Yeah, most of the TAS is a demonstration that 0 star is possible, while the bowser in the sky section is part of the previous any% TAS. We are making a new TAS where we'll improve the clips and make everything even more awesome

Reminds me of how Thousand-Year Door speedruns searched for faster ways to reach the teleporter room early and skip most of the game. The half-joke suggestion of "just clip through the door lol" ended up being exactly right; using absurdly precise positioning and movements, Mario simply walks through the corner of the door.

Many years ago on an old TAS of this game, back when the only sequence break you could do was skipping Bitdw. I read a comment which stated one day this game would have a 0 star route like its big brother, well here we are.
I love that DS is as broken as the original but in different ways, especially with walls apparently not existing. I also love SM64 DS since it involves my favorite character Yoshi so much!

i grew up playing this game and picked up a few speedrunning hacks of my own (slide-kicking up a hill was my earliest speedrun move), but this? this is IMPRESSIVE! i didnt even KNOW the ds version could quantum tunnel to this degree!!!! im new to the sm64ds speedrun community, so i can only feel excited about how other speedruns lay out!!!

I like 64 DS TAS speedruns better than OG 64 ones. The DS game is harder to break, so the glitches come off as more interesting and impressive to me. Also, warp door by falling through floor is a good tounge twister.

It's actually fairly simple: in SM64DS, loading zones are their own separate objects, and they are just placed behind doors! There's nothing special about the doors themselves. I don't know the details on how the loading zone "type" works unfortunately, but I can guess that when you enter a loading zone, it checks what action the character is performing: if they're walking through a door, then the effect gets changed. It's something along those lines, anyway. Hope that helps!

SM64 Shindou: First Frame Walljumping allows Mario to gradually gain speed to the point that he can fly through doors while going forwards. SM64DS: Walls and floors? What walls and floors? I'll just squeeeeeze right through, thank you very much
