  • If you only want to receive notifications from specific email addresses in Gmail, then there is no built-in way to configure this. But you can use the Gmail notification feature and a filter to setup custom notifications for only the email addresses that you want to be notified about. You can add the email addresses you wish to be notified for in the filter and you can even change the notification sound. You will need to enable desktop notifications as well for this to work.

You said "it's not the best solution". I think its the only built-in solution in gmail. Good stuff!

The number of times I've missed a warhammer model restock because i didn't see the email until 2 days later is maddening. I don't understand why this isn't a specific option on Gmail

Hi! Thank you so much for breaking this down. What a great help! I’m just wondering… So when we go to Settings and turn important mail notifications on in Desktop Notifications, I’m obviously assuming that means that I will only get my special notification from the important person when I have my laptop open, yeah? So I’m just wondering if there a way to turn on the same effect for iOS as well? Thank you again!

I am subscribed to a mailing list. I want to receive notifications only from this mailing list but only for specific emails within this emailing list. I guess the option is to put certain keywords ('has the words' option), but when I do it just sents me everything. Help'?

there's a chrome extension called notifier for Gmail - that allows you to make notifications with custom sound files as well.
I'm not affiliated anyways I needed a way to make desktop notifications for our ticketing system and that was the most reliable option that popped with - the extension you don't have to sign in either so I like it so far.

I get notification when I open the mail. Never when it's closed. I don't understand that and I certainly don't see the point. I've done everything I should have but nothing helps.

Receiving notifications for "Important" things is now locked behind a TOS agreement...
So effectively this doesn't work anymore.

I don't think so because this is more of a Windows thing so your phone's OS would have to have a way to tie into Gmail for notifications.
