THAT STONEWALL IS WONDERFUL, THAT DOG IS ADORABLE AND IT LOOKS A DREAM WHERE YOU ARE LIVING
Agreed!!!!
Well done with the stone wall. And to have raised 5k for the dog shelter is amazing.
The companionship of a dog is too often underrated.
Put a large bottle lid and fill with beer out and your slugs will go to it and drown.
I am so happy for Vongola, he now has a peacefull life and full of your love 🤗 your wall is great
I had a Labrador that suffered from very bad ear infections, constantly. When the antibiotics failed to cure the infection the vet suggested changing his diet as he may be allergic to the grains in his food. We changed his food from a regular brand to one that was made of oats and duck. The infection cleared up almost immediately. Something to consider.
Indeed I'm also looking at his diet!
You are making that Land become a Pinterest Picture of hard work resulting in an accomplishment of Health and Beauty.
You have improved that Land so much.
You make me look within and see where I can improve in my area of influence.
Thank you for your videos and your time to create them. They are appreciated.
Its interesting how my plans for the property keep morphing, im so curiousto see how.it willl9ok in 4 years from now
@@WildSheGoes I have a feeling how it will look. Beautiful, Crafty, Relaxing, and Love of Home.
A House is just a house until you make it into your own.
@@WildSheGoes Oh, I was thinking about your slug problem. If they are the small variety, you can begin to feed birds in the area you throw the slugs, They will get used to eating the slugs after they find out they can eat them.
It will take longer to control them this way, but once the birds understand, they will take care of your problem naturally, and you get the benefit of extra seed droppings, Bird Songs in the morning and evening, feathers to be a part of some kind of creation, and they also include other insects into their diet to help you control them naturally.
I used to have chickens for my gardens, they helped a lot and gave me eggs. The extra eggs I sold to my neighbors helped in the purchase of their grain feed.
As someone else has said, beer traps are great for slugs. Also, coffee grounds are meant to deter them, plus they feed the soil.
Finally, if you really struggle with them, see if you can get some nematodes to water into the soil. Nematodes are small worms that eat slugs and their eggs (and do no harm to anything else), so as an organic solution, they are great.
I've used nematodes for the first time this year in the UK (it's been VERY wet for the last few months), and they seem to be doing the trick!
Was also going to suggest this. They love beer.
Well done on raising money for the dogs and on your beautiful stone wall! Your dog is looking so calm and happy too :D X
It's just one of them years for slugs, same in UK. Your life there looks so peaceful. Please give your beautiful pup a hug from me.
Will do!
Same thing in France for the slugs ! Can’t seem to get rid of them 🥲
Hi Marina…missed the video about finding ‘Vongole’… and those heroic people trying to care for those dogs.. with insufficient funds from government!!… Heartbreaking…Made me cry with sad and anger tears!!…😩🤬…This problem is in many countries, including the UK…though hopefully less severe… but still a cruelty issue !!! This video … shows how truly ‘Happy as a Clam’ you have made Vongole, now ❤️💕….You are clearly devoted to each other…and his Life is now filled with Love and freedom and Joy…and will wipe away any memory of previous circumstances….Animals…are so totally forgiving beings…and he has already responded to your love for him… it’s in his eyes!!…. And you honoured him with that most special ‘Collar’… more than any words can say …🥲🥲😍….Happy to see you extending the vegetable growing area this year…excellent!… using your usual hay method…very wise… we should all try to grow at least some food of our own… even in the smallest of places…very important skill …is gardening…. and rewarding and healthy (I grow salad crops and veggies … beans potatoes. etc etc… and some fruit bushes too…. In my own small way..(learnt from a childhood living in the countryside)… Noticed that Vongole, was trying to help??… and rather liked sleeping on top of the hay in the potato patch 🫠💤…dear Boy….Excellent progress with the fund raising for the animal rescue volunteers… Think that more donations will continue….because if your highlighting the help they need…they are already using those donations ‘immediately’!!..👏👏🙏👌…Bravo!!…🐕🦮🐕🦺 💕💕…(apologies for this late and long comment… but just had to show appreciation and support…and joy for Vongole.. in particular!!!…Sue (UK)
Your projects and your joyful demeanor always make a viewer feel good! So nice to see the trust and contentment of your new dog. Lucky boy. The rock wall is very pleasing and natural, and good to see you have mechanical help to move the stones. And who wouldn’t love a rest from their labors in that well placed hammock!
Fabulous wall. Well done. The old boy seems to have settled in well too. Amazing what love and care do.
What a wonderful spring flower display! 🌷And also now clearly the queen of the dry stone wall! 👸🏻 Always so enjoyable to see your videos…😊
what a great stone wall! loved the whole video and especially the fundraiser success and seeing your cute pup. i hope his ear infection is cured soon. 🖤🤍🖤
Such a treat to see your video and how happy you seem with your new pal and your garden, too.
Oh how I miss my funny, furry Bella 🥰
💛💚💙 This is wonderful! You look healthy and amazingly glowing! Your place, with all your lovely bulbs bloomed, is so refreshing and inspiring! I was really depressed today and your video has really uplifted my mental mood--thank you ❤
The stone wall is wonderful! You are very talented lady, all the things you do. And your dog is lovely too!
Thank you!
That’s a great stonewall ! Makes me think of camping in the Lake and Peak District 🤗.
Great video! From USA! My wife & I have watched for awhile now! My wife is 100 percent Italian! We love your dogs! Love your secluded home ! 👍🏻
🤗🤗🤗
Such a positive vibe with you always, we thank you for your energy and lessons in homestead living.
Marina, you out did yourself again! Is there anything you do not excel at? You amaze me 😎
Have you tried a beer trap for slugs? Just bury a glass mostly in the ground, fill will beer. They drown, but don't think they mind so much as they are drunk. 🐌🐌🐌🍺
I have but it only worked the first few days then they stopped going. Now i'm trying to train birds to hunt for them! Let's see if it works
So happy for you and Vongola...a perfect match!
Wowwwwwwwww❤❤❤❤❤As always beautiful transformation ….love the flowers from all your hard work 🙌🙌🙌 and your handsome 4 legged companion …what a blessing 🌅🌻🌻hugs and sunshine from Oz xx
Hey Marine, regarding your slug problem, cut the bottom of a 2ltr plastic bottle, about 15-20cm, sink it into the ground so that the lip of the cut bottle's level with the ground, then half fill with beer. Slugs are highly attracted to beer (Not lager, but ale), so they will crawl over the lip, fall into the bottle, not being able to get back out.
Really enjoy your content, although it's been a little lean of late. Take care, Richard (UK).
I've been using this method of growing potatoes for several years... great results with very little work..and they taste great.
With the price of food and the insanity in the world today it makes more sense than ever to follow the words..
The wisdom of simplicity.
The luxury of efficiency.
As always, best thoughts to you..stay safe.
To rid your garden of slugs try taking shallow tins (like tuna cans) filled with beer. The slugs will drown themselves. You do have to empty and refill every day but the slugs will happily expire in the beer!
spectacular bulb display🌸🌼🌷🌸🌷 , wonderful stone wall 💪🏼⛏️and your dog with you = pure love ❤
🥰🥰🥰
The tiny plants you showed are succulents vs cactus. I find them to be much more friendly than cactus because they won’t hurt you !
Thank you I didn't know!!
Very refreshing to watch you work on things you love and helping other causes as well such as the shelter. 💯Thank you for the upload, it honestly made me smile and feel bliss in today’s hustle and bustle.
I read that eggshells, coffee grounds, diatomaceous earth, beer traps, copper tape, etc. around the plants help keep slugs off. Hope this helps.
Hi!
I am hard of hearing and used to have dogs before. You can teach your dog sign language 🤟🏻 It works really well and you don’t have to yell your lungs out when controlling the dog. Please try and let us know how it goes 🙏🏻
Thank you for your beautiful video.
You do have a little slice of heaven there! 🤗
I love your videos. Try getting some cheap beer and laying it around your gardens in containers. Slugs love it. Leave enough in a can and lay it on its side. The slugs should crawl in. It’s what we do here and it works well.
Yes! Cheap beer in small jar lids works great!!
Love the newcwall. The bulbs you planted last fall look great!Just as you had imagined.
They made a beautiful show in spring!
Great job on the fundraiser.
The flowers in the garden look fantastic Marina. You definitely solved the rock wall puzzle. Take care and don't have any snail nightmares.
It's really good to see you back ❤
The wall looks fantastic! Thank you for bring such a dog lady
I love watching you make dry stone walls
Hi Marina. A great way I have found to repel slugs from my garden is to add coffee grounds or crushed egg shells to the soil or just a scattering.
The stone wall is beautiful. Wonderful job.
Cosmos is one of my favorites. It's practically drought resistant and some varieties grow very tall.
Lovely to see you again. Missed you.❤
A ❤ for the garden and stone wall, a ❤ for the funding for the shelter, and a ❤ for you, for all that you are
Copper mesh fence for slugs and snails. They hate it. Also chickens..they love them!😅
Just watched your video for the first time and have to say, I loved it. You are so confident and happy. Very inspiring…..As for slugs or snails, You might try putting crushed up egg shells around your plants. They don’t like the feel of them as they crawl or whatever they do. Thank you for great videos. ❤
Thank you Cathy!
Love that people donated to such a good cause. I donate monthly to an organisation that builds or renovates hospitals (they just recently finished a new hospital for kids with cancer, named Marie Curie) and when I can, to an animal shelter that is not only for dogs, but cats and farm animals, as well. It's in Calarasi, Romania. And you can go visit/stay and help, even if you're from another country, it's great for Patreon members. They helped me with a cat I found in Bucharest, they even found a new owner in Holand. What do you do with the slugs? I know some can be eaten. Love your content.
Slugs....hollow out the flash on grapefruit turn upside down and place by plants, Slugs are attracted to the grapefruit and in the morning they can be found underneath but they don't eat the plants next to them , thanks for the vlog 🎉🎉🎉
Coffee grounds around the base of your plants deter slugs and snails. Perhaps grow a coffee tree also to supply your grounds 😂
Lovely stone wall.
Wow! The bulb-planting really paid off! So pretty!
For slugs and snails try to use (if you haven't already) coffee grounds. Great job on the wall :)
Delightful video! Very positive in so many ways! PS We found “Peake Pet Care's Soothing Ear Cleaner” really helpful for cleaning up and helping avoid ear infections on previous dog (no connection with the company, just found it works really well)
After a hectic Friday this was a breath of badly needed fresh air, the walls a thing of beauty & the dog looks like it’s been there forever! I hope your cacti work out, thank you 😊
Hello Lovely Marina 👋 Spring is here and you have got a spring in your step now you can do more outside jobs and have a new Best buddy. Have a blessed week 🙏❤️
Im so glad the shelter is able to do so much with the donated funds..such a worthwhile cause to donate too, i will donate again as animals are such wonderful friends & deserve every bit of help going. It breaks my heart to see any animal in distress.
Your boy is wonderful ❤ and he will want for nothing.
As for the slugs/snails copper is your best answer, they truly hate it and wont pass it, in the uk in the cheap shops we have strips of copper rolls, its very cheap but you only get a metre roll, but if you lay it around where you want protecting they wont cross it,ive even glued pennies onto a strip of wood and tha works 😂 if you can find some ole copper pipeline and put that all around your veg borders it will protect them at least.
Love the stone wall aswell, you’ve done so much to that house and it looks fabulous 👌.
Love your journey and just became a Patron on Patreon :-)
🤗🤗🤗 thank you!
I'm constantly impressed at everything you attempt & succeed at. Doing things the traditional way & very organic. Drystone walling is an art xx
Thank you 🥰
Your bulb garden is beautiful, and crushed egg shells around your garden.Slugs and snails don’t like to slither over it.
I identify so much with this. Absolutely lovely
So inspiring, thank you!
I always get the impression you’re hard working and learning new skills marina, do you have enough time to enjoy your labour? You seem so independent it’s impressive ✌️❤️🇬🇧
Technically I do but I'll admit my brain is always thinking about the next project!
❤️The Stone Wall! Would you be willing to show how you plant the cacti/succulents when you get to that point?
❤️The fundraiser, great job!
❤️Your pup!! He is so cute!!
Hi Bobbie, if they dont all die on me I certainly will!
@@WildSheGoes 🤞 they won't die🤗
A saucer of beer will attract them and they drown. Diatomaceous earth dusting will keep pest and slugs away. Dust around on the ground and on the plants. Also there are copper strips available that slugs and snails don’t pass.
You did an amazing job with the wall and flowers. Lovely gardener ❣️👍😺🌺
What a nice area you made with the stonewall and with the trees and plants inside of it(and hammock). Looks very natural as if it always was there👍
The wall with the garden and the hammock is so beautiful!! i love hammocks
Delightful! I love the stone wall with the hammock to curl up in with a good book, Vongola by your side! And wild strawberries! Yumm!😊
Love the stone wall❤️❤️!!
Diatomaceous earth sprinkled around plants to deter slugs (snails is too endearing a word for those nasty varmints) is supposed to work…
Aaw 4paws is adorable and it's clear he is content with you Marina. Love his gardening skills 😁 your garden is looking great, and the bulbs you planted have done well. We call that dry walling in Scotland, its heavy work, well done , its lovely. Well done to you and all who donated, that money will really help in the shelter, amazing. Take care Marina till next time.....Alioban ❤🐕xx
I've heard frogs really help keep slugs down. Building a little pond and getting some tadpoles might help?
I love watching you do all your projects ❤
What a beautiful stone wall! Loving your dog !
🥰
Amazing stone walls, very imoressive! I'm sure you did check, but make sure your sweet potatoes are of the edible variety and not the ornamental kind. They form tubers too, but are not edible.
Gee I loved this Vlog ….WOW what an impressive amount that was raised for the dog shelter 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
The garden looks so wonderful.
BTW same type of weather here in British Columbia………
Nice to see you have another 4 legged permanent companion !
Quite by chance I noticed a wood preservative product here in the UK, I was surprised by its name, from Cornwall I believe, it's called Odie's Oil !
Quite appropriate I thought if you're treating any wood products, done in remembrance of your old friend !!
Best wishes 👍
No way! Need to get a jar of it next time I'm there 🐕
Excited for all the at you are up to on the land! Try hazelnut shells as a mulch border to deter slugs. 😊
Evening Marina, Wow those flowers, what fantastic colours. sure those potatoes will be a delight as previous crops have been. Nice job on the stone wall too, I hope you get lots of plants growing on or around that area too. Great job too on the fund raiser, above and beyond the target which is fantastic achievement well done. Hope you enjoy the spring and the fruits of your hard labour. Health@|Happiness to you.
Thank you John!
Awe! This ended too soon!
That stone wall is looking amazing! I really struggle with slugs too. It's so frustrating seeing everything get nibbled. This year I'm trying to grow everything on as much as possible to plant out big, healthy plants that can get shrug off slug damage, but it's hard finding enough sunny space off the ground for all the pots, and then it's extra work and extra compost to buy too. It's tricky. I have found that cosmos is one of the few things slugs have ignored though and hope it will be the same for you!
Yes yes yes! I relate to everything you said! I also have so many pots around
Everything looks so lovely-wow! Beautiful stone wall!!❤ Hi doggie 🐶!
That knitted dachshund was so cute! 😍 I'd love to see some in your shop if you make any more
They are so fun to make but they take SO long! They would be just too expensive if I gave myself a hourly wage 😓
Nice to see you in full action Marina,❤such a pleasure to follow all your projects, i love them all (Potatoes, Stonewall, Kektees etc. ) the stonewall is little masterpiece it looks awesome ❣Your dog is a very fine lovely fellow, adorable i can feel he is very happy with you !👍😊🙏Thank you for a great video, very nice filming ! ...oh by the way, my garden is invaded by snales, we have too much havy rain this spring, someone mentioned to put cinnamon powder around the plants ? 🤔
VONGOLA ❤❤❤
Oh yeah... I pick slugs out of the garden every night here as well 😂 lovely relaxing video as always ❤
Ten minutes with a torch each night can work wonders 👍
Set out little dishes of beer, snails love it and drown in it.
I've never had a vegetable garden myself, I'd like to have one eventually. Some relatives and friends of mine do and talked to me about it, so I'm amazed at all the ways to get rid of slugs I actually know Lol... I heard about egg shells, coffee grounds, beer, ducks.... scissors (brutal and cruel)... Honestly, I know friends who love animals but started cutting live slugs into two, I'm starting to wonder "how mad and desperate can they get you?!?!" 🤣Apparently no way is enough to get rid of them!! They are undefeatable... Maybe chickens/ducks will be the only solution, but of course, they're a big commitment... Many pets to Vongola ♥
You are so amazing and lovely doing everything yourself ❤as for the snail issue, make a “tea” from tabaco, put it in a spray bottle, stray the stems of the plants, it will keep the snails away and will not hurt the plants:) hope it works🙏🏻unless the snails like to smoke😂🌻💐🌸✨
Then you for this tip!!!
Love your video, Marina, all of it! 😍 I found that fine sawdust that chainsaws make, worked best with the slugs. My carrot seedlings were finally left alone! 👌😃
Great tip!!
Wall looks terrific
Beautiful wall. I share your love for building them too.
You are a lovely and you have built a lovely place... Thanks for sharing ❤❤
Snails need moistness, so they love the straw, fallen leaves, anything they can go under to and hide from the sun and dryness... I've learned firsthand that ants really hate cayenne pepper powder (must be changed pretty often, depending on the weather), suppose so do snails and slugs. I mean it must be unpleasant for them too.
The environment you are creating is very very lovely 💚💚💚
I think your stone wall rivals the one Hadrian built in England! 😉😊
😂🥰
i heard free range chickens take care of all the snails
And ducks are voracious slug eaters
Your flowers are looking really pretty !
Your garden is looking absolutely fabulous❤ ❤❤
Often I get irritated when YTrs play music too loud and/or over their talks so … it’s irritating.
BUT! Your music selection & volume is always just perfect :-)
Susanne from California
Awww thank you I'm pleased!
I was so happy when I saw this video in my feed ☺ I was wondering how the stone wall project is going!
🤗🥰🤗
yay for finding new plants to try :) and propagation success
Realität great project! I love your stone wall!❤
