started in 2020 with the carbon gtr. first board. loved it so much , i bought the entire line up. been riden all models ever since (except the renegade). i agree with jeff, boards needs a BALANCE. cant have a big chunky, super duper powerful board. Unless SOMEHOW batteries get smaller, the diablo is more then enough, perfect amount of range, and the BEST features and polish. Keep killen it guys!!
I started riding these boards years back when I bought the carbon GT. Since then I have progressed to the GTR bamboo then Hadean bamboo. I had zero doubts when it came to ordering the Diablo bamboo. The customer service is very good. The resale is never a problem. The board improvements over the years have been spot on. I'm a 57 year old adrenaline junkie, all winter I live in the mountains down in Queenstown New Zealand. Every day I snowboard. The rest of the year even though I have plenty of other adrenaline filled sports to keep me occupied, I would crave that snowboard buzz, my kitesurfing/boarding would come close but the weather is not alway cooperating. These boards fulfill that yearning, the carve and pop of the bamboo is so like riding my snowboard, with the added bonus of carving up the steepest hills. I thought the Hadean bamboo was my ultimate board. Evolve I'm sure you've created my next favourite.
I've had nothing but issues with my Hadean board, wheel rub, dead motor controller (twice), LED broken during warranty repair, etc., all in the span of a few months of owning it. I had a Stoke previously which had 3-4 motor failures and other assorted issues as well. I had high hopes for the Hadean (better than stoke?) but it's been a bad experience. I really hope Evolve ratchets up the quality control with the Diablo series. You can't be the Apple of electric skateboards unless you greatly improve quality control and design choices that influence usability (i.e., weather/water sealing issues on Hadean, undersized motors potentially causing them to prematurely die on multiple boards, etc.).
I'm a huge Evolve fan and customer, bought 7 boards since 2016. Have the Hadean Assault, which I absolutely love and will never sell. But gotta be honest. 50S is a terrible choice of cell, for ANY high amp draw application. It's a high capacity cell, not high amp. They'll overheat at anything over 15A continuous, not to mention having huge voltage sag. In a 4P configuration, that means 60A max. The Molicel P45B would've been a much better choice. But if course, they're more expensive. The addition of 2 more layers for the bamboo is welcome and very needed. Every time I ride my Hadean bamboo, I worry about the deck cracking. What is really needed: shredlights powered by the board. Would require a small DC-DC converter. But make use much more convenient. Now before every ride, I need to charge 6 separate things. Not trying to just give you shit, I love Evolve and my boards. But some not great choices have been made with recent products. (BTW, I've built 15 high-powered battery packs, including 2 for my evolve boards and a 29kW Surron pack.)
They’re not using high current draw with these cells, they know they can’t handle it. They wouldn’t get consistently high range from them if they did. It’s the same as marketing the Hadean with a 140a battery output, you could feel it was doing nothing close to that and it was getting much better range than vesc based equivalent boards. It’s just a manufacturer spec, 180a sounds better than half that or lower when marketing a product. I’m sure the motor amps have increased, those can handle 140a together and the esc is supposed to be rated for 200a and those will make a big difference even without that much from the battery.
Epic board, can you make a Vid with different ways of setting up the Evolve App for the Hadean and Diablo to make the most of the app, I’m sure there are different set ups for different Torque requirements for off road and carving that could be enhanced over the stock settings.
Okay I do have a couple of suggestions for improvement after riding the GTR. I bought the bamboo back in... 2021? And it still runs today. That being said, the connectors. Waterproof twist n click connectors! Mine is used as a little bit of a chill trail ride, and the bumps and wiggles jiggle the connector plug between the motor and esc loose. I do also use the 97 76a wheels because I like sliding when I hit streets but Colorado has a lot of not asphalt trails. I don't care much about acceleration, there's a level where more acceleration becomes unreasonable for casual riding and the gtr setting is already pretty close to it. Top speed 30mph is solid. I've eaten shit at gtr max speed and man did I get torn up. I could use a little more but at some point you have to start stiffening up your trucks and the board loses a bit of versatility. I think if you reach 160km on your range, it's something you can forever put a checkmark in and need no further improvement with unless battery tech makes an insane jump. Compatibility with BLHeli! It would be amazing if you guys allowed interplay between BLHeli and your boards so that custom remotes can be a thing. A sort of pointer finger second knuckle ring for speed control attached to a sort of partial glove with a flexible screen on the back of the hand would be amazing because it resolves the need to store your remote control. Plus you can display maps n stuff without whipping out your phone while going booku fast.
now that the board is very quiet at low speeds... I'd love to see Evolve release a remote capable of making some kind of noise to alert pedestrians (think a bike bell maybe?) You could map the dead man switch button to the noise and it would only make the noise if you press it while on the move.
A little spring loaded bell in your pocket works well. Please be careful about adding too many bells and whistles because minimal weight and slim size are king in this category of board; there are other categories of board that have huge battery packs mounted on the board and that is where the bells and whistles belongn
@@scienz0220 I should have been more clear... it would ofcourse be an electronic bell. The phaze remote already has a speaker in it to beep at us. That same speaker can be an electronic bell. The only thing added would be a button on the remote. Another dedicated button to control the lights so we dont have to slowly dig through the menu would be nice. ( Quickly turn them off when entering a park late at night, back on when merging into a bikelane )
@LORFCASTER shredlights have a phone app to group power switches of multiple lights, as well as functionality that automatically turns lights on and off when you step on and off the board. The lights mount to your helmet or board in a variety of ways. Maybe this would help you out. They are pretty expensive though
I'm waiting for a super light, lighter version of the GTR S2 - with a 30% smaller battery or a REMOVABLE battery like it used to be in the GTX! It would be great! Anyone else think so? Nobody offers a lightweight 2in1 board!
"it still needs to be ridable". -- that is the key, right there. So many people have boards that are just accidents waiting to happen or just really unpleasant to ride. I fully credit Evolve for making a board that is ridable by anyone, and allows people to *easily* make changes to the ride, to make the board "yours". "Range, speed and power" might be what people ask for - but if the ride is a twitchy nightmare, none of those matters, because you won't want to get on it, in the first place.
@@ajplant96 you know what, in Corsair or whatever the mode was called, I agree - but I like that you could adjust acceleration, etc. to suit, easily, via the app. I still prefer the flexibility of VESC but the Evolve app deserves credit.
@@ajplant96I have a Hadean and even on ECO I find it twitchy. On my channel you can see me carving and sliding on the beach at Surfers Paradise, and can see I’m not a newbie but I use the custom setting and take that initial abruptness out of it. I have no idea why they have it so abrupt like that on every setting.
You can check for the actual cells in your board by opening it up and looking if you’re comfortable (ideally out of warranty) but it’s highly unlikely you’ll be seeing that 0.8Ah increase even if you have p42a cells without them testing the capacity of each individual cell and that would cost them a lot to do. It’s very rare for those cells to actually be over 4000mAh capacity, they’re typically 3950-4050mAh.
I was looking at bying Diablo bambo! BUT It’s 700$ more but in EU store So strange to me that it’s not same price for all eskaters? To bad would have been my first Evolve!
I would’ve thought that evolve would be able to compete with acedeck with price to quality but it’s still not close 🤷♂️ big fan of the backpack and bushing kits though.
Evolve is the leader of eskate in every aspect. I don't understand people complaining. I've had my fare share of problems but Evolve has always tried their best to fix things and so far so good! Like.. oh my god.. Evolve boards don't give you 100-200miles of range.. well yes but it also doesn't look like a tractor and doesn't weigh like a tank. The Carbon boards look great, they are slick and thin and have a suuuper good DECK, I think the best eskate deck there is, that still give a 90-100KG rider 50KM range on streets, now more with Diablo. Great to hold in your hand with that fat curve edge. But the biggest thing to this day and why I haven't moved away from Evolve boards is the REMOTE. Trigger remote is where its at and you cannot change my mind. Evolve has now improved the remote immensely with the Phaze remote. I mean Evolve is doing everything right to get more and more people to love eskate. I think the Diablo is near the peak in terms of performance, the Hadean already is super snappy and fast for street wheels, now Diablo is about 20% faster, snappier.. of course you can adjust the speed modes in the apps and remote so.. hey if I can get to 50km in 1sec via Diablo or whatever is next for Evolve.. why not.. but the Hadean, Diablo series of Evolve boards have to be the best eskate boards on the planet right now.
Mate you nailed it, I have a GTR and 2 Hadean’s (a spare for when something went wrong with some beach riding…). And I always hear you can get more for less, and you look up that board and it’s like 50% heavier. Everyone forgets weight is a spec. I think Evolve have nailed it for range vs weight. Sure some will want more and you can’t please everyone but they’ve stuck to their niche which includes a lightweight board. I don’t want something I loathe picking up every time, and I agree I love the remote but I haven’t tried any others either.
Probably the evolve GTR. It's on sale right now and it is the full eboard package. You might enjoy the bamboo with street wheels for a more surfy feel or you might put on AT tires instead to have more stability learning to ride, because street wheels are harder

I’m 50 and even though I still have more fun on my KTM 300, I ride my boards way more often because they are so much more convenient for a quick bit of fun without having to drive to a spot and put on a heap of gear plus the load and unload of a dirtbike.
