1929 లాహోర్ లో జరిగిన భారత జాతీయ కాంగ్రెస్ సమావేశంలో "సంపూర్ణ స్వరాజ్" తీర్మానం చేశారు . ఈ సమావేశానికి నెహ్రూ అధ్యక్షుడు.
1930 జనవరి 26 లోగా బ్రిటిష్ వారు దేశం వదిలివెల్లాలి ,పూర్తి అధికారం భారతీయులకే ఉండాలి అనేది తీర్మాన సారాంశం.
దానికి గుర్తుగా 1949 నవంబర్ 26 న రాజ్యాంగం ఆమోదించిబడినప్పటికీ , 1950 జనవరి 26 నుండి అమలులోకి వచ్చింది.
