This is her first vid like this and she is the most genuine celebrity I have seen! All of this is so genuine, I came here cuz I saw Kat's face, but now I have such a deeep respect and love for her.

      I mean this is the real hair journey for many black girls and women or mixed girls and women. Personally, I was blessed to be raised by my black mom who knew and understood how to do my hair which is 4C curl pattern through time, effort, knowledge, and the legacy of life skills my grandmother passed to her. Even that wasn’t enough just in my immediate family all our hair textures are so different even though we’ve had similar hair struggles. But the pride we have through our hair by loving it, accepting it, growing with it, and working with it is priceless. It’s a everyday process and sometimes you have those bad days where you wrap it put it in a bonnet and call it a day. Lol. I’m glad she showed this side of her, I never thought to think during Vampire Dairies she was using sew ins and wigs (it makes sense) but in my opinion her natural hair is beautiful and makes her look younger.

      I have no idea if this is weird to say to strangers on TH-cam comments but imma say it anyway 😂 I’m so proud of y’all for not letting society erase and suppress your natural beauty.
      My aunts recently embraced their natural hair and it was so empowering to see. I was once embarrassed about my Jamaican heritage but, especially over the past few months with BLM, I have become so proud of my heritage and I really hope that this movement will truly change the world for good so black people and all ethnic minorities can flourish and be their true, authentic selves. I don’t think she’s crying over hair, but moreover, identity. To come out and embrace your hair, especially when it’s not accepted in society, is an emotional process. It’s accepting yourself, and it’s saying you don’t care what others say anymore. She’s taking care of herself and her hair; that’s what it’s about.

      Lmao hair is not accepted in society😂? Please. It’s 2023. The fact tht privileged Americans cry and whine about hair and call it oppression is baffling to me. Americans are ao out of touch with the rest of the world. While yall are offended because a white person wore braids but called them french braids over box braids, there are people starving and dying. While yall cry because a stranger on the street accidentally used the wrong pronoun, there are children being sold into slavery. People are opressed all over the world. Kat Graham is not one of those people. Get over yourselves.

      I'm white and finally, 2 years ago I stopped straightening my hair. Ignore my profile pic haha that was back in 2010 when I straightened every single day. When I stopped straightening, I notice all my defined curls were gone. I was shocked to find how upset this made me. All my life I was told that straight hair is the most beautiful...every girl I knew straightened their hair. After a few months of not straightening my hair and not blow drying it, all my curls returned. I comb it with leave in conditioner after I shower and let it air dry. I love and appreciate my natural curls. All my white friends straighten their curly hair but one. My hair is so much thicker. I live in Florida with extreme humidity. My curly hair loves humidity haha makes it more curly. Embrace your curly hair. Curly hair is beautiful and don't let anyone tell you different!

      Yass girl. I'm black, but I'm also Syrian/Indian. And it's hard enough putting my hair in one. That's why I love having someone cornrowing, plaiting and styling my hair for school/events(But I can also comb my hair but it's really long and have so much body). I was born and am living in Jamaica and it's so hard finding products that are good for my hair type,so I experiment ALOT, all of my siblings have different hair types. My older sisters hair is more afro, and a bit curly(kinda like 3c), she couldn't manage it so she choose to cream it🤣. My mom is Syrian/Chinese so her hair is wavy,have body and really long. Also, guys try onion, coconut oil, eggs and avocado in your hair, it's great and healthy

Journal your hair care, step by step with the products you use. Try to use the same products, in the same order for a month. I know you’ve heard it a million times, and I am honestly still trying to find the right balance, but water is the most important ingredient to your healthcare. I cried with her. Being “alone” with your natural hair can be overwhelming even for black women who are use to taking care of and managing their own hair, but for someone who has never had to face or deal with it themselves, to do it for the first time and realize you will be ok is very emotional. Kat is beautiful and I hate that she was treated so poorly on TVD. She didn’t deserve how they treated her and I hope she is happier than she has ever been.🥰

    OH MY. This is why I ALWAYS say: hair is not just “hair”. I hate that most people minimize the fact that your hair is a big thing, it really matters. When people with a “softer” usually straight texture aka the one everybody want you to believe is the “best one” say that I shouldn’t worry about my hair I just wanna cry cause they don't know the EFFORT it takes for me to accept my natural hair when there’s a whole world telling me that I should change it’s natural way or how I treat it/style it. Quarantine was game changer for me, like everybody, I had to deal with my hair by myself. Since I was 6 my mom straightened my hair EVERY WEEK. Hence why I thought that was my destiny, to keep on straightening it till I die. Which is sad af cause once It gets wet (like every time I went to the beach) I just didn’t know what to do, literally. I've felt SO bad when i see how other girls just "do nothing" and their hair looks “good” while I have to struggle to feel ok, I stopped taking pictures of myself cause of it. And a friend of mine, when I was in high school made a joke about my hair that till this very day I haven't forget. I couldn’t handle it. So 2 months ago I made my mind up and decided that I can grow and rock my natural hair. Saddest part is that my fam don’t agree with it cause they think I’m gonna look “different”. I’m gonna prove them “different” and natural are beautiful as well.

      @Amanda-hq9of 4 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      good for you!! just keep with it! it’s a long haul to grow out the damage, learn to care for it properly and put effort into it, that it’s easy to just quit and start straightening it again, but who wants to look like everybody else? it’s overrated.
      I’m sorry you don’t have support! And I think some people don’t realize how long lasting their words can be, because they forget probably just as quickly as they said it but the one it’s directed to carries it with them long after. Just try to rationalize that it was probably more about her own insecurities than anything about you and keep doing you, girl!

    To all the interracial parents out there especially those who have biracial kids with a black person please try to learn how to do kinky hair. It is important for your child to grow up learning about their hair. So they won't have to go a lifetime depending on someone else to know how to because at the end of the day those people won't always be around. That part of this video spoke volumes to me. Kinky hair isn't a "societal beauty norm" here in America but it is BEAUTIFUL and if you learn how to take care of it it will in turn flourish. You'll be fine Kat!

How would you expect young girls to grow up in that society and then easily accept an attribute that they’ve been conditioned to loathe??
