Ben Emond - Darrell
มุมมอง 1529 ปีที่แล้ว
This song was recorded February 11, 1996 by my dad, Ben. I transferred it to digital from analog, and the quality isn't wonderful (but still better than I was expecting.) I'm a big admirer of his music and thought to share this one with everybody. Darrell you find yourself Reaching only for a part Of the stores that were once around Like an errand, now you start Holding it high in those clothes...

Heaven Go Easy On Me - The Head and the Heart
มุมมอง 3.5K11 ปีที่แล้ว
My favorite Head and the Heart song. I don't own the music, but I do own the picture, took it on a lonely walk around the neighbourhood. Hope you enjoy; it's worth listening right to the end, when the violins come in it's really something. Enjoy. :)

Great song from Shallow Grave. I thought the painting fit it pretty nicely. Enjoy.
Little River - The Tallest Man On Earth

First song on Sometimes The Blues Is Just A Passing Bird, set to a Van Gogh painting.
Tangle In This Trampled Wheat - The Tallest Man On Earth
มุมมอง 2.9K11 ปีที่แล้ว
Nice song by Tallest Man, appropriately set to a painting of wheat by Van Gogh. Off the EP Sometimes The Blues Is Just A Passing Bird. Enjoy.
The Dreamer - The Tallest Man On Earth
มุมมอง 78911 ปีที่แล้ว
Second song on Sometimes The Blues Is Just A Passing Bird. Really good song (and this is my favorite Van Gogh painting.) Uploading this made me very happy. Enjoy! :)
Like the Wheel - The Tallest Man On Earth
มุมมอง 7K11 ปีที่แล้ว
Third song on 'Sometimes the Blues Is Just A Passing Bird.' For some reason Tallest Man On Earth music fits really well with Van Gogh paintings... there must be a reason for that. :)

This was my brother's favorite band. I only listened really after he died and read lyrics of King Beetle in his journal while he was in the hospital. I looked them up and found this band. Glad he left me with this band as a way to always remember him. God these guys capture some powerful emotions for sure.

@@moosesnWoop I think that was a song about how blindly following authority (However uninformed, though we perceive them to be all knowing) will end with a fiery death, but the poetry of it is quite beautiful.

@chubbyjubjub3593 its definitly about obtaining oneness with the infinite. Fire is a metaphor for God. You can trying to understand or conquer God like the first 2 but the only way to actually know God is to become one with Him and be consumed in the process and become something completely new.

    • @NuclearStories

@Castlegrad Firstly, atheism is not a belief but rather the absence of one. Secondly, atheists are a minority. Thirdly, meWithoutyou has a ton of religiously inspired lyrics, so it makes sense to say "I disagree with their lyrical content, but they're amazing." :-)

How can you run backward, into time, when time is right here? Can you run backward into space? Give us our world, for you are no longer old. Old and young transform simultaneously. Not the same old as you were before. Some things happen out of order. Science will not wait forever. We shall have our healthcare. We shall have our maize back. We shall have our two-spirits back. We shall have our experiments. We shall have the world we have so diligently studied while you partied on the backs of those we studied. The grasshopper as we have been the ants, has nothing to eat during this winter. But we do not yet know everything any person knows. This is only the beginning. Communism is the ultimate end of science, since it maximizes total potential knowledge, but science is not necessarily socialist in the beginning. We shall see in the coming days.

I usually hate anything resembling metal or heavy rock. I started listening to mewithoutYou with the "It's all a dream" album which has that folksy feel. Then I moved on to "Brother, Sister" and obsessed over that one even more even though it was hard for me to love at first. Now I'm moving on to this album, something I never would have listened to a year ago... and loving it. mewithoutYou kind of grows with you- as someone somewhere else put it, it's exactly what we need even if it isn't what we originally wanted.

Jump 'long the creekside The rock's crooked line Fun girls, you'll hear it The days open wide And horses trot faster 'til sparrows fall down But you just fall, laughin', to the snow on the ground You grew up by playin' the valley so wild And that's why You're so beautiful now And, dancin' your bike to the lonesome, young mare You call up her owner; say your heart will be there You'll build a collection of scars on your knees To learn how to count the impossible trees You grew up by climbin' the birches so high And that's why You're so beautiful now And we live so close that we probably seen The same bird, the same time They solumnly scream One day, I'll find just that friend who can see All this weird beauty Thrown right at me Growin' by playin' the valley so wild And that's why You're so beautiful now
