidious INHERITED from Darth Plagueis (whom he murdered not defeated in single combat; so, Sidious right off the bat is a coward) a coward who inherited generations of systematic corruption of the Senate and the economic system of the Republic. All Sidious had to do was play a “double game”: pretend to be the Jedi-irritating but beloved chancellor Palpatine leading the Republic but ultimately be Darth Sidious, the evil Sith Lord aimed at destroying the Jedi and the Republic. Whose very proximity undermined all the Jedi’s useful powers and meant all he needed to do was turn in a decent acting job, spend his spare time putting his owned men and true believes in places of power and wait for the Jedi to get close. He even left a trail of breadcrumbs that, had Obiwan been born with the brains god gave the common stone, he would have figured it out while battling Jango Fett.
