I loved the tamontia machetes I used to get cheap. 14 inch my favorite. If I could only have one blade that's definitely a contender. Sorry I lost my cheap source. They are or were tapered to the tip. Served me so well through so much use and abuse. Gave several away to friends I wish I had now.😂

Thank you. Yeah I gave it a good try. Though I could have dried the tender out by putting it in my pocket for a while.

How not to use a ferro rod part 1.

Highly advise you look up proper ferro rod usage. Some adjustments to your technique would have easily resulted in a fire, even with that machete as your striker.

Thank you, I sure will, How would you have done it? If you happen to know of a better method I would be more then happy to try it.

    Has that blade been hot?

Spark test means nothing. Not in design parameters. Need a sharp spine grind a spot sharp.

The wood was too damp , if id used cotton with jelly it would have worked easy. though I could for sure make a better spot on the spine.

At the rate you’re going, you won’t have that ferro rod for much longer. That was painful to watch. Next time, bury the machete into the log, like you did at the end, put your tinder on the other side and strike your ferro rod. You’ll have better luck.

being that it was simply too wet the rod was not going to work, it would not catch flame even with a bic, the point of the video was to try and see if I could useing just the rod in very wet conditions. Thank for watching.

When you put the timber to your face, you said it was dry…..? 🤷🏻‍♂️ Your words.

@@adammcguinness9950 my skin had gotten too cold by the time i did that test to my face. To be honest I was rushing too much to try and get the video made. I should had taken my time and tryed harder.
