I'm one of them😂😊 But I'm sure I've listened to it way more than that. Heck in high school this and Mixmaster Morris' The Morning After I gamed a lot of RPGs and went to bed to these on the regular.
Well over 250 times. I’m on my 4th hard copy original CD. I’ve been able to find most of the tracks on vinyl, and have mixed them countless times. Sending you guys mad freaking love! I can’t believe I’m turning 52 in a few days!
4:05 to 6:45 is the greatest transition I've ever heard in my life. The drop at 6:45 is legend and I remember it to this day since I first bought this cd.
Oh man oh man! No way to explain the goosebumps I have right now. Renaissance, Norther exposure, Global Underground! That IS class. Its not the past, for me this is eternal.
I have been a part of the 90’s rave music scene in Florida ever since this cd was released and even danced with DJ Sasha. This is the ultimate listening trance cd ever recorded! If you don’t get (understand) the impact of this cd in the dance/rave community, get on board!
@@Lesardah You are absolutely right about that! I miss those years! Which clubs did you frequent in Orlando? Do you remember The Club At Firestone? That was my ultimate favorite! I used to dance in the cage in front of the dj booth! 😃
@@GigShotsCarmenG We went to Firestone all the time. I remember we had a "tactic." There was this place up the street from Firestone called Club Cairo which had an open bar from 10 to 12. Then we'd finish the night at Firestone. We mainly went to the raves, though. A close friend of mine was friends with DJ Sandy and Tess from K5, so we got to get in VIP sometimes (met Crystal Method once - insane). Orlando was a great place for the "early days" of EDM! Lauderdale and West Palm had more of a house / dance music culture. While Trance has always been my favorite (especially Chicane, rest his beautiful soul), I loved it all. Kinda into New Retro Wave now - especially The Midnight :)
I bought this and Expeditions in CD format from HMV in Bromley. It was 98 or 99 and I was working in the ad sales team at Loaded magazine in London. These two albums never left the company car. I drove anywhere and everywhere to these sounds. I'd go for a drive to nowhere just so as to blast them out sooner than annoy my girlfriend and neighbours back in the flat. We were clubbing every weekend in those years. Bagleys. The Cross. Club UK. Leisure Lounge. Satellite Club. Strawberry Sunday. The Fridge. The 414. The End. SW1 (later Pacha). Club SE1. Heavenly Social@The Gallery. Ministry of Sound. It was all high-end clubbing with quality mixing and sounds. But nothing quite so house-dub-cool as these lads. Only Paul Trouble Anderson, Seb Fontaine and Eric Morillo come to mind as DJ's I danced to live on set with a quality threshold anywhere near. Wow! What a privilege to witness all of that! God bless.
Sasha & Digweed were the absolute leaders in tune selection. Each of the northern exposures produced absolutely golden segments! Timeless. So many emotive segments you just play on repeat. Hard to replicate in there modern era.
Listened all the way through my teens, and ultimately landed on techno. Surgeon, Regis, mulero, Clarke etc but that prog sound was unbeatable in its time.
@@peterpratt1526 real tawk. Even the old guys are putting out sub par music. I've noticed every band/composer from the 90s lost their cred trying to be pop.
I’ve bought this Album a couple of times. I’m old balls. I’ve either leant it out, not to have it returned, or stolen. This is my all time favorite album, and I can not live without it!
This album is incredible! I’m old as hell too. 50 in February. I remember being 20 years old in Tampa during the late night rave days and listening to this over and over. It’s a masterpiece
@@nataliewilkerson8739 52 here. I listened to this after to going to Club Utopia in Vegas. My best friends took my ex wife and me to it. That’s where we both tried x for the first time. I've been attending and producing raves since 1986. started in Miami, Tampa, and my all time favorite spot was Firestone in Orlando. But this is, has, and always will be the most beautiful and precise mix ever. From beginning to end... And for the one guys comment... I've felt like I was in Heaven quite a few times with this gem man. 47 years old and I still love to get down.
Quite simply the best mix the two have ever done in my opinion. Singularly I think Sasha takes the edge with his legendary Global Underground albums and his personal work but this in my opinion is the best side of a cd album they have ever done. Mixing, tune choice, smoothness, and class are impeccable, no one can come close to what they have achieved when it comes to mood mixing, several waves of goosebumps have descended upon me in the last 70 minutes or so!
I'd respectfully disagree and say that as an individual, John Digweed is more skillful. It is a very close-run thing and they have different strengths; Digweed is more technical and subtle while Sasha is more dramatic. Let's face it, they are two of the best but I think that it is fair to say that together they are better than either are by themselves.
John Whyte I somewhat agree, I feel they're equally good yet different in style. When combined together they're easily the best DJ act I have heard, absolutely magical.
Mate, I listened to everything they put out in real time and for me, the 'Journey By DJ' series of c1994 Sash/Digweed #4 was, and still is my favourite! But the margin between all their stuff, especially Digweed was narrow because it was all great. More importantly it was in the right place at the right time...Including me! :) "Put your hands in the air and say you just don't care!"
@IAmaPersion I did, I don't know why that is. I basically said I can't remember where I read it but the difference in styles is obvious. In a really long winded way lol
This was something very special to me and in fact it in some ways indescribable to others who were not Around during those awesome years. kind of difficult to put into words how much this cd means to me. Sucks I have tried to buy it and am never find it. This cd is my dark side of the moon much love for posting this
I was there too. I even danced along with Sasha in Orlando. I’ll never forget that! After all these years, this is still my favorite trance recording EVER!
So many memories. Driving along deep forest roads, with gorgeous scenery to die for, as a taxi driver delivering a package to Ystradgynlais, Swansea from Wrexham. This as loud as loud can be .... wonderful !!!
And there are two Iranian-American guys called Deep Dish who are just as brilliant as they are. They may be a bit more commercial but also superb. Their Global Underground projects speak for themselves.
this mix has everything.. great vocal tunes, build ups/breakdowns,breaks, snarling acid, trance. it's got the lot..not many djs can take you on a proper journey, but this is sublime
I wish I could get all of the people who love this album and understand it to dance under the milky way on a clear night...or even better under the Aurora Borealis in the arctic circle...this album is still as amazing as when it was first released and it brings back so many memories for me. Take care...we are all friends through a shared love of music, this particular album is enough to heal wounds and stop wars if only more people heard it!
Reminds me of road trips to snowboard in the mountains in Colorado. We’d play this CD cranked up along the mountain passes. Was the best! Took you away to another place.
I love this whole mix sooo much. It always takes me back to my early “raver” days. Listened to it so many times, either in the bg, blasting it in my car, or in the comfort of my own home. Nothing but pure sonic love. Sacred to my ears. Lost Tribe’s Angel… into Gus Gus Purple… to finish with Hybrid Symphony…. ~Heavenly~
I spent $300 on a 1gb mp3 player in 2005 and this cd was one of seven (I think) that went with me to Iraq. These tracks drown out the noise while I slept. They played in the back of my mind while on patrol. These tracks are the soundtrack to my early 20s. I came looking for them because my 2nd grade daughter came home from her covid daycare/virtual school playing some dude called Alan Wake (The Spectre specifically...on Repeat1) and I tossed all my original CDs before she was born. Couldn't find them on any old hard drives so I'm grateful for this hard to find album being here. I'm hoping she can appreciate TRUE deep house. ...honestly, I'm feeling really vulnerable that she will turn her nose up at it...but it'll be ok. Seven year olds are wrong all the time. She will learn in time. If I spin this enough.
+Charles Pulman Definately......I'm guilty of that myself when I mix. I just want to play the slammers without to much thought about the mix.....guess that's why I'm not sasha and digweed :)
Sasha is (in my opinion) like a Chanel suit. He will never go out of style. This album is literally perfection and still relevant 20 some odd years later. ❤
I got to see them AGAIN in Denver 4/16/2023…. 5 hours of bliss! There were folks from around the world there. 5 hours. I loved walking up to total strangers and asking them what their favorite mix was….. of course I always answered NE 2 East Coast edition!!!
Yeah you missed having to buy the same music over and over back in the day since you would play good music like this too many times and the tape in your walkman would wear out. Remember putting this onto my first iPod too so it wouldn't wear out anymore. Only problem then is your ears would wear out first now LOL
Arguably the best album of modern dance music. It is timeless. While the beats and sounds may seem rudimentary by modern day standards, the classic sounds and a generous soulful rhythm give this album a solid 5 stars. Kudos to Sasha and John Digweed. Probably their greatest collaborative effort ever.
Was a raver from the get go late eighties and this is my fav trance cd ever, man do I love pulling it out on the playlist and go back to the good days hard n out of it on brown buiscuits n dove’s, you can hear sounds that no one get blew my mind and still gives me goosies n shiver’s up d spine, thank you Sasha and digweed thanks for coming to sir Henry’s in cork city I’ll never forget it thank you so so much for the experience many many times I’ve seen ye live, live it up!! Bang d bass 😝😝😝😝😝😝😝😝😝😝😝
😂 TOO FUNNY! I’ve done a few of em in my undergrad days. Encompassing this album with the broader context of EDM music. I feel every emotion within the span of this freaking God tier mix!
OmG!! I've been searching for this album for twelve years!! I used to listen to it over and over and over and over and over and over and over and I still love it!! The best mix ever created & it will never ever get old!! My favorite of all time. Yay!
This is THE progressive album IMHO. I have yet to find such a seamless and well thought out mix of breaks, trance, and house music. Some of the most obscure tracks you'll ever lay ears on put together in an hour of flawless musical bliss.
Without a doubt sasha gr8st mix here the track selection is absolutely mind blowing he works the the set up 2 peak time tune angel lost tribes my goodness me still fresh after 24 yrs god bless Mr coe n digweed👌❤️👏🕺
It’s not finished Symphony, it’s just Symphony which was the original by Mike Truman. When he teamed up with Chris, then rewrote it with the Russian federation Orchestra and called it Finished Symphony 😉 But yeah, from Uberzone to Fluke to Distant Voices to Purple and then capping off with Symphony, I couldn’t ask for more out of electronic music. The pinnacle still 24 years later
I've listened to all their releases and seen them live playing together and separately on countless occasions. Gotta say this mix is their finest shit. 1st time ever listening to this gem and i'm speechless.
Loving this.. Paul O got me started on this journey many years back but I was amazed at NE#1 and NE#2 is imprevisse also, can't wait to check out CD2. Also to lacrahuntington great to see another tour for NIN just a few months back.
I still remember when I first heard this mix. I was in college around 2006/2007 sitting at my computer. I had recently downloaded FLAC versions of this album and all of Sasha and Digweed's famous albums from Renaissance through Expeditions. I got them from the private torrent tracker OiNK, which was shut down some months later. I was going through them all in order. With my headphones on playing it at low volume while doing my thing, at some point, maybe a quarter of the way in, I had to stop... "Whoa, this is good," I thought to myself. It took my breath away. Ever since then this has been my all time favorite mix. I doubt anything will ever take its mantle. - John Brier P.S. I have since bought physical copies of Northern Exposure 1 and 2 from eBay or Amazon.
This is my all time favorite cd. Arguably the best EM cd ever released. The greatest adventure I've ever been on EVER. I can't tell you how many times I've bought this cd, simply because I was always giving it away.
Thanks Eli Carr … Sublimely Blissful!!!🎶 Glorious and of such excellence, grandeur, or beauty as to inspire great admiration or awe. Like Mozart's sublime piano… •exalted •elevated •awe-inspiring •majestic •magnificent •supreme •grand •first-class •superb •marvelous •splendid •blissful •rapturous •stellar •heavenly •divine •mind-blowing •too good to be true •out of this world •of such excellence •elevated to a high degree of moral or spiritual purity or excellence."let your thoughts be sublimed by the spirit of God."
Every time I lose interest or need inspiration on what it takes to be a good DJ and/or make a good mix, I listen to the Northern Exposure compilations. My only complaint is that unless you have the vinyls and are a DJ-you don't truly comprehend the mastery and sophistication this series entails. This series even from a historically point of view is ground breaking. This is when progressive breaks were in their infancy, trance wasn't a popular genre, & many DJ's didn't cross genre boundaries.
saw these guys in a tiny club called "escape" in brighton when I was about 14. that was 1992 i've listened to these albums since they came out and they just never get old
23:30 , giving me chills, and brings me to tears these days. I will alway love you. If I could go back in time, I would have never lost you. ❤️🩹 😢 26:10 ok, pity party done. Back to the deep space exploration. 😂
This particular version of Northern Exposure (East Coast Version) was transformative for me back in the day. I am so happy to find it again (I miss my old CD of it so bad)! Thank you for letting me finally find it again. This album is a musical journey into bliss😊

And there are two Iranian-American guys called Deep Dish who are just as brilliant as they are. They may be a bit more commercial but also superb. Their Global Underground projects speak for themselves.
makes me cry with joy its so good
I agree, tears of happynesss, can only listen on special occasions..
The transition from Cycles of time to Dammerung is absolutely mind blowing.
By far the best mix ever by anybody.
this mix has everything.. great vocal tunes, build ups/breakdowns,breaks, snarling acid, trance.
it's got the lot..not many djs can take you on a proper journey, but this is sublime
Now this is Music! The original Masters at work.
Totally agree!😊
Reminds me of road trips to snowboard in the mountains in Colorado. We’d play this CD cranked up along the mountain passes. Was the best! Took you away to another place.
I love this whole mix sooo much. It always takes me back to my early “raver” days. Listened to it so many times, either in the bg, blasting it in my car, or in the comfort of my own home. Nothing but pure sonic love. Sacred to my ears.
Lost Tribe’s Angel… into Gus Gus Purple… to finish with Hybrid Symphony….
~Heavenly~
Love me some break beats too!
The chill vibe of this mix helped me during some very turbulent times in my life. As a result I always have a special place in my heart for this mix.
same here man. this specific disc has seen me through some very dark moments in my life.
Kai Chen Glad to hear it's helped someone else. I'm still coming back again. :)
Same here
I spent $300 on a 1gb mp3 player in 2005 and this cd was one of seven (I think) that went with me to Iraq.
This is a perfect example of not using the best tracks, but the right ones.
Charles Pulman they simply used the tracks that rode out well in loooong mixes... impeccable imo
+Charles Pulman Definately......I'm guilty of that myself when I mix. I just want to play the slammers without to much thought about the mix.....guess that's why I'm not sasha and digweed :)
Same haha
Rumble Fish my father always says the same (sorry for the bad english)
There are mixes and then there are works of art. This is a work of art.
Worded perfectly
Unsurpassed to this day.
If you just got here, you have been blessed to hear a top shelf, mid nineties, before the EDM disaster, historical masterpiece.
Music for the soul...the body....and the mind!
If this was released in the 17th century, Sasha would have been burned at the stake for this musical sorcery! Timeless mix!
This mix blew my mind close to 20 years ago and still does every.single.time. The OG’s G.O.A.T mix!!!
Sasha is (in my opinion) like a Chanel suit. He will never go out of style. This album is literally perfection and still relevant 20 some odd years later. ❤
Pure genius. This set is one of those rare moments that transcend music ❤
I got to see them AGAIN in Denver 4/16/2023…. 5 hours of bliss! There were folks from around the world there. 5 hours. I loved walking up to total strangers and asking them what their favorite mix was….. of course I always answered NE 2 East Coast edition!!!
I wasn't even born when this was made and that's bittersweet because this is gold.
+4lexandra C Glad you like it....music is ageless.....pardon the pun :)
+4lexandra C Sasha and Digweed are truly amazing DJs! Keep an eye out for them since they are having a reunion tour starting this fall 2016!
Yeah you missed having to buy the same music over and over back in the day since you would play good music like this too many times and the tape in your walkman would wear out. Remember putting this onto my first iPod too so it wouldn't wear out anymore. Only problem then is your ears would wear out first now LOL
I'm now 60 years old. When you have good taste in music it will never, ever leave you!!! Take care young lady!
Old soul??

these comments make me so happy. Brings back so many early memories when i was first introduced to Sasha and Digweed around 96
It’s my bday tomorrow so I’m straight up jamming to this right now. Still get the goosebumps from this. 1997 was the best year ever.
YES! I wrote my Ph.D. thesis to this album. It was like a portal for creativity, and I wrote the whole thing in about three weeks to these beats.
Yay!
amen
Werd!!
Great mix, thanks. This digweed probably a sativa. Very dreamy and euphoric😛
THis still speaks to me and moves my soul and my feet...from about 40:19 minutes until ...8 years later! #LA Burning Man parties!
Best trance mix in the world in my opinion, sit back and listen to something beyond magic...you know...
Hybrid "Finished Symphony" sliding in so gracefully to end this mix is the icing on an amazing, perfect cake. 5 star mix from the original masters :D
It’s not finished Symphony, it’s just Symphony which was the original by Mike Truman.
When he teamed up with Chris, then rewrote it with the Russian federation Orchestra and called it Finished Symphony 😉
But yeah, from Uberzone to Fluke to Distant Voices to Purple and then capping off with Symphony, I couldn’t ask for more out of electronic music.
The pinnacle still 24 years later
Hybrid is a freaking great Electronica group! They write some of the most epic music...
northern exposure east & west coast NEVER seem to get old... 💕 EVER.
I've listened to all their releases and seen them live playing together and separately on countless occasions. Gotta say this mix is their finest shit. 1st time ever listening to this gem and i'm speechless.
Yeah, can't argue with that! Quality from start to finish!
This CD got me into electronica when I was in 6th grade, I'm 25 now. It was indescribable to hear this for the first time.
Certainly waited too long :)
Loving this.. Paul O got me started on this journey many years back but I was amazed at NE#1 and NE#2 is imprevisse also, can't wait to check out CD2. Also to lacrahuntington great to see another tour for NIN just a few months back.
Top banana! S&D are the Best of Best
Hell yeah 48 and still loving it, grew up in London, Manchester was the shit, hacienda forever
Driving home from parties we would play this album.
Wow , the memories are crashing down on me.
- John Brier
P.S. I have since bought physical copies of Northern Exposure 1 and 2 from eBay or Amazon.
This is my all time favorite cd. Arguably the best EM cd ever released. The greatest adventure I've ever been on EVER. I can't tell you how many times I've bought this cd, simply because I was always giving it away.
incredible mix, never tire of listening to this. A masterpiece.
Stunning album, worth posting… always.
One of the best Dissolves in music history.
Psppppsp
Indeed
The MAN!!! Have had the opportunity to see him several times over the years. First time in 93'. O the memories.❤️❤️❤️☺️
Simply one of the best cds ever !
GOT 2 SAY..............I'M LOVING THE BITS OF "BREAK-BEAT???"😁
The most mind blowing/ heart pounding mix that I'll EVER own..
I have it up on my CD shelf
resting WAY UP above the rest.
Thanks Eli Carr … Sublimely Blissful!!!🎶
Glorious and of such excellence, grandeur, or beauty as to inspire great admiration or awe.

Spot on.
2000 raver days!!!!!! goes out to all my friends that i lost!!!!!!! love this!!!!!
They ever play this shit 20 years later at shows? I would pay top dollar to attend that shit, Both Northern Exposure sets and both Communicate sets.
The Holy Spirit's favourite mix! 🌟❤🌟
I have this disc in my car, play it over and over. It's that good!
This takes me back to the 1990s...beautiful! X
saw these guys in a tiny club called "escape" in brighton when I was about 14. that was 1992 i've listened to these albums since they came out and they just never get old
23:30 , giving me chills, and brings me to tears these days.
One of my all time favorites! 2023!!
