After proving that he will win against any player in the world, magnus seems to have switched to proving he can win any position against any player in the world. just insane.
Point being , he is going intentionally into positions that these people have studied to an extreme degree, and beating them at their own game. Commentators mentioned during this match that this specific setup was Rapports speciality.
Richard should’ve had it. The way Magnus uses pawns to tilt people is just brilliant. It completely throws people off their game knowing Magnus’ pawns are marching to become promoted.
Magnus is playing so slowly and so precisely he is choking his opponents out of resources. Its a terrible feeling when you only really made one mistake, and were strangled from that point on
Best comment I've seen this week! I've been saying this ever since Ding won the world title last year. And honestly, I think this is why Ding has been playing so poorly since his WC match with Nepo. He knows that "on paper" he is the WC, but in reality, Magnus Carlsen is still WC: Ding simply doesn't deserve the title. And I believe that this cognitive dissonance inside of him has been eating him up inside, and that is what is causing him to play so poorly. I honestly feel really bad for the guy.
I appreciate Magnus's play, but some of the comments seem so out of context. Calm down people, Rapport is like world number 35 or whatever the actual number is. He is that far back that no one even knows. Its normal for a world number one to beat him. Like Djokovic beating Norrie in tennis.
Only Djokovic wouldn’t be able to beat a good many of the Top 10 at the moment, certainly not the Top 5. Carlsen’s play was nothing spectacular - it was Richard’s game to lose and he made a few very ill-timed blunders.
Richard proved to be the only real Competition Magnus faced in this Tournament No great surprises some Great games Congrats Magnus by now everyone must know he drew his last game vs Rapport sorry if I spoiled next video for you 😅 Onward to Candidates
Really ? Have you not noticed how much he hesitates and stutters throughout his videos ? A perfect example of this can be heard at 13.10 - the constant ughs, ers, ahs etc makes it almost painful to listen to. I'm sure it wasn't always like this. Maybe he's just becoming lazy and sloppy as well as formulaic and repetitive . Pains me to say it as for the last five years he was easily my favourite chess channel .
@@carlorossi6462 with the amount of stuff he's doing at once I'm really not expecting him to get through an entire video without a single filler, especially since that's exactly the kind of raw unfiltered thing that makes him so charming to begin with

when you're a low level like me... you definately prefer tal videos over petrosian... i respect petrosian and positional play... but its lost on me...yawn... i like it when agad says, "now.... look at this.... this is the good stuff..." and its always a shocking sacrifice

You have to like Rapport. He hardly ever plays a dull game.
French Defense games are always exciting
He has amazing tactical middle game, but his weakness is endgame
Honestly more inspired with my own playing by Rapport than Magnus. Endgame is Magnus all day but spicy mid game moves for Rapport.
Cant take away anything from one of the GOATs like Magnus, but id say Rapport is a more exciting player!
richard is the only player who not cheat
"Mmmm.... yes, this should be a great thumbnail" Richard, probably
The level that magnus displays sometimes is even hard to belive that it's possible to play this good

You’re on to something here. I thought I noticed it too. Just legacy building and competitive bliss for him probably.
sad day for chess
Magnus in the endgame is like facing the Chicago Bulls in the 96 playoffs.
Is that American Football?

2:20 "Queen captures on h5"
Ah, yes, capturing an invisible piece xD
Sorry about that.
Carlsen's queen is so powerful it can capture on empty square
Makes sense. Everyone's trying to assassinate the enemy king. maybe someone hired some invisible ninja assassins
agad does that frequently. i think he is getting old

King Richard always fun!

Poor ding forgot that he is wc.
Except he doesn't have the title, so your point is moot.
I think everybody knows that.
@@juangalton999 he might as well have it with how ding's been playing

"May be he get me this into thumbnail" Agad
Magnus is the cristiano Ronaldo of chess
My computer does the same thing. It just commits suicide before the end.
Had magnus not stepped down, it was impossible for anyone to snatch the title from him, at least for the next two decades.
I noticed sometimes the moves of a different game than the one you review in the video is in the description, is it possible to fix that?
"You could maybe hold with Perfect Moves but Magnus also plays Perfect moves." Mr. Agadmator
Magnus' mastery makes me happy.
Win or Lose Rapport games are always hits.
Magnus Carlsen is the boa constrictor of chess.

Seems that rumors of Magnus's demise have been greatly exaggerated.
A comment worthy of being quoted above the chess board. Well done. (slow golf clap)
Magnus sees threats and correctly prepares his moves accordingly.
Strange that I just got recommended and watched the video where Tal defeated Kasparov a month before his passing
Saw rapport i press it

This means you are showing a blunder as thumbnail
I most often do
A lot of people forget that Magnus can literally remember tens of thousands of games. He only ever loses to new/unfamiliar lately.
+@mattpike7268 no he can't lol humans can't remember that much
I like Richard style to play. His games are never boring!
This Guy is not human ; no one can play like Magnus…
Richard has had some bad luck in his French against Maggie and MVL recently. Bring in Karpov with his Caro-Kann instead.
The real WC.
I found the move lol. I knew it was a rook move since it was the only way to make progress
And after this he saves a completely lost position to win the final..he is an endgame monster..
Mr.Hoodie Guy has to be the only sponsor to also be a player. Incredible.
Risky Richie. As always🎉
Just we need ..”Hello from the other side” Adele sung..!

rapport definitely my favourite player out of all super GM‘s
i like keymer, gukesh and rapport. nice guys and always nice games. rapport is so creativ
I like keymer and dubov, keymer because he is so similar with Magnus, Dubov because he is so different from Magnus

In the very last game , he decided to prove he could draw a lost position.
The title should be Can Raport Handle the French Defense?
It's amazing how carlsen still keeps winning ,he is relentless 😅
Why aren't you covering Niemann games?
Wasn't that an overexcited bishop?
For this line to work out well for white, that a4 move is crucial.
