    These videos are a blessing. I always watch one before I play and have a decent performance. Also went from 900 to 1300 in rapid and still climbing. Would love to see a Catalan game

    Been watching the speedrun nightly. My rating has improved, but my enjoyment of the game has skyrocketed. Now I have some strategy behind every move I make, even if it's not always the right one :) Thanks for the great content as always.

    21:21 Engine gives this position -1.38 in Black's favor on stockfish depth 30. Very close guesses from Danya (-1.7 was his guess)

      @@kruksog I didn't see anyone else with an eval number so I plugged it in for myself. After Qxc3 the engine is closer at -1.55 for black!

      stockfish depth 20 evaluates the position -0.8 for black

      On higher and higher depths Stockfish 16 ranges from -0.96 to -1.14, having run it to a billion nodes (depth 55).

    One of my favorite tropes in Grandmaster chess vids is how they proceed with game and the commentary discusses "simple chess" with a lot of consecutive nice positional moves. Then *BAM* you get hit with this galaxy brain forced sequence starting with a 4 piece sacrifice and a 17 move mating net out of nowhere.

      I rarely face open sicilians online. Mostly people play the bowdler (italian setup) the alapin or the mccdonnel. However in my otb gamed the open sicilian is what I face the most.

    Great content as always. Would love to see some instructional videos that try to fully cover an opening and all the main lines in ONE video so that I can study and learn from it.
    These videos are also great but requires viewing a lot of them to see how to respond to certain moves.

    Ne8 was my first a-ha moment in chess 😆 I was 7 and only knew some basic chess and my opponent was pretty much the same but he knew this idea with Qg3 and Bh6 threatening mate or winning the exchange and he went for it. It took me 5 minutes to discover Ne8 over the board but after that my opponent didn’t know what else to play and I proceeded to win the game 😆

    Sooo, White playing Nb5 at 16:15 threatening a fork on c7.. We counter with Nxd4 and on Nc7 we play Qc6 threatening Qxc7 if the Knight on d4 is captured and if Nxa8, then we remove our Knight from d4 and eventually capture the Knight on a8 (then it would be two minors for the took)? Or how does this work?

    I am beginning Scandinavian player and that position at move there kinda looked like weird scandi and it's already felt advantageous because you opened useful c file for queen attack/retreat and white didn't developed any knights. The following development ideas also felt a lot like scandi with Bf5 and e6 preparing to castle long, so kinda curious thing

    it's always the wrong rook - btw, altho I'm not sure, I think that the wrong rook came up in Marshall Capablanca, when the a-rook instead of the f-rook locked the king in a box - idk, i'm not sure, maybe

    Great video. How do you handle 1.e4 c5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.c3 where after 3...d5 4.exd5 we cannot play 4...Nf6

      in that line you have to play Qxd5 because your opponent played the delayed alapin(3.c3) you can only play that Nf6 approach if the opening is alapin(2.c3)

      @@MrKostaja Its always the light squared bishop that causes the problem lol. I always played Nf6 aganist alapin and i do quite well with it. You can try that line if you want, daniel played Nf6 in at least 2-3 videos i believe. Also if you are struggling aganist alapin i recommend you to study how to play aganist an iqp because most alapin games lead to the iqp structure.

    So when a lowlevel guy loses to a grandmaster in disguise, does he get some sort of bonus after the fact? Even just an message letting them know who that was, because it would be cool to know why your opponent seemed a thousand points higher than their rating. Otherwise he might think he's fighting Stockfish.

      they get their rating refunded, i know that much. i assume that comes with a message explaining why it was refunded, but i'm not sure about that

      IQP is good during middle game with pieces to attack. However if you trade everything, it’s a vulnerable pawn difficult to defend in the endgame.

    It's really frustrating on the lower Levels.. the Open Sicilian ist the Most fun opening of all Times ever. And Nobody wants to play it because they think all the 1600s have some insane GM prep...
