This song is from a narrators point of view. Him and Adam are in love, but obviously, their love is a "sin". He's reassuring Adam that their love is true, however must be kept in secret. He also is reassuring Adam that, even though life is often a struggle, it is worth it and God loves them regardless. I think this is a beautiful take on one of my favorite stories in the bible, because it shows that god and homosexuality can coesxist : )

The meaning I hear out of this is Adam, and men (the writer) are the same in a few ways. The secret is that we are scared as men. Adam was the first man.. so he is the root of all of us. We cant let it out because it will scare who looks up to us. Look at Mike Tyson for example, the seemingly fearless man.. As he got older he recognized it was fear that drove him to be who he was. The instinct of fear that can drive us to greatness.. or tear us apart. In some cases both. Causing Sin or Strength, either way we are understood and Our Father(a good father) loves us no matter what. The blind ones calling our love sin.. People who don't love themselves usually see people that do love themselves "fake " or like to talk about the wrong things they do.. Because they seemingly love themselves too much. Or they are Selfish, but its not selfish to win the struggle with fear. Its brave. They see it differently.. They are blind. The strength doesn't always come, but noticing Eve in the garden.. crying, brings courage. Being scared and doing it anyways is strength.. Not being fearless, that's stupid. Adam lies in Gods shadow, men lay in Adams shadow. Giving into the flames and high emotions and being consumed by them. As he too, ate the forbidden fruit. It seems easier sometimes to give in to the fear.. as he ate the fruit he understood WRONG things. Giving the knowledge of good and evil.. Being the foreshadow of every Mans future. The struggle between good and evil. Some grow weak in the anger. Few go weak in the pain. Which one is holy? or Sane? Not sure but we need to tell ourselves to tend to Eve in the garden no matter what. Our father loves us. Hes the example.. So we choose love.
