Whenever someone tries to say that DJ’s aren’t real musicians or that drum machines have no soul, this is what breaks the stereotype. This is on par with the genius composers. A true sonic journey for the discerning audiophile.
Wholeheartedly agree!!! These 2 are the epitome of DJ’s, even though this compilation is digitally mixed, the work that goes into it by figuring out which song goes where, and having a good enough musical ear to know which songs to pick. I mean, Sasha and Digweed got a hold of a lot of these tracks before they were ever released to the public. East and West coast will always be the pinnacle of which other DJ sets and complications will never hold a candle to.
The mix for like 15 mins is just absolutely perfection. Goosebumps every time I listen to it. Used to blast it in the car and surround sound. Christ. Absolute belter. Sasha and digweed. Untouchable
Definitely one of the all time greatest trance mixes ever compiled. They were the first to expose the trance scene to North America....hence Northern Exposure. I even remember seeing Sasha in San Francisco for only $5 cover. No one knew who they were. Sasha & Digweed were always a pair. If Sasha is reading this, I was the one that gave him these Japanese cookies in WMC in Miami in 1999 / 2000 where he was spinning at a small club hosted by Spundae. Those were the memorable days for sure.
wow dude. I've seen these guys when they were in the early 90's. No names then. You listen to these northern exposures and it's like no other mixes. Music these days have no depth like they did then.
Nickster - are you still around or faded away as an old raver? LOLIf you were at the Midway on Dec 29th 2017 - the pair were there and rocked the house down.
NE2 is something very, very special. Dark yet exuberant, melancholic yet uplifting. Complex and beautiful. Was at the Sasha and Diggers NE2 night at Sugar Shack in Middlesbrough UK back in the late nineties. What a night that was. Danced like a maniac!
Everyone always bangs on about Eastcoast being a-number 1 and all that jazz, but Westcoast is a monster and just as good in my opinion. Harder and darker but no less good!
Nah...this is The One. The former is a masterpiece, but only with the latter completing it. The East is the intro of the epic journey that transitions into an unbelievable emotional ride that is this disc.
I was lucky enough to attend a northern exsposure night absolutley mindblowing sasha got barricaded in the dj booth by the entire club at the end of the night and played for and extra hour and a half.
I was also privileged to attend northern exposure tour at cream Liverpool in the courtyard before it closed, I was in love next to those bass bins crying and paralysed for majority of night. haha what a night
I've owned this record since 1999 and I must say this disc (also known as the EXPO 2 in the uk double disc edition) is among the most epic stuff ever mixed. Is simply epic, epic and more epic !!! The last half hour is an unbelievable rollercoaster.
Truely beautiful. It's not very often that music can be described as beautiful, but this is one of those rare opportunities. The legendary duo quite simply hand picked the best, highest grade of trance, from the connoisseurs of electronic music, and assembled those tracks into an epic ride of emotions. This is what trance was before it became shit. Before the big guns sold out, before Ibiza turned into scouseland. Oh what could've been..
I bought this CD back in 1998 and listened to it dozens of times before I lost it in 2002. I had all the songs ripped as individual mp3s (big mistake) which I never played because the gaps between the songs were ruining the mix. This is the first time I've heard it since, and what an incredible ride... Thank you friend!
My love Sasha I am impressed about your music creativity for too many years, I learned about this genre because of you. For too many years I’ve been following your journey because you stolen my heart. Thank you very much for all music happiness you have given me. ❤️
For the ones who don’t know and may be discovering for first time, West Coast is compiled and mixed by Digweed. East Coast is Sasha. East coast is just as much a gem
From 15:50 till 53:00, the set absolutely travels you to various feelings.. it is like a soundtrack of your own life situations... this is the magic of that music which we were listening that time and still never gets boring to listen after 2 decades... legendary music times...
28Mins to 45mins. Christ. Have all the Sasha mixes but I think this might be the best of all of them in terms of baseline and build up. I wish I could hear this live with the two of them in a club - full effect. Magic, heaven. This is why I believe the 2 of them are untouchable. Pure genuis. BANGING -
I bought this CD because i had just been to my first rave the night before. Sven Vath was the headliner and he rocked it. Saw his name on this album and now its a huge part of my life. Amazing mix
Still one of most listenable and yet danceable mix compilations out there! it hasn't dated at all and fills me with that same sense of nervous excitement I used to get as we were doing our regular weekend drive to the Zap Club in Brighton back in the day :) Happy times indeed!
Diggers dj'ed in Newquay one Wednesday evening and the warm up dj for the club, brought him to a mates restaurant the following day for some food. Not long after, my mate (who's restaurant it was) received 3 VIP guest passes for the Launch night of NE 2 at Ministry. He invited me. Pretty cool night. I remember Sasha sticking Armin on as the last tune. I still have the guest pass in my drawer. Diggers wondered out to the dancefloor to greet my mate. How cool.
3rd man - solar cycle is one of the best acid tracks ever created. so deep and dark. it's placement in this mix makes it so much better than the song by itself

AH I still have this on CD it has traveled with me round the world & back. I have enlightened many a hotel & poolside with this mix. It also spent a lot of its life inside my Fiat Uno Turbo I owned in the mid to late 90's. Big stereo big sounds big fun!
My favourite dance music mix cd I ever purchased. The opening track is just awesome and the 41 minute mark track is one of the best hands-in-the-air atmospheric euphoric build ups ever. Ahhh the 1990s...
Man I haven’t listened to this in a long time. That first track brings back so many memories and wow the last half of this mix is absolutely stunning. 😍😍😍

So so so true.
This mix packs a real punch. Emotionally physically and sensationally, all of it. Totally incredible.
Take me back!!
"stereo" type hahaha like an audio stereo 😂

In 2024 this is still the best DJ compilation ever made.
This is the music played as you arrive in heaven.
Well said my man respect where due👌
This is true ...I was there once...
I really hope so !
That mix of LSG into Taucher still haunts me to this day !!!
cant tell you how many times i played that part. i was 15 in 97' and just discovering my love of the rave scene
Hell yeah
The mix for like 15 mins is just absolutely perfection. Goosebumps every time I listen to it. Used to blast it in the car and surround sound. Christ. Absolute belter. Sasha and digweed. Untouchable
❤ Legendary set...🎉...and still banging in 2024 ❤for the love of music 🎶

They're completely different and both awesome - while I would love to hear both on a club system, this is the one I'd love to hear again in Twilo.
Westcoast is still played till this day ❤️
Each one of East Coast’s tracks are sick all by themselves. None of them need a build up or transition.
Digweed mixes are their own genre.

Not at all
Nope!
Nope probably on my 2000th playthrough right now..
Nope. It’s righteous.
Keep going, it’s worth it.
INCREDIBLE! I just don't understand how both these mixes passes me by for so long... but better late than never 🙂

That's incorrect, everyone seemed to assume they did one each, but they actually did both sides together, I asked Sasha myself to confirm.
This is Godly, I honest can't understand how something so beautiful was created. Only through some sort divinity
39.47... one of the greatest mix of two tracks ever!!!!
Has their ever been a better electronic album ever made. 16 years on it still blows me away.
I'm pretty set on the 1st Northern Exposure albums... But your argument is definitely a valid one, lol. Peace
Was at the Northern Exposure vol 2 tour @ Rhumba Club, Icefactory, Perth, Scotland.

a masterpiece i ve heard it like1000 times and i still love this......Sasha & Digweed respect
Those intro organ keys will stay with me for life.
One of my favourite mixes of all time. I don't listen to trance anymore, but when I do...
Roger Raigosa House was around a long time before this bro.
niceprince but this ain't house...
Not trance dude:)
andrea apostolou this sound was actually called trance at the time it was made.
Marios Mavros I never said it was...
what a tune Netherworld was...in every version...for me the best track of all times...this hypnotic main sound is unreachable till today.
Speedy J and Humate at their best.
