Well. I just found your channel. Dude, I'm impressed. I'm subscribed. I'll go back and watch your past episodes while I wait for your next video on this truck. Thanks for all you do and Happy New Year😎
Thanks Ray! I’m glad you took the time to check out the channel and subscribe, I appreciate it! Look forward to seeing you around in the comments!
Thanks for putting this video up. I am restoring a 70 C10 and it has many parts that are just missing. Having a video like this for reference helps more than you think.
I’m glad to hear you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching!
All I can say is I want it! I've ha a few of that body style but never a 4x4. Awesome truck 👍
I like them, this one looks especially tough with the big tires and fender flares!
You had me at "gun rack". 😂
😂
Gun Racks were the norm back in then. Them were the good ole days.
@@SladeM. they sure were!
Great video. Love the Mortske content. 🤣 Just found your channel, subscribed and will be catching up on your past videos!
Awesome, glad you liked it! Thanks for stopping by to check out the channel!
Ah, I seems you caught the starter repair thing from good old Mortske. haha I was happy to see you channel recommended to me right after I watched one of his videos. I support anyone I can trying to save old iron of any kind because it's way better than the junk they make today in many ways and once it's gone...it's gone! Keep up the great work!
Thanks for stopping by to check out the channel!
Love the mortski clips. Great video of an awesome truck. Looking forward to next video on this one. Happy to be a new su subscriber
Thanks Harold!
Great job getting this truck going. Sorry to hear about Transmission problems. But, sure you will get it done. I’m also a Mortske fan. So enjoy the content. Thank you for sharing!
Thanks Terry! We will definitely get it driving!
Great playlist in the background!
Mortske loves his flexie hoses lol
He sure does!
Came over from Mortski nice video
Thanks Billy!
love the diamond rio on in the back, one of my favourites.
I’m glad you enjoyed it! 😁
Thought I would die laughing the instant you said "easy as pie"
I just knew that getting the starter off could be a bear. Good video, I'll be interested in why it's a no-go.
👍
There will be a follow up episode in the future!
Mortske style starter repair......duff approves
Duff approved!
Mortske style title screen. Learning from the best!
He’s a good mentor!
Once the Milwaukee and the Sawzall came out, you earned a like
😂 thanks!
Excellent video :) also fix up too and worth doing all can too!
Thanks Andrew!
Second comment, now that I've reached the end of the video...
Yes sir, you overcame and adapted. That's awesome. Love me an old Chevy pickup. 👍
Thanks for watching Russell!
FISHIN IN THE DARK AND A K20 REVIVAL IN THE SAME VIDEO CANT GO WRONG WITH THAT
Hahaha heck yeah!
Ive got a 71 K20 4x4, they are very rare. The half ton 4x4s are easily found and i also found out the 71s and 72s bring the highest dollar
People sure seem to like the 71/72’s. I’d imagine due to factory disk brakes. I’m partial to the 67/68 due to the hood slant.
Damn I need that old truck in my life!
It’s a nice rig!
Who's the creeper in the background during the walkaround?!?
Brought back fond memories of my sawmill truck. ;]
That’s awesome!
Do a video on how you got the 4L 80 tranny in the old pick up and got it to work with the electronics what kits did you use etc.
I can do that!
Subbed your channel! I like this content, plus anybody that uses Mortske clips is cool with me. I graduated in 1972, so I was really interested in this truck.
Thanks for stopping by to check out the channel! I am glad you enjoyed it! 😁
Love that body style. Badass lookin truck.
It’s a tough looking rig! Also my favorite body style!
Kachow, kachow! Nice carburetor just a bit big for a small block but cool! I'm in love with that truck.
I agree. I’d prefer to keep the quad, but the customer wants the shiny new parts!
You like the Thermoquad??
@@79tazman indifferent. I have nothing against any carburetor if they are set up well.
Mortske would be happy about that new starter every vehicle he gets needs a starter lol
Right! He’s the starter king!
That demon carb have to fit to certain bolt holes pattern. The intake manifold is for racing Weiand about two foot tall but not less than a foot tall. The bolt hex head goes up the stem threaded will tighten the carb down. and the head is bottom and attach the ratchet and screw tight the bolt so the carb have threaded in these screw holes onto the bottom of carb. The Weiand cast aluminum on the top - only have 4 holes and no thread so the hex head is below and it tighten thru the upper flange of its intake manifold. Do you want double plane manifold or single plane intake manifold? Thanks.
He wants more low end torque, so dual plane I believe?
I flexed a 71 2500 lifted 6 in until the rear cab mounts went through the bottom of the fuel tank
Holy cow! That’s impressive!
Mortske sent me. Nice truck. Gonna hit that subscribe button.
Thanks for stopping by to check out the channel!
The 72 is my favorite truck. Back when your truck was only supposed to be your truck instead of replace your Cadillac
Pickups were real pickups back then! I’m partial to the 67/68 front clip, but I love the 67-72 body style!
I think those vents are the thing I miss the most about my Dad's old square body.
I love those vents! My favorite part about my ‘68!
Ah the ball coolers!! Best ac on the market
@@jasonpetrich4141 haha :)
Add in tin lizzy seat and its body box where you go inside the box and sit on the carton or bin and weld the plastic mold as a new seat for dragster like you. Do you drive Monster truck K20 or stock funny car? with the 560 cid chevy crate motor that Vise Grip Garage had install to his Malibu SS. Thanks.
A 560 big block would be sweet!
Interesting about the spark plugs. People always talk about reading plugs but never explain it. Thanks.
Glad I could help someone learn something!
1972 K20 truck have alot of rust on rocker floor arm as part of the metal jam but on the passenger side below the door. It is recommendation to cut all the bottom door jam and metal to be remove. Then add in plasma installation of new sheet metal and zip and zap in the new rocker. Would you weld it with electricity welder? Thanks for letting me watch the restoration.
Thanks for watching Rex! Yes I would most likely weld it in with a wire feed MIG welder, 220V.
That truck would be worth a hell of a lot of money here in Maine. That's a gem right there.
It’s a good rig!
@@MickelsonRacingChannel Have a 57 chevy stepside i want to put 4wd on with that height. Perfect stance. Helped my father as a kid restore his 68 chevy stepside so when I saw your channel I got some memories slapped in the face and I appreciate that. Also I'm a caprice guy myself. The B body type though haha love the content brotha.
@@MATTLEism B-bodies are smooth! Glad I was able to resonate with you!
Tons of new parts. Dang
Customer went all out!
Id like to read the spid on glove box door for options! Tells alot about a truck. Its a later engine with dipstick on the right side.. min gear 4.10.. MO rears were geared 4.10 - 5.30. Mine was 4.57 posi..dana 44 in the ft.
That’s great info, I should have filmed the spid more. I think this one is 4:10.
@@MickelsonRacingChannel thats my first go to thing on them trucks. I have a 68 k 10 now.daily driver! 72 k original on it. Parked in 86 but the 307 was seized and brakes were shot. So i put a stock 350 in it the 3 speed went away now its th350 with 205 tfc.. 3.70 geared rear is posi. Factory tinted green windows. Fun truck. Needs power steering tho. This old man tired of cranking on that wheel!! Hope to see more of that truck you got.. im on my 5 th 67-72
@@jackzeilsdorff3164 sweet rig! Glad to hear you’re daily driving it! There will be more of this on the channel in the future!
Merry Christmas 🎄
Merry Christmas!
Is that the original assembly markings on the firewall ? I love old school Chevy trucks
67-72 73-87
Yep, I love those original markings. They are so cool! I have a soft spot for the 67-72’s!
@@MickelsonRacingChannel I grew up in these trucks I will take a old school truck over on any new truck
@@bigmanonthehustle658 I agree!
When I was almost 16 my dad had a 72 with a 350 olds rocket in it. He told me he was going to give it to me when I turned 16 but I guess decided I would probably kill myself with it. Ended up giving me an 82 Chevy luv with an industrial diesel motor in it. He probably made the right decision but I have been looking for one to buy every since. I probably can’t afford this one but I would definitely be interested if you ever decided to sell.
Probably the right decision haha! Thanks Brian, will keep you in mind!
Good thing the title wasn’t “will it drive”, it runs
2 wrenches to take the fuel line off. We got a professional here. Dang. Lol
I do what I can with the brain I was given ha!
It is said that those grease pencil marks on the firewall are basically the truck's model number.
Here are numbers from two trucks that they "decoded". They were two C-10's.
First truck.
CE 10734
C) Conventional Cab.
E) Eight cylinder.
07) means it's a short wheelbase.
34) stands for fleetside box.
Second truck.
CE 10904
C) Conventional Cab.
E) Eight cylinder.
09) means it's a long wheelbase.
04) means it's a step-side fender box.
I believe they wrote those codes in big letters and numbers on the firewall so that the workers could just look at the firewall instead of having to go look at the build sheet.
Wow, that’s awesome! I never knew there was a code for the factory letters! Thanks for sharing!
@@MickelsonRacingChannel You're welcome, I never knew it either, but a guy that retired from GM said that is what they stand for. And they do fit.
@@MickelsonRacingChannel Oh, I forgot the 1. It means 10 for C-10. So your's should have a 2 for K-20.
@@calvinh.8882 that’s so cool!
Awesome truck
Thanks Shawn!
Nice one!
Thanks!
Absolutely love that truck and the K5. SM465 NP205 with the 14 bolt full floater corporates are my go to bogging and crawling. SM420 is my favorite crawler trans ever, I prefer to row gears come from a family of truckers. Great video bud!
Still have my shaved socket for replacing the ecm on the hei ignition, the best of its time. Remember when you use to go to the auto parts store and by a rebuild kit for your starter alternator and calipers. That Rochester sounds great! Was looking forward to it moving but will stay tuned.
We will definitely have a follow up episode with it driving! Thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed it!
Hell yeah got to gave a manual trans in a truck there is no other way of having it
@@79tazman heck yeah!
Nice job, to bad that cab is so far gone, and Merry Christmas!
I think it could be saved, I’ve seen worse cabs. A set of rockets and cab corners would go a long way on it.
That's a Thermoquad carb that Carter use to make but now Holley redoes them. I wonder why he went with a thermoquad and not with a basic Holly carb
I am not sure why he chose that one. Knowing this customer, looks over performance.
why didn't you just put the old mount onto the new starter? you already had it apart...
I should have!
I've got a 1970 k2500 camper special cst. 402 big block sm465 np 205 Eaton full floater ect. Ac bucket seats console . I've had 11 67-72 c and k 10 and 20 trucks ,my k2500 will be my last .I'll be done by may with some luck . Best trucks ever made in my opinion.
That rig has some nice options! A/C, buckets, console big block, 3/4 ton, that’s awesome! I can’t wait to see it when you’re done!
It's good to explain can you make it start
I can make it start!
Must be nice to have a cameraman/someone to open your sandwiches while you work.
It is! I wish he was along every day!
no wheel bearings and seals ?
Will likely get to that in the follow up video!
Dang it I thought It was Pudding's
The reason the shocks are upside down is the truck is right side up
Hahahaha! I didn’t think of that!
If your gonna use that intake use the Quadrajunk, the Demon Carb will be the happiest on a nice aluminum duel plane intake.
I agree! I think the quad is fine, but the customer wants the shiny new parts!
Gotta call mortske starter repair lol
He would have had that done in a jiffy!
Looks like the bed is 20 feet long.
Makes it look stupid. But some people like that
Close, the box is 8’
I want that truck
It’s a nice rig!
Mortski sent me
Thanks for coming Dave!
I also made a video of a 37 chrysler barn find..will it run after 45 years?? Check it out: th-cam.com/video/9_OXNclmskk/w-d-xo.html
Looks good! I like the homemade slide hammer! That idled so nice!
It's funny I keep seeing all these channels bashing the so called flexi hose rad hoses on the older trucks, I bet even half of them don't know why they ran those hoses in the first place !! Lmao. I drive a 1980 long b Sierra slammed 8 inches with a built 400 sb it's a drift truck though daily!!!!!!!
1980 long box drift pickup?! Dang! That is cool and unique!
@@MickelsonRacingChannel yes sir!!! Love drifting can't afford a skyline, or 240sx. So next best thing it's a hand full
@@jasonpetrich4141 that’s awesome!
@@MickelsonRacingChannel
thank you!!
So..... do you know why they ran those flexi hoses with springs in them ?
Timmy WILLARD
My home town! Left there in 1952
Dang, that’s wild!
Before you start the engine - Recommendation is to install fuel filter and take out fast and put back on fuel filter as convenience as much can be.
That’s another good tip Rex!
Bad bad editing it’s all back to front lol 😂
I appreciate the feedback!
@@MickelsonRacingChannel no offence intended but new plug wires at the beginning and halfway through the old plug wires and distributor cap are still in place !!
@@kergan1812 good eye, I appreciate that. I will work on that!
lol hell let me slam these new parts around i didnt buy thim
Basically
On your next starter take it outside and blast it with air! Not rake stuff off! It's best not to use anything metal on wires and it's way faster!
I’ll have to try that Lee, thanks for the tip!
You need to get rid of the stupid music. Very annoying.
I agree
I like your presentation, but your video editing needs work. I got a headache with all of the fast forwarding. Just put out a long video and like the viewers FF.
Thanks for the feedback, I appreciate it!
