Why does everyone over-look the fact that they are struggling for rent and yet the shirtless guy wants to buy a very expensive waffle maker, Neenah is working on building a custom car and the protagonist just buys a hundred knives on the TV show?

Nobody is overlooking how stupid the game's plot is. As someone who really liked SR1-2 for its story and its well done understanding of the politics in the story, I am well aware of how unbelievably ignorant, and generally stupid the reboot's plot is. This game is about people who live in condos thinking not having a top price waffle maker is a struggle. Turning Saints Row into Friends is right. Like what crime drama even out today would have a plot and characters like this?. The game feels like just a mashup of tweets that they told each other, and wrote out for their plot or something.
Like their writer and director can tell you they didn't know what they were doing without telling us they didn't know what they were doing. The plot isnt even bad for its genre, it doesn't make a lick of sense for whatever it was about let alone it being a poor representation of gangsters, even if they were deconstructive. Gangsters come from poverty, but this game isnt about that. There is no way it could have been that hard to just research shit instead of just trying to appeal to journalists and twitter.
And it goes from 'I can pitch in twenty!' to 'Lets go rob a store!' in the span of about a minute. At this point in time at least two of you have reputable jobs and the store is a block from your house, no one wears masks and you literally murder the police who come after you. The game has no sense of pacing at all.
There's a joke in here somewhere about a Starbucks barista complaining about their student loans from the latest iPhone.

My dad raised me up on the first two games and we played 3 and 4 and thought they were okayish but not as good of the previous installments, when we heard about this game we got a little excited. Fast forward to release day and my dad buys it and we both play it and we kept our expectations low because we heard about the backlash and it was something.....we beat the game to get the full verdict and my dad then says to me "this is hot fucking trash" and i agree. Thankfully saints row 2 was on games with gold so we fired that up and let the title screen music run and let the good memories erase the trauma of this experience

I wanted the story to continue. Traveling through space and time with Santa Claus and the Saints seemed like fun.
Then the boss wakes up in a hospital bed and realizes this whole ordeal was just a drug fueled coma after being nearly murdered, the whole gang is in shambles and you have to rebuild your empire from scratch.

I had a good laugh last night when I went to see how people were reacting to Volition merging with Gearbox and saw that they had released a major patch for the game just hours prior. I laughed because literally every comment I read was either "they didn't fix X or Y" or "Z is now even worse after this patch." The most significant example was the aiming; I dropped the game before finishing it because of how fucking awful the aiming acceleration was, and apparently now it's even worse. I don't know how that's possible but I have no desire to reinstall the game and find out.

That as the funniest shit I read too. They were like "we went hard on this one. Bright future" and the game is still shit. Now some people saying all the NPCs are gone from their game. Delayed for 6 months and changed nothing, game is still a mess on release, 200 patches now post release, and its still busted. Where did they seriously find these programmers? Or were their priorities just way too absorbed in their stupid marketing, or thought their younger fans would just care about the customization? Like this reboot way too much money into optics, messaging and trying to shutdown feedback than actual work into it being a good game. Even non fans think its mediocre.

The only way I see Saints Row being successful is by some sort of remaster for SR1 and SR2. Starting over again isn't really an option, The good will is completely gone, The faith is gone, As far as the general and casual consumer is concerned Saints Row isn't a franchise to be invested in, The fans are upset and dwindling away and the devs ARE SO CONFIDENT of there vision its actually insane.
I'd only accept a remake of SR1 and 2 as an apology. Everything is just going to be gimmicky kiddie stuff for the reboot, that I'm not interested in.

Was skeptical the moment I saw the main character,and confirmed when they gave us details and game play. 😒 Game was D.O.A and deserved it.
I was mad when I saw that dinosaur statue, that cat helmet, and how bad the game models look compared to the CG trailer.
I liked all Saints Row from 1 to 4 and while I agree that 4 went little bit too far into Sci-Fi territory, I still liked it. I am sad that this new game effectively killed franchise. While it is possible for it to return, since this game sold poorly it’s not going to happen anytime soon. Maybe it’s for the better too, since if next Saints Row game was made nowadays, it would more than likely be a failure and not “real” SR game if you know what I mean.

The best I could ever say about this game is that it's mid. Even so, I wasn't willing to play more of it or even finish endgame after completing the story. Not worth the time for me.

If you actually also look in the games credits, mainly the writers you'll also find that none of them have any history with the saints row franchise.... So none of the writers from one or two had a single part in the creation of this atrocious crap fest of a game, not even 3 or 4 writers were involved...

LMAO the bucket of bullets part is accurate, in most games like red dead online using a revolver over a pistol can be annoying becaue it takes 4 out of 6 shots to kill a ruthless difficulty enemy, once you put it on that level you can forget about 1 hit sniper shots, i hate games that make bullet sprung AI, i think gta 4 did balancing perfectly with damage.
I can't speak for the offline but man an online game is gonna have bullet sponge enemies, no shit. Lol
It needs to artificially increase difficulty because it's online and you can be helped via other players.
It should be 3 revolver shots on hard and 2 on easy and 1 shot sniping armored enemies on easy and 2 shots on hard
To me, Saints Row was always just a fun goofy game, nothing more, nothing less. They didn't even succeed at making this reboot goofy, and not even remotely close to fun. Every person that greenlit this project to ever come out onto the market needs to stop being involved in game development period.

I have to give credit where credit is due, these developers were very confident that hipsters were going to be intimidating.
I have to believe that the Saints Row 2022 developers were having seriously bad days while working on this game regardless of the arrogance they displayed on Twitter being very defensive of the game and aggressively attacking the fanbase. It is absolutely mind-blowing.
You know you have a professional team, when your manager decided to call anyone terrorists, because you dare say the game is bad.

I heard from AJTS, Gearbox is gonna help Volition work on Saints Row now.
I know a few of the people who play this game.
And the common thing between them, they don't really have tastes and preferences. They're too busy working to care about being super into specific IP's.
They're just buying whatever the newest game is and going to the theater for the newest movies.
Ie, consoomers.
They didn't care about Saints Row 1 to 5, probably didn't even know about them. They just saw this advertised as the newest city sandbox game, and got it on a whim.
None of them even beat it.
They don't have time.
So that's who this is for. This was made for the average consumer, who doesn't have time to think too much about little things cuz they're just tryna live life and only ever want to blow off steam for an hour or 2 when they have free time.
Not fans. Not "gamers". Just ppl who could take or leave any given activity(games included) in their little bit of off time.

Did they finally add in all the stuff they promised the game would have on launch? Customizable vehicles, every mission being multi ending, your origin mattering longer than five minutes, the city being fully explorable, the buildings being fully explorable etc.

Deliver broken game, don't bother finishing it, then sell more half finished buggy add-ons to really twist the knife.

Along with some quality of life improvements and they really haven't done much in what two years? And they are abandoning last generation consoles even though they promised to keep supporting them. And they broke my ps4 disc by updating and not testing it making it impossible to play on it. What a joke of a company.
The characters and story were approved because they ticked all the right boxes which are all the WRONG BOXES! It was a story where the characters stole everything and didn't earn one damn thing... so essentially one really huge woke snowflake entitlement wet dream. My only fear is that things could get worse, and people will one day look on this turd and say it's at least a shiny turd. NO! NO! Bad! A turd is a turd is a turd. Doesn't matter if it's film, games, or art. Worse things do not make worse things better or more tolerable! It may have sprinkles, it may have whipped topping, it may have a cherry, but it is still a reboot/remake turd. I don't even think you could make a decent street gang title with a decent story and straight characters anymore, it's the Blazing Saddles problem.

I mean, If Im gonna be honest. Saints Row the Third was solid in my opinion.
I absolutely love Saints Row 1 and 2, but Third was a nice little change.
Saints Row 2 had a very dark tone to it within its story mode, and It was one of the best stories I ever played through (I havent finished Saints Row since It was on Xbox and at the time I had a PS3)

I just did another playthru of Saints Row The Third and as I played it I compared to the new game and a game from 2011 has more detail and better story than the brand new game it's just sad that they didn't listen to their loyal fans. That's why I'm replaying the old games

As a native New Mexican, I can confirm that putting any game in it needs to understand that it is fucking dead or boring literally everywhere but Albuquerque (whereas there you'll just end up dead)
Testing likely happened, and with a tester who had "working eyes"; but the moment that is set and done, the list of bugs goes to a corpo who just takes a quick look at it, asks how much time and money it'd cost to fix all that, and then asks again but for only fixing the bare minimum that'd allow the game to not crash in the first two hours to avoid Steam refunds.
1:43 yeah Marc Spector played by Oscar Isaac going insane and slapping himself repeatedly feels like the perfect reaction to the reboot in general from the Fans of the franchise. The reboot feels like GTA at home, yes the series had kinda done that til the tater entries but this one feels like one of those bootleg GTA games just it's not a bootleg and doesn't have as much swearing and M for Mature stuff as GTA
