That's a great idea for students, build a kit, that would give them a great chance to get "hands on" with their instruments and really learn what goes into them.
Excellent job, hats off to your student . Clearly the pickups on the custom are better but not 2000 pounds better. I was a lead guitarist back in the 80s and l played Ibanez Roadster 2 guitars 🎸, they were cheap stratocasters but worked perfectly with a few personal tweaks. The video proves 98% of your sound is in YOUR HANDS. Sounds great, well played Glen and Well Done Student.
Love this vid. The Custom shop sounds like it has a little more "...something" to it. But I'm also confident I'd convince myself it had something extra even if it didn't lol. In my experience there is just a little more clarity w/ the nicer pickups...but at the same time, nobody will notice when it's not the focus.
There is 2 schools of thought 1 guitar and pickup companies rip us off and 2 you get what you pay for more expensive means better I have a Gibson and a epiphone I had no issues with my gib son had to take epiphone to luthier for fret issues I think it depends on expectations s . In terms of tone the biggest component that will change your sound is different speakers take care my friends
Can't say anything about the playability pf the guitar, but the sound just needs a little more low mid on the amp., for the gain to be pushed a bit, and you'd probably have a 99% match.
That tone is what thousands of people chase. Proof that it’s in the playing and the hands

Sounds pretty good. I find adjusting the pickup heights ever so slightly can make a massive impact!
Sounds pretty good. Some awesome SRV licks. Love the beach hut paint job. I'd have left the Fender logo off and put a Gibson one on just for a laugh.
Sounds perfect. Thank you master👍

Its not about the guitar, its about the player! A great player can make a mediocre guitar sound good. Nice video

The way you just dropped that 62' ... 🤣🤣
That's how you get an authentic relic hahaha

Sounds good enough to me! I like the finish. Always thought that monocolor are sunbursts guitars are classic but they are so boring sometimes.
