I love Pitbulls. However, all the difference in their behavior are solely due to a good parent who knows how to train them properly or people out there who teach them to be aggressive. Many people have Pitbulls as a fashion statement. Some make them mean to threaten and intimidate people. It is sad for all the pitties out there for the bad rap they inherit. 😢

Remember being a kid in the 80 and 90. Pits had a bad name. Even I was afraid of them cause their rep. Got one in my early 20. Treated her with respect and lots of love. She was one the best dogs I've ever had. Now in 2024 I have a red nose, American, a bully and a rat terrier. The pits are the guards and the rat runs the house. Lol... pits are very affectionate and respectful if you raise them right. No abuse, or fighting. I know if my wife and I get in a argument and we raise our voice... omg!!!! They complain to us cause they don't like tension in the family. Pits were very under rated back in the day. I love seeing people treat them with respect now. They good to your family if your good to them.

I was the same way until I rescued ours. They are wonderful dogs. Go rescue a puppy or a surrendered one from a family. Training and socialization is key. You will have a best friend for life. Bonus is they are generally healthy dogs. Females would be my suggestion if you don't have another female dog.

These are not all pitbulls. Some are Staffordshire and American Staffordshire Terriers, and American Bullies, all cousins to the pitbull.
Still proof however, it really is not the breed. It is the individual dog, period.

American Pitbull Terrier,American Staffordshire Terrier and American Staffordshire bull Terrier,American bully and American Bulldog are all Pitbulls.
Pitbull is just the generic term for all of these species.

Which also goes to show how pitbulls get their bad reputation since people don't realize what breed it was that actually attacked their dog and tend to default to pitbull if they look even a little bit like one

Exactly. And they have done multiple studies proving more than 60% of dogs are mislabeled as pitbulls.
As a vet tech and certified trainer who has been volunteering and fostering for decades now, I have HUNDREDS of examples of people, even "professionals" that constantly are mislabeling dogs. Even dogs that look NOTHING like a bully breed, let alone a pitbull.
I've even seen people label Austrian pinchers, mastiffs, Rhodesian Ridgebacks, even black labs as pitbulls. The list goes on an on....
