At the age of 26, when he ascended to the throne, Sultan Suleiman aimed to build an empire more powerful than Alexander the Great and to render the Ottomans invincible. Throughout his 46-year reign, he became the greatest warrior and ruler of both East and West.
The young Suleiman received news of his succession to the throne during a hunting party in 1520. Unaware that he would be ruling a reign beyond his dreams, he left behind his wife son and took to the road with his close friend and companion Pargali Ibrahim to reach the Topkapi Palace in Istanbul. As they started their journey overland, an Ottoman ship set sail from Crimea in the Black Sea, bringing female slaves as gifts for the Ottoman palace… On this ship was Alexandra La Rossa, the daughter of a Ukrainian Orthodox minister, taken away from her family and sold to the Crimean palace. She had no idea that she would become Hurrem, wife of Sultan Suleiman and mother of princes, ruling the empire with him through bloodshed and intrigue.
As Sultan Suleiman conquered the world, his great passion for Hurrem would clash with his love for and trust in his closest friend and advisor, Grand Vizier Pargali Ibrahim, all set against the backdrop of the tension between Christian Europe and the Ottoman Empire in the 16th century.

Mustafa’s and Bayezid’s are just tragic. Suleiman died like a boss after a successful Sultanate, Valide died too early, and Hürrem died in the way she wanted, with her lover. We’re just missing Selim slipping in the hamam 😂
Why not mention Hatice...I thought it was quite sad but that's because she's my favorite character so.

The last scene of Suleiman dying always makes me emotional. It symbolizes the end of this journey so well. The show started so pure, so innocent.. it ended with so much tragedy and pain. What a journey indeed.

Yes. He is the protagonist and he lived very long in his time. At the end he is measured: Has he lived a worthy life? Was he a good ruler? Life is about for everyone, especially for rulers to have to do sins or they will fail. No life exist without sin. This is one "substantia rei" of this TV show.
@@laistvan2 he should wonder if he was a good father, a good father and if he was a good man or maybe a man who was crazy, who had been corrupted by the power and the Sultanate. Because in the end, he ended up alone, instead of having his family at his side. Personally, I think that it is better to live a normal life and being only a father, than to be the Sultan. I see Syleiman's mistake here: he forgot that he was also a father, except from a Sultan. He had his mention and interest only to be a good ruler and forget that he was a human.
@@dionysiossmaragdis2844 Those time people died very quckly because of sickness, pandemics, wars etc etc. Civil war caused more killing than the fracticide. But this customs were regular in that time: e. g. Tasmasps, Philip II imprisoned theirn own sons, some rules executed them(Mithridates of Pontus, Herodes, Constantinus I, Peter the Great etc) even some mothers made kill some of their sons(Euridyce, Irene, Kösem) because that was the interest of the country and the dynasty as well. Father and son connection war far weaker than in a regular family but bad connection could be everywhere(not only about money and power but sons didn't follow what their father advise or turn against them. Sentimentalism spreaded just because of more and more family has only one children.

Cihangir deserved that ending. No hunchback, no pain, and he gets to see his beloved brother again. I absolutely sobbed during that scene.

People who worked a the drama's as technic set team told that the most difficult scene for them was Mustafa coming all in white to talk with his father and the scene of Mustafa's death.
They told that they did the scene 3 times because it was emotionnally too intense, too difficult for all people there: this scene was so deeply sad so difficult that especially Halit Ergenç the actor who played Suleyman cried in the scene when Mustafa struggled to defend himself and shout him "father"..
Mehmet Günsur, the actor who played Mustafa was also emotionnaly touched in the scene where a soldier cut him off and said "Prince Mustafa, don't go there, I beg you"..
For me too, the most dramatic part of the drama is Mustafa's death, I am so sad for a loyal and good man who saw the lonelyness during his entire life and the lonelyness even while dying, how he waited until the last second just for a sign of love from his father: this breaks my heart so much..
Hurrem was cruel to the point of causing this with Rustem..
Mustafa's death is the most emotional one. Suleiman was a coward here.

This was painful to re watch but what a brilliant cast, these Turkish actors should be up there amongst the A listers. This is one of my favourite TV shows ever ... right up there with Game of thrones 👑 . A truly magnificent show! Bravo Turkey 🇹🇷 👏🏽

It would appear that they only included those of Royal blood. I mean, there was also Rustem (& his brother), Nigar, & more. So, seems like they only considered the Royal blood.

@@arrinkkauuu Yes, Hürrem didn’t have royal blood herself, but she was the mother of a king, and pretty much all the Ottoman sultans after Suleiman carried her blood. And she was not a slave. She was freed and legally married to the Sultan.

It's a bitter pleasure to know the sweetest and gentlest soul of them all Mehmed left with all the love he got in his life before the ambitions of Selim or short sightedness of Suleiman could have ultimately killed him in a far off land.

This was still when the fratricide law was in place. Regardless of who succeeded Suleiman, they would have to had kill their brothers and any sons they had. So cruel.

this series has been like someone shoved their fist into my heart and crushed it like a ripe tomato. i ve cried my eyes out throughout. I m not over Mustafa’s death after a year! i rewatch it and almost hope he won’t die this time. these actors are so good in playing drama and death and suffering that hollywood’s movies look like high school plays in comparison🤣🤣🤣🤣

I searched "All deaths in Magnificent Century" for a long time. Finally, you did it 🙏 Thanks! But you also you should have included the death of: Gülșah, Nazlî, Fahya Kalfa, Nigar, Nazenin, Huricihan, Fatma Hatun, Ibrahim Pașa, Atmaca, Rüstem, Raziye, Rana, Ayaz, Ayşe Hatun...
Some of those characters died off screen, well, by some I mean like only Raziye.

Sulieman did not die in his homeland so they had to bury his heart and entrails in the place he died. His body was returned to Turkey for burial
