Met Bo and his wife outside Schembechler Hall just as he was leaving for home 3 days prior to the Wisconsin game 2006. He had the patience to sign my Michigan Football Memories DVD, and pose for 3 photos...Cathy took them. 2 months later he died. This was a great man, a great soul. Bo gave his whole heart to Michigan football, and that's all anyone can ask. And that's what I told him on the day I met him on the steps of Schembechler Hall. Never forget it. Go, BLUE!!
"On January 15, 1982, Texas A&M offered Schembechler nearly $3 million for 10 years-the richest contract in the history of college athletics-to become the school's football coach and athletic director. Schembechler turned it down. "Frankly, I've come to the conclusion that there are things more important in this world than money," Schembechler said. "For that reason, I've decided to stay at Michigan."
I watched Bo's teams all through his career...when I met Tyler Ecker, tight end, at the 2007 Rosebowl Beef Bowl party, I told him that I was watching Bo before he was born! Never had been to Ann Arbor--even though born in Flint--in my entire life until 2006, when I met Mike Hart, Steve Breaston, and Bo within 30 minutes of one another, just prior to the Wiconsin game. Never forget it. Round trip from California? $750..and gas. Meeting Bo Schembechler? PRICELESS...
i met bo at a practice in 1982 i sat next to john wangler during the practice game and afterwards i was down on the field and bo looks at me and waves me over tells me nice hat ( i was wearing the same hat he did )and i asked him for his autograph he signed it for me and i still have it to this day ! GO BLUE !!!!!!!!!
that's funny, cause according to Mike Rosenberg's book on the ten year war, that was the only game during the war that wasn't televised nationally, or at least that's what he said.
@IsoscelesKramer71 Thats why I loved Bo. If you listen to his The Team speech, you will understand that Bo always thought there is noone bigger then team or the program, even him.
I remember that game, it was very HOT and Muggy! We had a nasty storm that night at my house! We need to get back to scheduling tougher non conference opponents!
What do you think should happen? Im not saying that UofM wont get better but i do not think that RR will accomplish anything close to what BO or Moller of Lloyd did. Who won your um wash game by the way were you there and how many game have you actualy gone to. were you at the osu game or were you watching it on tv like all the other fair weather fans.
To the "tough guy" father. That I only got a chance to meet a few times. Thank God, you have a new woman in "Cat". And hopefully, the manipulations of corrupt power will keep me free for the duration of the season. Especially, Ohio State. Very difficult maneuvering.
We need to bring the U of M tradition Back!! Get Rid Of the Away jerzeys bring back the one's from yesteryear. They need to get stronger mentally and physically. We need the coach of U of M to be strong emotionally and not cry when things are not going his way. He also needs to morally sound in his presonal life. Glad BO isn't around to see what is happining to Wolverines he would be furious!!
Bo was overhyped just like Harbaugh. 21 years and he never won a national championship and he benefited from the fact that the B1G was a pathetically weak league.
@@WolverineDevotee and MSU is 10-5 vs your adopted garbage program in the Dantonio and Tucker era.3 B1G championships in 2010,13 and 15. Try and top that!
@@jessev5761 Bo was overrated. So how did it age like milk? Btw... This comment was made long before i would ever know that Harbaugh was a liar and a cheater. So enjoy your natty with an asterisk around it.😀
Bo was awesome. May his soul rest in eternal peace. 4ever Go Blue!

Bo: "I'm Bo Schembechler and one time I coached in this stadium"
Talk about the understatement of the century

Our opener against Washington. The Phil Brabbs game.
I think I might have found someone who can sell me a copy of the 71 OSU game. I'm going to be looking into that in the coming weeks.

Bo won 13 B1G Championships and has 2 unclaimed national titles in 1973 and 1985. And was 17-4 against your pathetic school.
