      Its a ton of fun haha :D
      I've personally had a lot of games where that kind of hyper aggresive play works out (sacking the bishop for initiative on the king, etc), and once you get a taste of that drug its hard to resist.
      Unfortunately I often get impatient when calculating and I see a strong position that I feel should have some attacking ideas and I rush into it without actually finding them (or theyre not there) and then I fall apart. The biggest hurdle im dealing with these days in chess is knowing when to take my foot off the gas lol.
      (not the player from the game btw just another player who enjoys this style of play)

    This reminds me of a boxing match between a street brawler and a professional boxer. The brawler swings wildly while the seasoned boxer covers up - but only temporarily. Eventually, the brawler wears himself out and it's the boxer who comes out swinging. A long time ago I coined a phrase for games like this. When my opponent's aggressive attack petered out, I would say, "He has run out of quarters." He can't keep the attacking going by inserting another quarter into the machine. He's done. GAME OVER.

    Have to push back on what you said in the match. After white pushes f5, you rule out Bxf5 as a bad move that walks into a trap. But even then, I thought Bxf5 was the better move, and if g4 then just drop the bishop back. Pawn structure in the corner is still good and whites given you a pawn for no gain

    At 11:33, I see a flaw in your analysis.
    White can play the forcing g4! which should result in a win and no less than a draw. The move checks the Black king and almost forces White to accept the sac of the Bishop on h4, which is followed by Qg3+. That forces the King to g5 (no other move) followed by gxf5+. The pawn can't be captured or it's Qg4 mate. So the K is forced to the h file and then the question is whether White can somehow bring the R into play for mate... Otherwise White regains the sacrificed material with fxe6 (I doubt White can survive capturing with the Rook). White is left with an overwhelming position yet I don't see a forcing line that results in mate. A major branch in this line is if Black exchanges the pawns on g4 instead of the K capturing the Bh4 immediately, but I dismissed that because it opens up plenty of additional lines against the Black K which almost guaranteed the White R will be able to participate in the attack.
    I didn't put this into a computer which would obviously do better analysis than what I can offer, but what I described is pretty forcing.
    Additionally, side comment about the first half of this video...
    I appreciate that several chosen moves are the more practical choice which is fine if you're trying to burn less time and when you're the stronger player you have little reason to risk any more than necessary, but more aggressive choices exist that based on hard calculation don't lead to inferior positions. I'm talking particularly of the choice not to take the pawn f4 with the Nd5 and if not that then later Qd4 attacking both the Bc4 and the pawn f4. In fact, IMO unless you want to just leave the f4 pawn as a wasted move that resulted in a weakness that can be exploited at any time, the Qd4 maneuver might have been important to prevent White from playing an early d4, sacrificing the pawn to speed development of the QB.

  • @BeesAndSunshine
    @BeesAndSunshine ปีที่แล้ว

    King is a very strong attacking and defending piece, if it wasn't for the fact that you can't lose it I think it would be stronger than a Knight. Compared to the Knight it attacks the same number of squares, and is shorter range, but significantly less geometrically awkward.

    This video shows why GM unsound play is so successful at lower levels. Count the number of times how often Danya has to calculate a rathe tricky tactic correctly to nit either get mated or lose material. At lower level, it is just not likely that you get all those calculations currectly.

    Great videos, learning a lot from them. One issue I am having is how to take notes on these lines. Is it best to just write them up in word using notation? or are there specific programmes where I can make notes alongside a PGN etc. I think a video on how to study and take notes on openings beyond your videos would be very useful

      You can use a lichess study or an analysis board
