Something New and Exciting, Part 1

  • A few days before Christmas my serger died. I was trying to make gifts for my family and was so upset that this happened. I tried for two days to get it working, looking things up and trying all the different suggestions aside from taking it apart. In my attempts at fixing it, I discovered a part was slightly bent, the needles were hitting that part, and I'm sure there were other issues. I've had this serger for a while now and knew it would cost more to get it fixed than the serger had when my husband purchased it for me. I was feeling super bummed, but I figured I'd wait and get a new one in 2024. I had been messaging Natalie from Sew HungryHippie during this time (as well as some other sewing friends) because I knew they'd understand my frustration, and I was also hoping someone might have a suggestion for a fix that I didn't think of. During my conversations with Natalie she mentioned purchasing one for me. I told her no, no way, she did not need to. Well, she went behind my back and purchased me a brand new serger, even had it shipped to me. It was a gift from her and Romel. I was shocked when I opened my email and saw she had done this. I was in tears. She knows I use my serger a lot, so I need to replace it, but she didn't just get me any serger; she got me the one you'll see in this video. I'm still in shock and disbelief. I can never express my gratitude. Not only is Natalie (Romel too) an awesome employer, but she is an even better friend. How she is on her lives, is really who she is, there's no faking (I also got to see this in person this past summer). She takes care of the people she cares about; she has a big heart! I'm so lucky to have Natalie in my life and call her my friend. I know I work for her, but there's not a single day that I feel like I'm "working"; it is just fun because of how she is.
This world is honestly a better place because she's in it! ❤️
Thank you Natalie and Romel doesn't seem to be enough to express my gratitude! This gift is something I never expected. This means so much to me and I will never forget this gesture! ❤️🤗🥰
I will be getting a lot of use out of this serger. The ease of use makes me excited to make more garments this year. The stitches are so perfect and beautiful. Best of all, it took me no time to get the tensions all right.
Also, thank you to my son, who filmed this for me with my phone so I could get closer views of the machine. He's always such a huge help for these kinds of things! 😊 I apologize if parts are a bit shaky.

Yes, I saw those as I was filming. I was so focused on the machine and features, that I didn't see it right away.
And thank you very much! 😊 ❤️

The wire is for feeding heavy threads like Woolley nylon for example through the loopers.

Yes, I had read about this after I did this little video. I filmed a part 2, showing how to thread with the air threading. I'm going to eventually film another showing how to use the wire. 😃

My son had seen them while he was recording, so if I hadn't noticed them, he would have told me. 😃

I have same serger! Easy to use. I use mainly for garments...knits and edge finishing.

I can't wait to make all my garments on this one. First though, I need to finish my Christmas gifts I couldn't make. 😃

I had it down to janome or Juki. But my favorite local fabric store (40 mins away) sells janome. It was on sale, cheaper than the Amazon price. My dad went halvsies cuz it’s my birthday month 🎁🎉 I understand it’s top of the line just before the air threaders. But allegedly easier to thread than most others.
