I was always under the impression that the cult members didn’t die the night they tried to burn Alessa, as they all ran out and the room was empty when the police arrived and saved Alessa. The cult members were actually still alive, but transported to the Silent Hill that was separated from normal reality by the demon that helps Alessa get her revenge. They even show the cult members doing supply/food runs and rushing back to the church when the sirens sound. They say in the movie that their faith keeps her (the demon) out of the church, which is why she needed Rose to “smuggle” her inside. They honestly did a good job of explaining everything within the movie.
Love the videos Paul, but I have to correct you. Only the Silent Hill film is based on Centralia, PA, not the game's version of SH. Team Silent - the original Japanese Konami creators of the first 4 games - have always denied that there's a fire under the town, or that it's based on any real world location. Mashiro Ito has tweeted several times about his frustration with this misconception. Team Silent as a whole, hate the Centralia link, they see their games featuring fog and snow, not gas and ash as depicted in the film.
Those miners carying the birds in cages is a reference to a safety measure miners used. Those birds are very sensitive to poisonous gasses often encountered in mines and often warned the miners in advance.
Hey everyone, we've got two versions of the audio on here. The first has the Silent Hill soundtrack throughout if you want a bit more atmosphere. If that's too overpowering you can select the different language track and listen to it without. Thanks, Paul.
A question: as you have a chestburster T-shirt, do you also have a T-shirt of Jonesy catching it? Saw this image once of Jonesy walking through a corridor with the chestburster in his mouth and in the corner: Alien, the short version.
Instead of Stigmata reference, I always assumed the scars on Gucci’s hands were from when he rescued Alessa from the fire. In fact that’s exactly what it’s from iirc.
Huge thank you for checking out the video. Would love to hear your feedback on the music and if it's too loud or you'd rather it wasn't needed. Can easily switch in another audio track if you guys would rather listen to it without. Thanks, Paul.
The music is great - no problem at all 🙂 I love the budgie in a cage being used by the Silent Hill miner-searchers...since a budgie was used in real life by miners to determine if the air had gotten dangerous and the miners needed to leave quickly, as the budgie could tell if the air had gotten toxic before the miners could realize it...thought it was a nice touch to tell the Silent Hill 'miners' that the environment was changing ("growing toxic") so they would know to leave before they were caught in the hell-world version. Showed how the directors even linked such little items back to the mine fire history of Silent Hill. Silent Hill is a movie I watch no matter how many times it comes on TV. It's one of those movies that has so much thought put into every aspect of it. Really love it.
Silent hill homecoming was first announced as Silent hill 5, however it was changed to homecoming. And it was clear that it was heavily inspired by the movie
I'm pretty sure in the hospital scene of the film a demon explains the deal that was made where they split the soul in 2 and the pure side was allowed to live as normal, whilst the dark side stayed to get revenge.
@@MaxskiSynths - What I find most interesting about this comment, is that this is considered unusual or surprising. In the town where I grew up, there were two theaters, the old twin one, and the new Odeon 4 plex; Most of the best Movies were of course scooped up by the 4 cinema one, which was on the other end of the town from where we lived, so it was easily a good 45 - 60 minute drive, so for me, driving an hour to see a movie was just .. I dunno .. Movie night? Strikes me as a bizarre mentality that people thinking it is unusual to take 30 to 60 minutes to reach a location when you went out. heck it was like a 15 minute drive at least just to get to the corner store. I don't know why some people don't like this film. I know it plays it loose with some of the lore but overall it captures the atmosphere of the games very well.
Back when I was in middle school, to us PC nerds, you were either a C&C kid, or a Starcraft/Warcraft kid! Lol! Later in high school though, I think you are right for a broad spectrum of people! You were just kinda a Resident Evil kid or a SH kid! Depending on what system you played essentially. And this was only because SH came out exclusively on the PS1! Lol!
RE2 was so dope. Then Silent Hill and especially Silent Hill 2 were even better. Too young so I used to watch the Simpsons after playing so that I could sleep. 😅
I remember this movie getting crapped on alot when it first came out but I always have had a soft spot for it. What I enjoyed was during a time when almost everything in cinema was pure CGI, this film chose to do mostly practical effects enhanced with CGI.
It’s so wild that Laurie didn’t like her hair short. The moment when she rips off that helmet and jacket and you see this stacked gorgeous blond with short hair omfg I swear it was my bisexual awakening.
Great details and comedy as usual!! Audio is okay from speaker but I think it may be a little too much on certain headphones/earbuds. Also how is any Wickerman breakdown coming along?
Gonna start it December. I’m just worried about the copyright issues with studio canal. Cheers for your comments on the audio. Might upload a music free version to select with the language settings.
29:25…I could be wrong, but I think Alice Krieg might have been partially inspired in her performance by a Pentecostal faith healer from the ‘70s named Kathryn Kuhlman. I watched the movie with two people who were raised in a fundamentalist household and they both instantly remarked on the similarities.
1 of my favorite movies, very underrated, for a 1st go at a live-action representation of this franchise, pretty good, and compared with RE kinda like a masterpiece, quality-wise
i never heard the silent hill warning siren in real life until i moved to a small town, and when i did . . . . well that was triggering. im used to the tornado sirens of citys, very electronic sounding, hearing a manual siren like that in a creepy woodland area . man never getting that experience again.

Great video. I think my favorite thing about this movie is that Sean Bean, who famously dies in everything, survived Silent Hill not once, but twice.
He is the chosen one.
Yeah!!! This achievement is so underated 🤪
Yea, and gets the most depressing ending of all time. Arguably worse than death.

I get sick of hearing that “fun fact” about Centrailia which is completely separate from the games.
@neurohack9038 same mate, it annoys me as much as it annoys Team Silent haha.
Very cool to me that they filmed the nurses performances walking backwards, then reversed the recording for that unsettling, "off" feel.

Right, the games are based on Kindergarten Cop.
