    For anyone watching unfamiliar with rat care, please note that they are animals that most thrive in groups, around 2-3 is ideal!! In that setup, the rat would get extremely depressed and wouldn't get enough exercise or enrichment in. That size cage is also much too small, so if you're considering getting rats as pets please research very heavily!!!!

    • @rattentube2763
      @rattentube2763 ปีที่แล้ว +22

      I'm glad that you said that. Lots of people think that Rats are smale and therefore just need a very smal cages and that they can live by them selves. When actually they have to be held in groups and large cages with playtime outside of the cage and a variety of food featuring korns,veggies,nuts and so on. They are also so intelligent therefore you have to spend lots time with them and keeping then occupyed. But it pays of they are the moast sweetest creatures I'f ever meet. They give lots of affection and love back ❤

    I love tha Sophie and Tom (Bonnie's fur parents) have allowed their young people to be present, so many people want to shield their children from the realities of life, but it's good to allow them to be part of the process. It's also lovely to see Tom's gratitude to Nathan for turning out in the middle of the night. And what can we say about the wonderful vets and vet nurses who give their all. It's horrible when something bad happens to pets, but when you are petsitting for that pet, the guilt is through the roof. Was watching my neighbours indoor cats and while I was taking the older of the two for a night walk around the courtyard (in a leash) the younger one escaped. It was dark and I had no idea of he had leapt off the courtyard to the street below and I was freaking out!
      Turns out he had just been walking the same path we'd been, he was a little jealous I guess 😅 he returned on his own not 5 minutes later, accepting bribes of treats to come back inside.

    They never tell you how many times the mothers reject their puppies after a c-section. The rescue I foster for had me get a pregnant mom from the pound. She had to have a c-section and totally rejected her puppies.....all SIXTEEN of them. Fosters worked around the clock feeding the pups; keeping them warm etc. In the end only 6 pups survived; which would have been a normal size litter. Mom was so stuffed full of puppies, that her internal organs were moved around and cramped. She did not recover after spending days in the hospital. So important....SPAY AND NEUTER your pets!

    I would like to share my story of my old dog with you, who passed away 3 months ago. She wasn't so lucky, she had more serious problems because of her age. My 13 years old dog was diagnosed with diabetes at age 13. With injections 2x a day, it worked well, he was in perfect condition. (more challenging was for us to overcome our fear of needles, haha). As the months passed, one night we find her lying on the ground. We went closer, and she had a seizure. It was one of my most horrific moments in my life. We went to the vet, who gave us medicine for occasions when the seizures are longer. We tried everything, the doctor said it is a tumor which caused neurological disorders. The medicine didn't work, continued having seizures nearly every 2 hours, by the end, she doesn't recognized us as we walked towards her, she was so scared and she had so much pain. We decided to put her under anesthesia, which was the hardest decision for us. By the way, we did our best for her, that's that only matters.:) We only have our 11 year old rabbit, who survived 2 surgeries. Now, he have his one eye stitched because of an abscess. I am a bit scared, only a few days left when we will check him with our vet that it is compulsory to remove his eye or not. It is always a risk, but I know vets are always trying their best. What I would like to say, having responsibility and doing everything for an animal being at any age and circumstances is the most beautiful part for me in life. I am so happy for Bear's results. Such a lovely dog. Every episode you save an animal or more, it melts my heart. I randomly found this channel, and get addicted. What vets do is amazing! I can't describe it well, but for me, you're heroes! Greetings from Hungary ♥

      I could not agree with you more. The part of it that no one thinks about is: everyone wants a puppy, but after the cute wears off, they are left with an adult dog. It infuriates me when such selfish people are allow their dogs to breed.

      @@ASG-hr5on Though in this event things go on the good way, in the end, i understand in big countries over breeding. I also thinking, adoptio is best. In our little country is difficulty to get adoptio dog. The criminal dog breeder get caught the often. In little country, the hints spills by internet and news.

    The rat doesn't have a large enough cage, and rats always need another rat friend. I recommend watching the rat guru videos on TH-cam. Very educational.

    I've been raising rats for well over 10 years now and the sneezing can definitely be a sign of upper respiratory infection. They are extremely sensitive to ANY kind of sent and their respiratory symptoms are extremely fragile. You shouldn't use a bedding that has dust. Fleece is the best but it's a lot of work to clean. They don't live long and you want to give them the best life. If you are watching this and are thinking about getting a rat, be sure to do lots of research and they can be expensive. The most important thing is ALWAYS get them in pairs. You need to have more then one. They sleep together, play, and even groom each other. Although you think you can dedicate time to them and you think they won't be lonely unfortunately that's not the case. They are highly intelligent and social, they need a cage mate. The cage in this episode is far too small even for one. There are exceptions to the friend rule cause some rats just can't live with others, but definitely get them a nice big cage. They love to climb, run, popcorn and need lots of room to do it all. They are very clean and can be litter trained. They're like mini dogs. I hope you enjoyed rats 101 lol. 😂🤣👍😁🇨🇦

    😂 it's certainly not a 9 to 5, job, I know I have had to take my dog's to the my local vet's at the most daft time's over the years, for different emergency's, also had to call them out too, when looking after horse's, it's definitely a 24/7 job 365 day's a year, and thank all vet's and their staff. Bonnie's owner saying that the idea of being responsible for the pups lives kinda annoyed me. Like, the second she allowed her dog to become pregnant, she was responsible for their lives.

    • @AccidentallyOnPurpose
      @AccidentallyOnPurpose 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I think she meant being handed the puppy because of them being short staffed due to it being in the middle of the night. Trying to revive a puppy can take some skill and it's easier for a vet to handle. She did everything she was supposed to do like getting proper vet care during the pregnancy and being attentive and knowing when to call a vet when labor starts.

    • @CoRLex-jh5vx
      @CoRLex-jh5vx 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@AccidentallyOnPurpose it was the wording, though. That she suddenly realised she was responsible for the puppies lives, when she's been responsible for them, the mother, and all the risks from the moment of conception. Just annoys me that so many people breed their dogs and never seem to consider there will be actual puppies with potential problems at the end of it.

    • @AccidentallyOnPurpose
      @AccidentallyOnPurpose 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@CoRLex-jh5vx I'm pretty sure she was aware she was responsible for the puppies, hence why she's been attentive to the mother the whole pregnancy. They originally bred her for the grieving process for the kids of losing their grandmother. Either after or during a csection the animal is spayed (depends on the vet's opinions on hormone levels), because an animal who has a csection to give birth will basically almost always need a csection.
      I am in agreeance that overbreeding is a problem, and that people should adopt more, but it's attacking the wrong target.
