Great video. I’m going over some cracks in a house that has over grown vines all around house. If I scrape it off down to the mesh can I just fill it with the dry it and so how it looks. I’m painting the whole house after repair. I don’t have much experience with stucco but I’ve done masonry work before. Any advice you can give me to make it go smooth

Does your stucco look like the wall I was working on kind of smooth looking type of stucco? This dry vit stucco works great if you're not putting on a lot to fill up large cracks per se as the first coat will sag a bit & you just need to watch it as it's drying to reposition before drying. It's kind of designed to put on like a finish coat over existing scratch coat like. If you want to fill up bigger/deeper areas you can get a stucco patch stuff at the store & fill your big areas then you can go over that with the dry vit as a thought. Or if you get the dry vit I'm not sure how big of a bucket of dry vit you have to get but if you have to get a 5 gallon bucket then use it & do 2 coats as a thought.

Let me know how it goes.....if you have some paint that matches your house stucco then take that with you to the store so they can see what color it is & they should be able to put the color in the dry vit. Or....you can put the dry vit on then paint over it if you know what the color is to your existing stucco....

@@videojoeshows it’s more like a popcorn texture. A lot of it aren’t gonna be big cracks from where the vines grew in between the Dryvit siding. Other spots are going to be probably 4“ x 12“ roughly from where I have to scrape off the vines that grew behind it. I’m just wondering if I need to put a basecoat of something before I put the Dryvit on it. And also, what’s the best way to get that popcorn texture? It’s almost as if somebody sprayed it off like a hopper

@@proschoicepaintingallengla8439 Yes the texture you have is kind of like a skip trowel texture you would see on drywall. Not sure how you will do that but if you had the dry vit you could put that on in different spots then knock it down to try to mimic what you have. I would just try to do the best you can & a patch is a patch is a patch! Or....you could call a stucco guy out & he will probably charge you a couple hundred bucks or more & it still might not match exactly. I would think if you just got the patch area nice & clean then the dry vit should stick.
