Outdoorlife Fix Blade Knife -An Outhouse Review
Thank you for the review. I picked this hatchet up two weeks ago due to this review.
Hello. Happy new year. Pretty knife, wish I had one
I now own 8 Eafengrow knives.. and too be absolutely truthful. I have zero complaints about thir products. Just too be clear, my cabin is off grid in Alaska interior. I actually have a knife fetish i think. My old military days have imprinted into my personality. I carry this knife as a neck knife. I have worked this small knife fairly hard. I use my knives, but i do not beat them up. Im not big on batoning wood with my knife. I carry a Gransfor bruks axe and a silky saw. My sheath knife is a cold steel trailmaster. However this small knife pretty much handles everything else.. i like this blade a lot.
I have used the draw sharpener on that sheath for light honing and it seems to work well.
What do you use to batten with sir
Case knives, considered tried and true in my neck of the woods. Nice pocket knife, and that smaller blade cutting the wood, those sounds are therapeutic 😊
Yeah man. I consider carving wood therapy lol
My plan was to buy a nice case knife years and years ago (1989ish). Before I got a chance to, a buddy of mine back then gave me an Irish made Imperial lock blade knife. It was cheap at least for the time. I figured it would wear out soon or I would lose it and then I would buy my Case. I'm still carrying the stupid thing lol. I guess I should give up and just buy a Case and be done with it.
@@RandallsLittleAdventures good to know it was a good knife.

Does this come knife sharp ? or does it need sharpening when new?
@@roughcollielover1784 it was sharp. I did hiw ever hone it up some
Along with everyone else, Congratulations Brother!!! I worked a similar maint job for 20 years, never was there a boring day! We'll be here when ya get back!!!
Thank ya kindly
great video an good showing my friend i would like to see it being sharpened an then redo another video to see the differents thank you for sharing
12 inch machete is the perfect survival tool. Can actually pack it, can actually get work done with it. Too bad Ontario is dead. Glad I got 3 Ontario 12" machetes before the were gone. Tramontina also makes a thinner 12" machete which I also enjoy for backpacking when I otherwise have modern gear. For a "bushcraft" kit, the thicker Ontario is awesome.
Impressive edge retention, great test of this hatchet. Will likely be adding one to the collection.
Congratulations on the new job. Gotta look out for number 1 and the family first.
You are absolutely correct
And thank you

Sadly the heat treatment on these is meh… It has become my camping food knife. Too soft of anything other than that from my personal experience.

I have an ozark multitool might looking at getting the wave or multi force and upgrading haven’t made my mind up yet however
@@TheLaughinginthedark the upgrade is worth it in my opinion
I got mine about,10yrs ago the handle revits were kinda coming apart so I pulled out my tap and die set and a small vise grip just to hold them and patiently thread them put it back together and never had any more problems I love the size and the weight some guys complain about the handle is a little big but for me they're just right I took a smaller blabe and round off the slight square off the handle perfect they were made just for my oversized paws
@@hubertrobinson8825 having big hands makes handles a little difficult

I carried knives like that from when I was a kid up to the early 90's when I started carrying a folder. I still use one often when I want to save the edge on my folder.

I prefer this type of blade. Great for cutting most everything in the field including cordage as well as wood processing as shown. The included saw is is beneficial. A much better choice as apposed to a single blade knife in a survival situation. The can openervcan be used as a blade as well.
@@mikebsbd it is far more useful then just a knife. Very easy to carry too.
Also, would love to see an old leaf spring turn into an edc blade 👍
I was hopeing to fire the forge up but been so busy with life stuff I am haveing issues getting much else done.
Definitely good looking little knife, sad when edge retention is the downfall! Talking of the Eafengrow, which I own none 😢 I was first introduced to them from a gentleman in Walmart of all places. He saw me looking at the gerber Moment and spoke up, looking for a good knife, ever heard of Eafengrow? And so off to amazon I went lol. At the time, they just didn't have what I was looking for, an estimated 4" drop point blade and full tang. Shame, Id loved to have picked one up for the challenges!
They are good knives. If you happen to get one I think you will enjoy it.
Really nice share
Thank you much
@ you are most welcome!
Why are you holding it like that. Use the bright orange straps. Don't hold the chain.
@@MrBumpy2013 no preticular reasons. Like I said thats the first time I have ever used one. Even mentioned I wasn't sure if I was holding it right.
@@MrBumpy2013 wasn't actually holding the chain. There is a metal triangle before the chain. That's what I was holding

Wonder if it was just a bad batch of heat treated knives?
That could have happened. I bought the others spread out over a few years though. however if it was around the time they was deciding to end the line, all of them might have not been given much care in constrution.
Afternoon !
Good afternoon to you as well.
I got one of those for free 5 years ago . I haven't used it yet, After seeing how bad they are I won't use it. thanks for the test.
