    Tailgate is pretty gone but here in the midwest thatd be considered damn near rust free

      Haha yeah I know what you mean. Everybody hates in Cali but we usually have mostly rust free trucks.

    Id keep it original rust and all , thats what makes it cool.

    • @jmacsgarage
      @jmacsgarage  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Unfortunately it was a little to far gone to keep the entire body. The rust was just ridiculous. We are almost done with swapping a body from a 70 c10 that was mostly rust free.

    Do you have a update on this truck yet? Man, that tailgate was rusty! I've never seen one that bad, and l live in lowa. Lol

    • @jmacsgarage
      @jmacsgarage  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes the orange 1970 body is going on this frame. I screwed the tailgate up on the shop wall just to remember how bad the truck was haha

    I would respond the cab . fenders look good. Looking forward to next video.🤗🤓

    • @jmacsgarage
      @jmacsgarage  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh man the cab is terrible. It is rusted in weird places. I found a 1970 c10 and we are swapping the whole body. It’s two tone orange and white. I posted a short update video about it. I’m working on a longer one of us finishing the truck. It’s up and running again we are just doing finishing touches.

    Very nice rides man! What’s the steering wheel you have inside the mint green truck?

    • @jmacsgarage

      The wheel is a forever sharp steering wheel. I like it a lot.

    What is the average price for a truck like this in its original condition, before restoration?
    Thank you

    • @jmacsgarage
      @jmacsgarage  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Man it really depends on condition. I’ve bought a few in the $1500-$2500 range not running. I don’t ever pay a lot because I’m usually buying not running trucks that need a lot of love.

    If you built the engine I have a question!! If it was a 4 bolt main 350 what were the numbers on the 3 center main caps??

    • @jmacsgarage
      @jmacsgarage  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey man I didn’t
      It was a GM crate engine. It is a 4bolt main but I do not know the numbers on the caps.

  • @brandonbell8159
    @brandonbell8159 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Did you ever build the engine in this?

    • @jmacsgarage
      @jmacsgarage  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It was rebuilt but I did not personally do it myself. It is just a basic 350 nothing crazy. At least for now. It run a pretty well.

    What LS swap are you doing on the short bed?

    • @jmacsgarage
      @jmacsgarage  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not 100 percent sure yet. That one got put on the back burner for a little while. The transfer case is set up for a 4l80 so it will be a 4l80 and 6.0 or ls3 just depending how much money is available at the time haha

  • @Ordrock7

    I just bought the same truck and mine looks like yours. It was an old farm truck. The hood has the typical bends and strains from sticky hinges and springs. The would be expected dents in the bed sides and rear bed dings and dents. Lights don't work, smells like rat piss and motor never had the oil changed. I need to get a bill of sale signed, registered and swap the never used 327 with the FITech that I have in my 1954 GMC 5 window. A project that i've decided to sell to the highest bidder. A truck with all the parts besided the front and rear glass and no tail gate. The 1972 is a 4X4, automatic TH400 i believe. Same color as your's and it's twin. The motor swap will have to wait until after Elk season. Anyone looking for a 1954 GMC 100 5 Window (actually 8 windows, two on each door= 4, two side windows = 6, and the front and rear =8, yes people question me on the window numbers), PM and I'll entertain reasonable offers. Located in southern Oregon

    • @jmacsgarage
      @jmacsgarage  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Awesome!! Yeah this one was pretty dang rusty. We are going to be doing a complete body swap here in the next week or two.

      @@jmacsgarage I don't have a rusty truck, just a stinky and a bit out of square one. I am in need of a whole lot better tailgate. the one I have is a dented bowed piece of CHEVROLET scrap. Oh yeah, there is also a hole in the roof from a CB radio antenna.

    Trying to put disc brakes on the font of my 70' k1500. The locking hubs are making it impossible to find a kit that will work. Any suggestions?

    • @jmacsgarage
      @jmacsgarage  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Easiest thing is find an axle from a newer truck. The square body front axles bolt right in and they are usually easy to find and fairly cheap.

    I’ve never seen a tailgate that bad and I’m from the salty spots😂

    • @jmacsgarage
      @jmacsgarage  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah haha it’s a California truck but it lived it’s life by the ocean. Instead of salt just in the winter it got salt year round. I always laugh when people say California truck. We are almost done with the body swap on it. It’s coming out pretty nice. Hopefully get a decent video of the build and it finished out soon.

      @@jmacsgarage I love watching these builds. They’re 10x better than seeing the big shops do builds like on TV. We get to see where the truck really came from and the progress

    Always beware you guys of trucks near salt water ocean--- rivers and lakes ---fine --ocean's --I decline!!!! I've bought, sold, and body --off frame restored just over 400 of these '67-'72 Chevy/ GMC 4x4 trucks but everything out west in WA. , Oregon,California etc. Dry desert east of Cascades is best. Lot of trucks there. Jim
