This was perfect...but the problem I have ran into is the {{First name}} worked when I included it in the Subject line. It would not post the {{First name}} when I posted in the body of the email. I made sure I copied it. Then I removed it from the Subject line and only copied it to the body and it still did not include the First name. What should I do? I really need this to work! It just feels comforting since I’ve been using Office 365 throughout college 😂 They actually also use quite a few other ERP softwares which can get confusing, really makes me wish things were more streamlined. First thing I realized after starting this internship is the fact that you won’t always see the textbook example of a centralized system irl 😔 It would either be too complicated to implement or the costs of implementing outweighs the benefits and time savings. Have you come across a similar situation during your time at EY, Jeff?
@@andrea_dong Haha yes we ran into similar issues while consulting for clients but it really depended on what the client wanted. If they wanted to pick 1 ERP system and stick with it, we'd find the best solution (or as close as possible) based on their needs and implement. And they would make a top-down decision to change their ways of doing things (i.e. the top boss would say this change is going to happen)
Interesting, so top-down is the dominant approach? :o in your opinion, would you say top-down is the best approach to system design/development or would bottom-up actually be more effective? I’m kinda conflicted on this topic since on one hand you wouldn’t want to stray too far from the overarching goal for a system (top-down) but on the other hand it could be more efficient if it suited the needs of the people who’ll actually be using it (bottom-up) 🤔 what are your thoughts on this?

try coping the content to new email, change the subject line a bit and try again. u need to copy the subject line and paste in the mail merge box when it appears
@@JeffSu I followed the instructions. Only the recipient and email sent format worked, every other thing doesn't. In the Apps script, it only shows that the Recipient and Email Sent col was included. So in the end, only the emails are personalized, the body of the mail doesn't work. Could you look into this.

Thank you! I am using Google contacts by saving importing their email. My last try was for 350 persons. Once their email was imported and set specific label, i just use it by typing the label in the TO select the label and all the emails are inserted. I will try this tip as you suggested, thanks. I was really hoping I could send a mass email to all the people on my mailing list but unfortunately I get an error saying " Service invoked too many times for one day: email." I wish this wasn't the case, I was extremely excited because I have a song that I've just dropped.
While the test emails did go to the right Recipient (two emails of mine; this was a test), the fields in the email that were within squiggly parentheses did NOT appear in my email.

Its because you need to check your capitalisation in the spreadsheet. It's actually {{First name}} (lower case n)

Great video Jeff. But do you have a tip for sending out customized pdfs attached to each specific mail? For example invoices or coupons?
Hm...that's a bit more advanced but I think it's do-able with a more advanced Script 😂
