    A True God wouldn't say someone else is Greater than he (John 14:28) A True God wouldn't pray to another God (John 17:1-26)

      Praying is communicating. He was communicating with his Father. He showed him deference as the Father is in a greater role than he is. The thing you miss is Jesus is God. He is a part of God’s nature. NO ONE can be with the Father unless you claim Jesus is Lord.
      You see Jesus in the Old Testament time and time again.
      Who is bargaining with Abraham over Sodom and Gomorrah? An angel couldn’t and as it says in Exodus, Moses couldn’t see God’s face. The King James continually calls this figure, the LORD (capitalized). In chapter 19 when the judgement rained down it was from the LORD in heaven. (The Bible had the distinction)
      Who is the Son of Man in Daniel 7?
      Lastly, how do you know what a God can or would do? I know I don’t as my nature is completely mortal as your’s is. A God would never allow his incarnation and death to happen like Jesus did I would’ve thought, but God did. (John 3:16-17). Every knee will bow and every tongue will confess Jesus Christ is Lord. Please do it for adoration before you do it for condemnation.

      dakerson1234 Never forget that central, hidden pillar of your disbelief. It's your thesis that "if beings like god(s) exist, why would they care about me?" It's the very reflection of your entire moral being. You wouldn't care about a human, if you were only something like a god...

      Who is the LORD God Almighty of Revelation 4:8-11 (“who created all things)?
      Revelation 4:8-11
      8 And the four beasts had each of them six wings about him; and they were full of eyes within: and they rest not day and night, saying, Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come.
      9 And when those beasts give glory and honour and thanks to him that sat on the throne, who liveth for ever and ever,
      10 The four and twenty elders fall down before him that sat on the throne, and worship him that liveth for ever and ever, and cast their crowns before the throne, saying,
      11 Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.
      If “Jesus is God”, then Jesus must be the LORD God Almighty, and Jesus misspoke in John 17:1-4, when Jesus said that the Father is the only true God”.
      John 17:1-4
      1 These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee:
      2 As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him.
      3 And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.
      4 I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do.

    The word elohim in Hebrew means gods, this is the very word that has been translated into: angels. Why? Because angels have godlike powers. But they are not the Almighty God Jehovah. And neither was Jesus, who truely was the firstborn of all the creation, in that he was the only thing Jehovah God created directly. He was given powers to create everything else under the direction of his Father Jehovah God. I have not problem understanding that, it is simple and logical.

    Respectfully Guys,
    As a Devout Christian & Researcher, I see several flaws in the man's views (guy w/ yellow sign)]:
    [Jesus Is "Mighty God" But
    Is Jesus "ALMIGHTY GOD"?] No!!!
    ~~~~~~
    [Isaiah 9:6]
    It is true that at Isaiah 9:6, Jesus is prophetically referred to as "Mighty God" (Hebrew, ʼEl Gib·bohrʹ)....
    Yet, no where in scripture is Jesus ever referred to as God Almighty (Hebrew ʼEl Shad·daiʹ) as in Gen. 17:1,) This title ONLY applies to the Father (YHWH /Yehowah/Jehovah)
      Yeh the antichrist is the one who *DENY* the *Father* -and- the *Son.* I guess you forgot to worship the Father as Jesus ask you all the time. (1John 1:22) How come God can change His name to Jesus name ? Jesus name mean Jehovah is SALVATION, means; Jehovah provide Jesus to come for His plan of salvation. He is the *Master*. Malachi 1:6 “‘A *son* *honors* a *father* , and a servant his master. So if I am a father, *where* is the honor due *me* ?And if I am a *master,* -where- is the fear due me?’ Jehovah of armies says to you priests who are *DESPISING* my name.
      “‘But you say: “How have we *despised* your name?”’
      “‘By saying: “The table of *Jehovah* is something to be despised.”
      Proverbs 30:2 What is his name and the name of his son-if *you* KNOW ? Matthew 17:5 ... a voice out of the cloud said: “This is *my* Son, the beloved, whom I *have* *approved.* -Listen- to him.”
    [What Does "GOD" Mean?]
    The Hebrew word 'El or 'Elo•him' [In English- God] is a TITLE
    (not a name) denotes "might & strength" [Mighty One or Strong One]
    [JUST BECAUSE SOMEONE BEARS THE TITLE "GOD," THIS DOES NOT MAKE THEM "ALMIGHTY GOD"]...
    In Bible, the Title [God] applies to:
    • Jehovah (Gen. 17:1)And when Abram was ninety nine, Jehovah appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am God Almighty (
    •Jesus (Isaiah 9:6)
    • Angels (Psalm 8:5) “You also proceeded to make him [man] a little less than [godlike ones].” (Hebrew, ’elohimʹ; “a god,” New English Bible, Jerusalem Bible) The Greek Septuagint Version renders ’‏elo·himʹ here as {“angels}.”
    •Satan (2 Corinth 4:4)
    •False gods (Judges 16:23)
    •Human Leaders (Exodus 7:1 - Moses), ...
    Jews of the first century C.E. found no conflict with their belief in one God at Psalm 82, though Psalm 82 verses 1 and 6 of this psalm utilize the word ’elo·himʹ (the·oiʹ, plural of the·osʹ, Septuagint) with reference to human judges.
    ***[NOTE]***
    •Compare John 10:34-36 (vs 34, "Jesus answered them: “Is it not written in your Law, ‘I said: “You are gods”’)...
    Here, Jesus quotes Psalm 82:6
    ~~~~~~~
    Although some of the above may be Strong, Mighty or Powerful, none are equal to the Father [Yehowah /Yahweh/ Jehovah] in age, knowledge, strength, power, etc.
    This is exactly why Paul uttered the following:
    1 Corinths. 8:5-6 - (5)For even though there are so-called gods, whether in heaven or on earth, just as there are many “gods” and many “lords,” (6) there is actually to us one God, the Father, from whom all things are and we for him; "AND" there is one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things are and we through him.
    [Clear Distinction btwn Jehovah & Jesus,]

    I'm a Christian who does NOT believe in the Trinity!!!
    ~~~~~~~~~~
    12 Questions I have that could not be answered SCRIPTURALLY by Trinitarians:
    1) Why does Jesus call his Father "My God?" in the flesh (John 20:17) & in heaven (Rev. 3:12)
    2) Why does Jesus say "The Father is Greater than I?" (John 14:28)
    3) Why did Jesus say, "The Son can't do anything on his own, only what he sees the Father doing." (John 5:19)
    4) What is the "official" name of the holy spirit (If the Father is Jehovah & the Son is Jesus...& "Helper" / "Comforter" /"Avocate" are "Titles")? (Matt. 28:19)
    5) If Jesus sits at the right-hand of God In heaven, where is the Holy Spirit's Heavenly Throne? (Psalm 110:1 & Hebrews 10:12)
    6) If God is a person (Heb. 1:3) & Jesus is the image of "HIS PERSON", why is the Holy Spirit called "IT" in original KJV (1611)?
    a) John 1:32 - John bore witness that [it] (the Spirit) abode on him [Jesus]
    b) Romans 8:16 - Spirit [itself]
    c) Romans 8:26 - Spirit [itself]
    d) 1 Peter 1:11 - [it] testified
    7) John 1:18 - If "Jesus" & the "Holy Spirit" are of the same Godhead with God Almighty, why do Scriptures say no man has seen God "AT ANY TIME?" Yet, John the Baptizer "beheld" the Holy Spirit descending upon Jesus? (John 1:29 & 32) [2 members of the Trinity]
    8) If Jesus & the Holy Spirit are of the same GodHead, how can U sin against Jesus [Son of Man] and be forgiven, yet sin against the Holy Spirit and NOT be forgiven? (Matt. 12:32)
    9) John 10:33 - After the Jewish Leaders attempted to stone Jesus, accusing him of calling himself "God" (KJV) ... Why did Jesus correct them by saying, "I said I am God's Son?" (vs 36)
    10) John 20:28 - After Thomas said, "My God & My Lord," ...Why does "vs 31" say "But these have been written down so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, THE SON OF GOD?"
    11) Hebrews 5:7 - If Jesus is Almighty God, why does he pray to & fear the One who saved him from death???
    12) a) If Jesus "IS" Jehovah, why is he given Authority by [Jehovah] The Ancient of Days? (Daniel 7:13-14) (See also: Matt. 18:18)
    b) After ruling for 1,000 years (Rev. 20:4-6), why must Jesus return the Kingdom to his God & Father?
    (See: 1 Corinths. 15:24)
    So you believe Jesus is the true God? Why dose Jesus contradict what your saying at John 17: 3 This means everlasting life, their coming to know you,
    the "the only true God, and the one whom you sent, Jesus Christ." Now whos the one lying, "Jesus or You." These are Jesus own words, these are inspired words of Jehovah God to be written for our benefit. You even quote that verse and you still don't understand. You also say, is Jesus the true God, or a false God? well if read Cor 8: 5, 6,' It makes that distinction between Jehovah God and his Son Jesus Christ and all the other gods and all the other lords, there are false gods, and there are those who are called gods. But as Jesus explained, there is "Only One True God." How is it that you don't understand that simple verse. That is what the scriptures say, no need for interpretation. Why would Jesus be a false god. According to John 1: 18 Jesus is called "the only begotten god," that statement would be in harmony with John 1: 1; was a god. Just like Satan' he is a god; 2 Cor 4: 4 among whom the god of this system of things. Is Satan a false god? "No" he is what 1 Cor 8: 5, 6; say, he is one of many gods. But not the true God, that honor rightly belongs to Jehovah God. Jesus is a god second to his God and Father. Like I said before Jehovah God has given all authority to His Son. But that don't mean that Jesus is the true God. I will say it again Jesus is subject to his God and Father.--1 Cor 15: 27, 28;
    Was Moses a true God or false God? Are angels and judges true Gods or false Gods. They are all called God in the Bible. Perhaps you need to look deeper into how the peoples of bible times viewed the concept of God. You will then see that your question shows your utter ignorance. Perhaps you can begin by looking up the meaning of "god."
    Alright, Jesus taught me this one. A question i've never heard ask to the reprobates (not just the JW's) who constantly attack the Deity of Christ. Watch how it goes unanswered due to pride.
    For those who believe that the Almighty, Jesus, and the Holy Ghost are not 3 different manifestations of the Father, you can't hide from the truth. [Notice how I used the word "are", and not "were" which is a lesson in itself]
    Why is Jesus called the Son of God when he was "conceived" of the Holy Ghost if they are in fact separate? It's a simple question that deserves a simple answer.
    Be advised: if you want me to prove biblically where the Bible teaches the question I'm asking, by all means ask me. I would think that you would already know.
    Question: "What do John 1:1,14 mean when they declare that Jesus is the Word of God?"
    Answer: The answer to this question is found by first understanding the reason why John wrote his gospel. We find his purpose clearly stated in John 20:30-31. “Many other signs therefore Jesus also performed in the presence of the disciples, which are not written in this book; but these have been written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing you may have life in His name.” Once we understand that John’s purpose was to introduce the readers of his gospel to Jesus Christ, establishing Who Jesus is (God in the flesh) and what He did, all with the sole aim of leading them to embrace the saving work of Christ in faith, we will be better able to understand why John introduces Jesus as “The Word” in John 1:1.
    By starting out his gospel stating, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God,” John is introducing Jesus with a word or a term that both his Jewish and Gentile readers would have been familiar with. The Greek word translated “Word” in this passage is Logos, and it was common in both Greek philosophy and Jewish thought of that day. For example, in the Old Testament the “word” of God is often personified as an instrument for the execution of God’s will (Psalm 33:6; 107:20; 119:89; 147:15-18). So, for his Jewish readers, by introducing Jesus as the “Word,” John is in a sense pointing them back to the Old Testament where the Logos or “Word” of God is associated with the personification of God’s revelation. And in Greek philosophy, the term Logos was used to describe the intermediate agency by which God created material things and communicated with them. In the Greek worldview, the Logos was thought of as a bridge between the transcendent God and the material universe. Therefore, for his Greek readers the use of the term Logos would have likely brought forth the idea of a mediating principle between God and the world.
    So, essentially, what John is doing by introducing Jesus as the Logos is drawing upon a familiar word and concept that both Jews and Gentiles of his day would have been familiar with and using that as the starting point from which He introduces them to Jesus Christ. But John goes beyond the familiar concept of Logos that his Jewish and Gentile readers would have had and presents Jesus Christ not as a mere mediating principle like the Greeks perceived, but as a personal being, fully divine, yet fully human. Also, Christ was not simply a personification of God’s revelation as the Jews thought, but was indeed God’s perfect revelation of Himself in the flesh, so much so that John would record Jesus’ own words to Philip: "Jesus said unto Him, 'Have I been so long with you, and yet you have not come to know Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father; how do you say, "Show us the Father"?'" (John 14:9). By using the term Logos or “Word” in John 1:1, John is amplifying and applying a concept with which his audience was familiar and using that to introduce his readers to the true Logos of God in Jesus Christ, the Living Word of God, fully God and yet fully man, who came to reveal God to man and redeem all who believe in Him from their sin.
The Christology of Christ has been discussed since early Christian days. Within my Anglican churches, there is free discussion. The topic was also discussed with Jesuits, including Dan Berrigan, at Woodstock Jesuit Seminary. My access to New Testament professors and seminary profs is impressive for a lawyer. There is no doubt in my mind that the Witness view is wrong, completely wrong. If one reads the Bible carefully and understands uses of "Lord" and first century Judaism, the issue of Christology is not discussed in detail. It is only later generations that sought to clarify the understanding that key apostles taught. Paul approaches the Trinity in his genuine letters. Secular profs and many NT scholars of seminaries would agree that neither the Trinity or lack of Trinity is expressly mentioned in the NT. I suspect that early generations had a feel of Jesus from real life and the experiences of the Risen Christ, discussed in Acts and Paul's genuine letters. John 1 and John 3:16, plus Paul's pleas for the centrality of Christ and not YHWH offer some idea of what Christians believed. Jerusalem Christians may have had differing views. Paul's Christianity flourished. From Peter, Paul, and James to the earliest churches, the centrality of Christ is stressed in genuine documents. Most of what the Witnesses teach concerning the early church is wrong or misquoted. I checked key passages myself.
    Readers must also bear in mind that Witness quoted a Nazi theologian, who was found guilty of war crimes at the Nuremberg Tribunal and hung for glorifying the Nazi party in the Lutheran church, approvingly. There was not even a footnote explaining why a Lutheran theologian who believed in the Trinity and Hitler was chosen to make a point that was not even central to the article. When I heard of this quote, I told people it was an invention. Witnesses would never be so bold today. I was wrong. The Nuremberg tribunals can be checked online and so can biographies of this despicable man. It is unconscionable for any group today, knowing the Holocaust and what happened to Europe, to glorify Nazis.
    • @janicehussock7735
      @janicehussock7735 9 ปีที่แล้ว
      I did not take notes. If you look at Wikipedia or access the Nuremberg Trial records, he was the most prominent Lutheran theologian tried and executed. As a student with Elaine Pagels, we had a guest come to describe his friendship with Dietrich Bonhoeffer, a Lutheran who came to the US briefly during the rise of the Nazis. Bonhoeffer, an aristocrat, wrote of grace and resisted the Nazis. He was part of a conspiracy to assassinate Hitler. Churchill and Roosevelt sent special troops to stop his execution by the Nazis. Bohoeffer stood for the Christian faith. The creep the WT quoted was also a Lutheran theologian, but, he chose to cast his lot with the National Socialist Party. Hitler was viewed with suspicious by Lutherans in the beginning. This low life popularized and legitimized Hitler, the Gestapo, death camps, etc. I am certain he was one of the reasons faithful Witnesses were imprisoned in Germany. He used his theological studies and skills to justify evil. After surrender of Germany and Italy, the Allieds could not execute or try every minister who aided the Nazis. Some ministers cast lot with Hitler, sincerely believing he had good ideas for Germany. Many of them felt so bad that they killed themselves. Nuremberg was designed to try the most flagrant cases. This Nazi was given a front seat to be prosecuted. He was executed.
      Further, there was no need for the WT to quote him. It was a side issue in the article. When I write articles, memos, etc., I like adding historical perspective. A footnote describing the man, the reasons why the WT saw fit to celebrate him, and a brief description of his notorious biography should have been included. In the past, maybe a doctoral student in Protestant studies or history of Germany who once was a Witness may have caught the quote. I was absolutely shocked when people told me. In fact, I told them not to exaggerate how bad the WT is. Some WT opponents go too far and invent stuff. Because of the Internet, I was able to research quickly. The WT writers insult everyone when they believe we cannot research.
      I refuse to spend my life researching mistakes the WT routinely makes. There is so much for me to do and so much to enjoy, especially the Beatles and Bob Dylan. Sir Paul is in my hometown, riding his bike in Central Park. The Dakota staff are friendly to me. I intend to wave and scream "Hello, Thank you, Paul" to Paul. Life is short. There is so much good theology and New Testament scholarship for me to read and ask hard questions to true scholars. The name is on my hard drive. Selma and Steve and the encouragement of domestic violence is another issue.
      Australia has the Witnesses on the run. US law is different.
      You presume much. Most Christians believe in evolution. I do. The Bible is not irrelevant. There is truth beyond literal facts in it. I do believe that many of the stories recounted actually happened. Other Bible stories are ridiculous. Revelation, most of Genesis...Your view is limited and arrogant. No one is forcing you to do anything concerning the BIble. No one. The case is not closed. Not by a long shot.. Even for atheists, the Bible remains the sacred text of Western civilization. It isi mpossible to understand much of culture without knowledge of the Bible.
      +Tim Spangler Paul lives on Fifth Avenue now. John lived there and I became friendly with the doormen while he was there. I was studying for the bar exam in Central Park and would walk past to visit a friend's apartment to use the restroom. They encouraged me about the bar exam. I told them I wanted to meet John since I was eleven and some of what I went through because I liked the Beatles. John could be not nice when he was drunk and an angel when he was sober. They gave me a telephone number to call so I could meet him on a good day after I started and settled into my job as an associate lawyer at a large corporate law firm. My plan was to call in three months or when the weather became warmer. He was assassinated in December. I still talk to the doorman who was on duty. He showed me the inside of the gate house and showed me exactly what happened. Many people were deeply affected. We gathered in Central Park to celebrate his life in a daze. People were very nice that week. They almost always are. I love Manhattan and Brooklyn. Always did. September 11th brought out the best in people, too. The courtesy then and the lack of normal banter and noise was a bit strange. I was taught that worldly people are so bad. Not true.
    In the original language of East Peshitta Aramaic it reads (among many, many other places) as we look at Luke 2:11 "For today, The Savior has been born to you, who is THE LORD JEHOVAH Christ, in the city of David." In Acts 2:36 "Let therefore the whole house of Israel know truly, God has made this Yeshua, LORD JEHOVAH * and Christ, whom you had crucified." The Aramaic is the correct language, as all errors in the Greek text are solved in the East Aramaic text.
    John 20:17 Jesus said to her, “Do not cling to me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father; but go to my brothers and say to them, ‘I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.’” The main point here is that Jesus said "to my God and your God". Was Jesus was confused? No, he knows he was not the Almighty God! That's it!
    “Before Abraham was, I AM” (John 8:58). Thats the name of God, "I AM" from Exodus 3:14. And in John 10:33 they told Him their reason for wanting to kill Him, "We are not stoning you for any good work,” they replied, “but for blasphemy, because you, a mere man, claim to be God.”
    He said He was God
    They understood His claim
    He saw they understood it (didn't correct it if it was wrong)
    And they wanted to kill him for it.
      JESUS is the Son of GOD. he is the way the truth and the life..
      But Before JOHN 10:33 let's read JOHN 10:31 and 32...
      31 Once again the Jews picked up stones to stone him.
      32 Jesus replied to them: “I displayed to you many fine works from the Father. For which of those works are you stoning me?.
      ...
      (JESUS SAID " I displayed to you many fine works from the Father... (he literally said from the father, he glorifies THE FATHER GOD JEHOVAH). JESUS NEVER CLAIM TO BE GOD.. but the Jews is accusing him.... there's nothing in the verse that says Jesus claim to be GOD..)
      ...
      JOHN 10:33 The Jews answered him: “We are stoning you, not for a fine work, but for blasphemy; for you, although being a man, make yourself a god.”
      Pls read JOHN 10:31 & 32... Does Jesus claim to be God? The Jews wrongfully accused JESUS. Because when Jesus said I displayed to you many fine works from THE FATHER.. He is telling us that he is THE SON. He is not telling us that He is GOD.
      there HE said "I AM GOD'S SON. He never said he is the God, even if you read the entire chapter.
      @SnowBroProductions 10 ปีที่แล้ว
      He's obviously His Son, no one is arguing that, but you only see what you want, He is Gods Son and He is God, He Himself says they are one in this chapter...
      take this together with everything else i pointed out (John 8:58) and you don't have an argument.
      My view is sound and makes sense with all of scripture...with your view the Bible has contradictions. Why would he call Himself the I Am if He wasn't, why didn't He correct them on many occasions when they "falsely" accused Him. How could he create (only God can create) how can he forgive (only God can forgive), you either believe scripture or don't...kinda believing is the weakest position and most easily defeatable.
    • @edwinsolis6021
      @edwinsolis6021 10 ปีที่แล้ว
      SnowBroProductions because in JOHN 8:58 they are not speaking about Godhood. read JOHN 8:56 Abraham your father rejoiced greatly at the prospect of seeing my day, and he saw it and rejoiced.”+ 57 Then the Jews said to him: “You are not yet 50 years old, and still you have seen Abraham?” 58 Jesus said to them: “Most truly I say to you, before Abraham came into existence, I am.”
      See they are talking or argument because Jesus is not yet 50 years old He never seen Abraham. so Jesus answered "Most truly I say to you before Abraham came into existence, I am".. Their argument her is about existing. He is only telling them that He already exist before Abraham.. I am in that verse doesn't means I am GOD. I am means I am exist before Abraham.
      And you said: He's obviously His Son, no one is arguing that. You acknowledge that He is the Son. So Jesus is the son, He is not God. He is not the creator, But you are elevating Jesus to Godhood. If you preach that Jesus is God, you are preaching that He is the Creator.
      yes in this chapter They are One, but it Doesn't mean Jesus is God. They are one in purpose. Of course i presume you have read all the Gospel that JESUS always said I am doing the will of my Father. And he teach us how to pray OUR FATHER IN HEAVEN HOLY BE YOUR NAME.. Jesus when alive here on earth He never teach us to pray to him but always to the Father... Just follow Jesus Christ and you'll understand.
      I think you also believe that there is ONE GOD. So may i ask you are telling Jesus is GOD, Who is THE FATHER??
    We have already established that there is ONE TRUE GOD by nature. Now we ask the Jehovah's Witnesses the key question -- Is Jesus a true god or a false god? They will have to admit that Jesus is a true god. This forces them to believe in more than one true god! You can't believe in two true gods as the J.W.'s do and still be a Christian and a Bible believer! This is a real dilemma for Jehovah's Witnesses.
    I remember presenting this concept to one Jehovah's Witness. I then asked, "how many gods do Jehovah's Witnesses believe in?" After thinking over the matter carefully, and pondering at some length, the Jehovah's Witness finally replied, "one and a half!" The explanation was of course, that they believe Jehovah [God one] created Jesus [god two], but Jesus was at the same time the archangel Michael, so Jesus became "sort of a hybrid being, a god/archangel Michael" at the same time! This reasoning also makes them polytheists, as does their rendering of John 1:1 in their "New World Translation" of the bible.
    " In [the] beginning the Word was, and the Word was with God, and the Word was a god".
    No reputable Bible scholars will endorse this [mis]translation. The text should read "and the Word [Jesus] was God".
    The bible is the last book you want to be selective about. You simply cannot just pick a verse and say this is what it all narrows down to because one way or another you'll end up contradicting yourself. Saying Jesus is not God is basically disregarding the whole new testament because Jesus repeatedly states "I and my father are one." As complicated as it sounds, there are simple ways to explain it. Everyone has a body, a soul and a spirit. They play different roles, but they're still you. Referring to your soul is the same as referring to you; the only difference is you're using different name or title and the same applies for the remaining two. For those who do not believe in soul and spirit, see it this way. For your kids, you're a father. For your father, you're a son. For your siblings, well you're just another sibling. The list goes on, yet you're still you... It's the same for the father, the son and the holy spirit. They have different roles, but still remain one.
    • @tdickensheets
      @tdickensheets 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1
      NWT of John 1:1JW's big God and little god. The Watchtower, in an effort to remove any threat of the Bible teaching the deity of Christ, has ended up in an even worse situation after tampering with this verse. Polytheism is now introduced into its theology, something which time and time again the Bible forbids (Is 43:10; 44:6, 8; 45:21-23). We may ask: "If Jesus is 'a god' why don't you worship him? What are gods for? A: to be worshipped. If Jehovah made this god (Jesus) then he must be a true god (and approved), Therefore, he cannot be false, it must be right to worship hm. So why must he not be worshipped? How do you feel about a god you are not allowed to worship?"
      You called the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society, a money collecting
      organization? And what do they make money off of? The magazines? No. The books? No. They don't even pass a collection plate around for donations in their Kingdom Halls or at any meetings they have. They don't get paid to preach and teach at their Kingdom Halls or your homes,
      do they? But don't those who preach in your churches of Christendom, have to get paid and pass the collection plate around? JW's are for most part peaceful people, they don't attack or even try to assault their fellow man because they truly believe that you have to love not just each other, but your enemy too, as Jesus taught. The churches of Christendom have had murders committed inside them and sometimes by it's own members or because it meddled in politics of certain countries. There many poor in these same churches and many though no fault of their own. But some are made poor because of bad habits, such as excessive drinking, illegal drug use, gambling, etc. Many who are members in these churches cannot even read. The Catholic Church of all these churches has the biggest membership and yet in Mexico and South America has largest amount of poverty and illiteracy. In Brazil for instance the police will sometimes kill homeless children who beg on the street, when store owners complain about them. And who are these policemen, mostly good upstanding members in the Catholic Church.
      Look, at the drug wars in Mexico, over 100,000 people have been killed by the drug cartels, including women, children and even babies. Who are their murderers? Fellow Catholics. Jehovah's Witnesses aren't perfect people, but what I will say is that the vast majority work hard to act and live as Jehovah's Son, Jesus Christ said they should. And that is "All will know m you are my disciples if you have love among yourselves".
    Much of the problem and confusion here is a literal understanding of the Bible and the mistaken belief that the Bible is one unified work. The Bible is a collection of books. The Witnesses and other groups love to isolate scripture and jump from quote to quote. Doing this distorts the message of the Bible authors. When we do so, we end up with warring quotes and little understanding. My assertion is that Bible books should be read as a whole. There are inconsistencies in approach, culture, values, and large historical gaps between Bible books. So many good resources to study the Bible from a neutral viewpoint are available. There is a general consensus among scholars what each author wanted to convey, the historical setting, and other matters. Usage of the Bible has justified horrific wars, racism, slavery, polygamy, and many other serious matters.
    That's fine if you want to point this passage out. Problem is. Hebrews 1:8 states theos for God supreme. Clearly shows Jehovah declaring Jesus as God supreme and ALL of the translations agree that theos in that passage is God supreme. The words theos and elohim can be used for multiple god and can be used for God supreme but clearly in the Passage of Psalm 82:6 it's not referring to God supreme.
God is light his word is light.       Jehovah's Witnesses are famous for making fun of Trinitarians, while they promote a dualistic deity, having two separate Gods. In Jn.1:1. Jehovah is the Almighty and a secondary mighty one that he has made, who is Michael the Arch- angel is the God he made all things through. The Bible never refers to God in this manner and declares throughout there is only one God. Isa.10:20-21 tells us Israel will rely on the LORD the Holy one of Israel… they will return to the Mighty God". Even Mary calls God mighty in Lk.1:49. Jer.32:17-18 tells us," the mighty God whose name is the LORD of hosts". This is the same mighty God in Isa.9:6 that the Son is called. So if mighty means lesser, then Jehovah himself is a lesser God. Yet the JW's would never take this position of Jehovah being a lesser God. The Bible points out that mighty and almighty are descriptions of the same being who is God.www.letusreason.org/JW7.htm
      While they deny believing in multiple Gods there is no other alternative to take if Jesus is a mighty God. What kind of a god is this that went out of existence when he died?J.W did not always subscribe to the view of Jesus being only a mighty God."     Christians do not have a literal one mouth but they glorify the Lord...
    God's mouth is not a literal human mouth...
    the ''mouth of the Lord' is an expression indicating the AUTHORITY that His saying have and certainty of fulfillment...Isaiah 55:11
    Actually Rev. 1:8 says the Lord God. Even in the greek it's declared that. It's Jesus speaking the whole time in that chapter. We also understand that Jesus is God manifest in the flesh (1Tim. 3:16). So yes Jesus is the Lord Jehovah, I agree with that part.
    A BIBLICAL RESPONSE
    First, as reiterated over and over: The entire content of biblical revelation affirms the deity and humanity of Jesus Christ, not a grammatical rule or an isolate passage here and there. Here in the prologue (vv. 1-18) it is the context (and not necessarily a Greek rule in 1:1) that clearly affirms Jesus as God in the flesh: The Word was always in the beginning, with (distinct from) God the Father and He was Himself God, but not the person of the Father (1:1); in Him was Life (v. 4); John the Baptist was a witness to the Word (v. 6); The Word was the Creator of the world (v. 10); He became flesh (v. 14); and He is the unique ("one and only") God who is always at the Father's bosom (v. 18).
    Question: "Is Jesus God in the flesh? Why is it important that Jesus is God in the flesh?"
    Answer: Since His conception by the Holy Spirit in the womb of the virgin Mary (Luke 1:26-38), the real identity of Jesus Christ has always been questioned by skeptics. It began with Mary's fiancé, Joseph, who was afraid to marry her when she revealed that she was pregnant (Matthew 1:18-24). He took her as his wife only after the angel confirmed to him that the child she carried was the Son of God.
    Hundreds of years before the birth of Christ, the prophet Isaiah foretold the coming of God's Son: "For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace" (Isaiah 9:6). When the angel spoke to Joseph and announced the impending birth of Jesus, he alluded to Isaiah’s prophecy: "The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel (which means ‘God with us’)" (Matthew 1:23). This did not mean they were to name the baby Immanuel; it meant that "God with us" was the baby’s identity. Jesus was God coming in the flesh to dwell with man.
    Jesus Himself understood the speculation about His identity. He asked His disciples, "Who do people say that I am?" (Matthew 16:13; Mark 8:27). The answers varied, as they do today. Then Jesus asked a more pressing question: "Who do you say that I am?" (Matthew 16:15). Peter gave the right answer: "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God" (Matthew 16:16). Jesus affirmed the truth of Peter’s answer and promised that, upon that truth, He would build His church (Matthew 16:18).
    The true nature and identity of Jesus Christ has eternal significance. Every person must answer the question Jesus asked His disciples: "Who do you say that I am?"
    He gave us the correct answer in many ways. In John 14:9-10, Jesus said, "Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? Don’t you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me? The words I say to you I do not speak on my own authority. Rather, it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his work."
    The Bible is clear about the divine nature of the Lord Jesus Christ (see John 1:1-14). Philippians 2:6-7 says that, although Jesus was "in very nature God, He did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness." Colossians 2:9 says, “In Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form.”
    Jesus is fully God and fully man, and the fact of His incarnation is of utmost importance. He lived a human life but did not possess a sin nature as we do. He was tempted but never sinned (Hebrews 2:14-18; 4:15). Sin entered the world through Adam, and Adam’s sinful nature has been transferred to every baby born into the world (Romans 5:12)-except for Jesus. Because Jesus did not have a human father, He did not inherit a sin nature. He possessed the divine nature from His Heavenly Father.
    Jesus had to meet all the requirements of a holy God before He could be an acceptable sacrifice for our sin (John 8:29; Hebrews 9:14). He had to fulfill over three hundred prophecies about the Messiah that God, through the prophets, had foretold (Matthew 4:13-14; Luke 22:37; Isaiah 53; Micah 5:2).
    Since the fall of man (Genesis 3:21-23), the only way to be made right with God has been the blood of an innocent sacrifice (Leviticus 9:2; Numbers 28:19; Deuteronomy 15:21; Hebrews 9:22). Jesus was the final, perfect sacrifice that satisfied forever God's wrath against sin (Hebrews 10:14). His divine nature made Him fit for the work of Redeemer; His human body allowed Him to shed the blood necessary to redeem. No human being with a sin nature could pay such a debt. No one else could meet the requirements to become the sacrifice for the sins of the whole world (Matthew 26:28; 1 John 2:2). If Jesus were merely a good man as some claim, then He had a sin nature and was not perfect. In that case, His death and resurrection would have no power to save anyone.
    Because Jesus was God in the flesh, He alone could pay the debt we owed to God. His victory over death and the grave won the victory for everyone who puts their trust in Him (John 1:12; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4, 17).
