- This song was recorded February 11, 1996 by my dad, Ben. I transferred it to digital from analog, and the quality isn't wonderful (but still better than I was expecting.) I'm a big admirer of his music and thought to share this one with everybody.
Darrell you find yourself
Reaching only for a part
Of the stores that were once around
Like an errand, now you start
Holding it high in those clothes
You've worn so long
Showing that even when you're gone
You still belong, and
Darrell you try so hard to believe in everyone
But they don't believe in you
All their hearts you haven't won
When campgrounds are passing away
You build your own
Waving with family hands that say,
You're not alone.
Should we stop, and write our fears out
For you to see that even certain people doubt
They cheer for those who seem to
Carry on without anyone, anyone
Darrell you find yourself reaching only for a part
Of the stores that were once around
Like an errand now you start
Looking over at all of the shades of you
That lean on the sides of places that you knew
If you see me, then why don't you leave behind
Those years that you never could find?
Darrell you stand in line
Just to show that you can feel
Like (?)
In a way that made it real
You've covered what's left of your heart
With leaves and rain
Knowing that everyone who's gone
Will come again.
Darrell I know that you might be gone
But still in some way you belong.
