Washington and Michigan being higher than a spartan is outrageous. I feel like the fact it’s been around since the 70s and still looks like one of the most modern logos in the NCAA just has to put it at #1
Michigan: "My logo's an M." Minnesota: "My logo's an M." Northwestern: "My logo's an N." Nebraska: "My logo's an N." Purdue: "My logo's a P." Illinois: "My logo's an I." Indiana: "My logo's an I with a U." Big Ten: "Woah woah woah Indiana!! Let's not get too crazy with the logos now! We're going to have to drug test you!"
The Iowa uniform is a replica of the Pittsburgh Steelers uniforms. SUI(State University of Iowa) asked the Steelers for permission to replicate their uniforms and the Steelers gave them permission to do so. Of course, that was many years ago. Early Hayden Fry years, if I remember right. Iowa has had 2 head coaches since the late 1970s. Hayden Fry and Kirk Ferentz.
It's kinda uncanny how sports success sometimes can influence our view of a team's logo. I don't think Michigan or Ohio State have tremendous logos, and I can't help but think Indiana would be higher if they were any good in football. Penn State definitely has a great logo and IMO the best uniforms in college football. Solid pick on the Hawkeyes 💪🏼 I've been a Hawkeye my whole life, and I think both the current logo and the throwback ones are awesome. The Tigerhawk is so legendary.
MSU and USC should move up. PSU and IA are in the top three since they are great symbols of team nicknames. If MSU made the Spartan bigger, it would stand out more. The Trojan symbol should be used and drop the letters.
I'm a 63 year old lifelong graphic artist and I mostly agree. I'm also from Iowa but it is just a great design. I designed the latest logo for the Arizona Cardinals but someone beat me to it.
The Oregon O actually has some history behind it. The outside of the O represents the stands at Autzen filled with ducks fans. the inside of the O is meant to represent the track at Hayward field and their famous track and field Program. Makes it even better.
Purdue Pete is NOT Purdue's mascot. The official mascot is "The Boilermaker Special"; a locomotive! It is actually built on a truck chasis so it is street legal and goes to all away games. Purdue has a secondary logo (still in use) that is a frontal shot of said train! If y base your ranking that is just on the football helmet, that's fair, but taken as a whole the Boilers should be much higher.
With you going to the new realignment I am really curious on how youll do the Pac"12". Gonna be a 20 second video. (Though really I am hoping you just throw in WSU and OSU in with the Mountain West)
Im definitely biased as a Husker fan but I genuinely feel like Nebraska has the cleanest helmets in the Big Ten. Clean white no stickers, simple red N and a single Red stripe. Hard to go wrong with that
It's boring though. I would rank Nebraskas N above schools that use modern letters like Purdue and Illinois because the simple block N seems classic, nostalgic, and vintage BUT Nebraska is definitely worse than Oregon and any school that uses a logo rather than a letter. Iowa is rightfully at #1 as their logo is completely unique, never duplicated, and has an extremely striking color combination.
Sparty's S... no different than every other college letter but the white classical greek helmet (Kranos) logo on a field of green... best in college football!
The football team at Maryland went back to the script Terps logo that was first used in 1982 through 1991, which were the years that Bobby Ross and the late Joe Krivak were coaching and revived in 2001-2010 when Ralph Friedgen, a former assistant under Bobby Ross and Maryland alum was head coach and used in 2019 for Maryland's throwback for college football 150th anniversary and made permanent this past season under coach Mike Locksley, a former assistant under both Ralph Friedgen and Randy Edsall at Maryland. Whenever you see the script Terps anywhere in the country, it automatically associates with the University of Maryland because there are no other colleges in the country that have the Terrapin as their mascot
No way you but the Oregon ducks Logo over Ohio states. Ohio states is way more iconic way more clever and creative and just looks better. Then Oregon just putting an O
It's both. As just a team symbol it's been portrayed both ways and on the helmets it varies depending on the primary color, yellow O on green and green or even black on yellow. Hell, in October it's pink. The "O" isn't constrained to any single color any more than our uniforms are and if you wanna go old scholl then remember that the old UO style helmets were also green lettering on a yellow field so...
@@jeremygilbert7989 OK, you are right. But consider the "O" behind Dan Lanning's Leather chair giving news conference for example is YELLOW. At Autzen stadium the LOGO and Name ( OREGON ) is YELLOW plus the "O" outside of Autzen stadium is YELLOW. I believe that YELLOW 'O" is favored more than the GREEN "O" EXCEPTION Matthew Knight Arena.
I was certain that Oregon was going to be #18. I can't think of anyone outside of UO alums and fans who like the Ducks. Iowa and MSU are #1 and 2. There is a strong tendency to rank football tradition and success over great uniforms and logos. Both PSU and OSU have rather bland and mediocre uniforms yet get too much love based on their football tradition alone.
Dude Northwestern definitely deserves higher the reason the "N" is the way it is because of the implementation of the "Northwestern Stripe," which is implemented in all their sports uniforms.
