Amen to that - its hard to knock watching this as it has its own unique vibe but let's acknowledge out of love for new fans to point them to the apex vid he ever did..
Agreed. Far better performance. TNT is missing out on the greatest performance ever. El Mocambo is the best. This performance pales in comparison . Still good because Stevie Ray didn't play bad music.
So much better en emotional if you searching on this song it says at the el mocambo hoe come to this one..? Please do this song another time on the el mocambo
So glad you did more Stevie. Though it is the same song, to really get why SRV is considered by many many to be the greatest, "Texas Flood - Live at El Mocambo" is maybe the best guitar performance by any player ever recorded. Definitely consider checking it out. Or "Life Without You - Live at Capital Theater" if you want a different flavor, also "Lenny" or "Little Wing" both from El Mocambo live are awesome next vids to check. You all have a great chemistry and feel for music - great channel!
That's Stevie's older brother Jimmy Vaughn (The Fabulous Thunderbirds) on the white Strat backing Stevie up - especially when Stevie broke a string and his guitar Tech brought out a backup axe mid solo. If anybody was ever born to play guitar, it was Stevie. And he put the blues in the spotlight for a new generation. RIP SRV.
SRV almost single handed brought the Blues back into the mainstream. He always respected those who preceded him. One time BB King was scheduled to open for Stevie and Double Trouble which he didn't know before hand. He immediately told them BB would not be opening for him because he had such respect for him and many others who came before him. He actually started some kind of foundation to help older or less recognized blues musicians to give them a bigger spotlight and for them to get paid what they were worth. SRV was even a better man than his guitar playing and he was my favorite performer ever. I suggest Life Without You written for his friend Charley Wirz who died of a heart attack and helped him design his guitars. please take the one from the Capitol theater in Passaic. It's a beautiful vocal, solo and message. You won't be disappointed.
We still celebrate his birthday, every year in Dallas Texas, im. From El Paso my self, but this mannwas truly " GIFTED ", .. TREAT YOURSELF TO SOME " JEFF HEALEY "
The Greatest of all time! "Life without you" is another classic. Check out Jeff Healey to. He was blind, and can play like nobody's business. Check out Jeff's song "See the light" Stevie Ray discovered Jeff. And they played together on the other hit by Stevie "Little Sister" that was epic.
Stevie's version of Look at Little Sister , should be reacted to first. Stevie Ray and Reese tear it up. Then, when Stevie Ray brings in Jeff Healey, in the other performance, it's about Stevie allowing Jeff to shine. Both versions are great, and both versions deserve a reaction from TNT. 💯💣💥🥳
Thanks, kids - this is awesome - I like his voice best in this version, (and cool how he breaks a string & just doesn't miss a note) but the "Live at El Mocambo" version of this song is even better for guitar... appreciate you guys!
I was one of the lucky ones, I got to see Stevie and Double Trouble live in 85 on his Couldn't Stop The Weather Tour and in 89 on his In Step Tour. You really had to see him to experience the greatness.
Girl, you are right. Stevie gave you every bit of what he had to give. The fact that you understood and acknowledged it was so heart warm. Stevie Ray was one of the greatest that every played on this earth. Thank you for being so welcoming to Stevie.
_"Riviera Paradise"_ for something more jazzy and chill. "Rude Mood" for something faster. "Tin Pan Alley" w/ Johnny Copeland, for a slow-burning blues staple. Another great blues band, but in their prime and touring today, is the Tedeschi Trucks Band. Susan Tedeschi has a delicious, whiskey-and-honey, blues voice -- and plays a mean guitar. Her husband, Derek Trucks, pretty much grew up playing guitar for The Allman Brothers Band.
Saw Stevie Ray in NYC and to this day it was one of the best live performances I’ve ever been to (and I’ve been to a ton of shows). The man’s electricity and stage presence was next level. IMO SRV is the GOAT and it’s not even up for debate. RIP Stevie Ray!
From what I remember when I was younger is that Stevie didn't sing in the beginning of his career, he didn't think his voice was good enough, but when he did start singing, he was great.
I'd highly recommend you guys to check out his performance of Lenny live at El Mocambo, it's an amazing instrumental piece that he wrote for his wife and his performance of it at El Mocambo is definitely the best version of the song. Keep up the great work y'all.
Best concert I ever went to was Stevie Ray Vaughn about a Mont before he passed, his opening acts were Dr.John and Joe Cocker,Stevie was on stage for over three hours. He is the GOAT
Another great reaction TnT!! Perfect commentary on how and why blues music moves us so much. SRV helped to bring blues music to a wider audience where it has enjoyed a deserved resurgence in popularity. Bravo! 👏
"Texas Flood" SRV's answer and tribute to Hendrix's "Red House". For a long time Willie the Wimp and Cold Shot were my favorite Stevie Ray Vaughan songs off the Live Alive album. All these years later I think they're all my favorites. I was very fortunate to get to see a Stevie Ray Vaughan concert one time.
Love your reactions to my Stevie!!! Here’s a few more must sees: “Tin Pan Alley” with Stevie Ray and Johnny Copeland, “Mary Had a Little Lamb” from Austin, 1989, and “Lenny” and “Little Wing” from El Macombo!! You will be so overwhelmed with feels. Donna G❤️
Thank you so much for sharing this and reviewing it with the respect it deserves. If you would like suggestions for other great performances by this master of the blues guitar, I'd be glad to recommend "Tin Pan Alley," "Crossfire," and "Life Without You."
They just made me realize that it must be totally different performing now. Before the lights were so hot. But now, with LED's that's not an issue. What a plus for musicians.
He also played with the great " B.B.KING", those two playing together ,was like listening to lighting cracking, and smooth, as ,,well u know, it was awesome...
That was excellent, y’all. You’re right: it is dying out, there is a history lesson there, and Stevie is a master who can show how it should be played. That was his brother Jimmie, who is still playing today with ZZ TOP, Eric Clapton, etc. on stage with him on rhythm guitar, and Albert Collins, the “Master of the Telecaster”, who introduced him. Thank you for this. There is a video in existence of Stevie and Jimmie playing on the same guitar, which I was blessed to see in person. I also twice saw him play with B.B. King. Memories. th-cam.com/video/Jhfr7sjLcJg/w-d-xo.html
The blues like Jimmy Reed,Little Walter,,Memphis Slim,Hound Dog Walker,Slim Harpo,Sonny Boy Williamson are the blues man that this 80 year old white guy use to listen to back in 50s/60s along with Rock And Roll and Rockabilly Thank you both for keeping the music alive
If you guys really want to know who he is and how he became The Goat!! His and his brothers documentary is on TH-cam. You won't be disappointed!! He loved the Blues, and the blues legends, Albert King, B.B. King and the rest of the blues greats. They loved him to. Stevie is a legend here in Dallas where he lived. He is so missed. RIP Stevie Ray Vaughan❤
I saw SRV at the Oakland Coliseum Arena shortly before he died. Carlos Santana, who lives in the San Francisco Bay Area, popped in to play with Stevie.
Tasha, you were cracking me up with your comments on this reaction. Been watching you two for a minute cause both of you always bring a smile to my face. Yes, SRV.... what can you say about him that hasn't already been said. Eric Clapton said he is glad he never had to follow his act on stage (Paraphrased). SRV was one with that guitar, the music just flowed effortlessly thru him. What a show to see in his performances. Next up for you is "Leave My Little Girl Alone". Great reaction guys, TY.
Stevie Ray played with BB King, and BB said Stevie Ray was the "blackest white man" he'd ever seen!!💙 Y'all should watch Stevie Ray play with guitarist Jeff Healy doing the song "Look At Little Sister". Jeff is blind, but it NEVER let it slow him down!! SRV was a mentor to Jeff, and it showed!!💙🎶💙🎶
The man who introduced Stevie is another one of the greatest Blues performers also... Albert Collins. He was another Texas Blues man who influenced Stevie a great deal. But Stevie's biggest influence ever was the second guitar player standing behind him, in the sparkly gold jacket... That's his older brother, Jimmy Vaughan who played with another FANTASTIC Blues band called The Fabulous Thunderbirds!!! Definitely worth the price of admission!!!
It always a joy to watch people discover this amazing talent SRV a man born to play guitar and dazzle as with this skill, taken all to soon in a helicopter crash, ruled by the FAA as pilot era.
Gospel, Rythom and Blues sprang R&Roll. It has developed beyond that, over the years and in the 80's we saw it mutate further. Then the 90's, 2000nds, till today. Still stretching the boundaries. We have lost touch with the founding sounds but still enjoy listening to the oldies, if one allows themselves to take the time and journey through the catalogue of music and artists of yesteryear. We are so fortunate to have these recordings to reflect on. Great reaction. Keep up the good work. Take care.
Hadn't seen this version of "TF" (just the El Mocambo live) and many thanks for selecting it to highlight. All the boys in the band are duded up for this event; first time seeing them in their best clothes! SRV's voice is super strong; maybe it's the microphone and sound equipment, but he's putting so much more into this vocal performance than I've seen to date. A wonderful reaction vid; obviously heartfelt and totally genuine!
I remember seeing him in concert in 1989 (Austin City Lights, you can easily find it on YT). I just remember being so shocked when he died in the helicopter crash.
I was fortunate to have seen him just before he passed his opening acts were Dr John and the remarkable Joe Cocker. It was a 5 hour performance and super great
You're so right Tasha. The good news is that there are genre revival groups like The Squirrel Nut Zippers (traditional bluesy jazz) and J.D. McPherson (Rockabilly). Check out his North Side Gal, Oh Carol (cover of The Chuck Berry classic) and his modern Christmas classic - Twinkle (Little Christmas Lights.) He even records on vintage equipment.
I just wanted to let you know, I love watching reaction videos. And I think you guys are the 👌 best. Love to watch & listen to your country ones. Keep up the good work. Awesome.
Always do SRV live! My only complaint is y’all didn’t do the live performance of this song at El Mocambo. But even his lesser versions of any live performances are better than most others best! Do yourselves a favor and watch the El Mocambo version on your own. It’ll blow your minds!
GOAT! I got a n electric guitar and amp for Christmas when I was 15. I bought a book of Tablature of Led Zeepplin and learned the wrong way to pay every song. Then I heard SRV and I said, he didn't learn from a book! He feels it!
I saw SRV in college with Robert Cray who was also a great guitarist in his own right. Hard to believe that was like 30 + years ago. Makes one feel old.
Ooh, SRV is a deep well. Find a live recording of "Couldn't Stand The Weather." Stevie laying down the Texas funk. And yeah, blues and gospel are first cousins. They grew up together. I remember an interview with a blues guitarist who said his first two influences were a country minister who played at church, and the local dude who played "sh*t that made folks wanna f*ck" at the juke joint, that his mama would whoop him for hanging out with on the street corner, LOL. Same music, same licks, same soul, same instrument, different lyrics.
What is so sweet - and painful - about this performance is the way big brother Jimmy is there to catch SRV when he breaks a string. Jimmy would have caught SRV a billion times over on that mountain if he could have. RIP.
I saw SRV twice in concert. The first time near Austin, Texas at the Farm Aid Concert, July 4, 1986 and his final concert at Alpine Valley Music Theater near Lake Geneva, Wisconsin on August 26, 1990. The line ups at both concerts were great... John Mellencamp, Tom Petty, Steppenwolf, Joe Walsh, Neil Young (to name just a few at Farm Aid) and Eric Clapton, Robert Cray and Buddy Guy in Wisconsin... Despite all those great great bands and musicians...I went to see SRV...
And then he plays it behind his back..... 😮...... I'm in the UK, blues has been in my life for 40yrs, my parents jazz records, my mispent youth(Sweet, Rubettes , Mud) punk like the Clash etc... always there....
First I wanna say thanx for your SRV reaction. You should check Stevie Ray´s amazing solo performance at MTV Unplugged in January 30(my birthday btw) 1990 playing his 12 string guitar. It feels wierd thou thinking about that we so sadly lost him seven months later in that tragic chopper accident.
The live at El Mocambo performance is even better. Another one you must see is his performance of “Lenny” also from El Mocambo
Amen to that - its hard to knock watching this as it has its own unique vibe but let's acknowledge out of love for new fans to point them to the apex vid he ever did..

I just read this after leaving a comment. Guess what I put a link to?
I second the suggestion of "Life Without You" at the Capital Theater. Not just a great performance, but emotional, too.
That's Stevie's older brother Jimmy Vaughn (The Fabulous Thunderbirds) on the white Strat backing Stevie up - especially when Stevie broke a string and his guitar Tech brought out a backup axe mid solo. This is great but you should see Texas Flood at Mocambo. This isn't even close.
The guy in the gold shiny jacket is Stevie's brother, Jimmie Vaughn. A great guitarist in his own right.
The man came and made his mark and left us his gift to enjoy. Thanks SRV and Double Trouble.
Guy catching the Holy Ghost!! As a 62yr old Baptist preacher, you made my week!!!
Saw Stevie back in 86 picked my jaw off the floor several times GOAT period.

This was at a presidential inauguration party. You REALLY need to check out his version of this song live at El Mocambo!
I was fortunate enough to see him play about 6 weeks before he was taken from us. Just amazing.
I'd highly recommend you guys to check out his performance of Lenny live at El Mocambo, it's an amazing instrumental piece that he wrote for his wife and his performance of it at El Mocambo is definitely the best version of the song. Keep up the great work y'all.

The next reaction has got to be “little wing” live at El Mocambo!! Mind blowing!
What you said about the history of this music is so true. Gotta keep it alive.

just incredible, can listen to him non stop
For more Blues.....Alvin Lee is a must listen....the Bluest Blues, live at Tanglewood.1973.
Also Jeff Healy....As the years goes by.
He is one of very few that can make his guitar talk
@@428chase Peter Frampton is pretty awesome also, good point, so I changed my comment

Had the honor and privilege of seeing Stevie Ray twice,, he was a true master of the guitar !!
Guys the absolute best live version of this tune is live at El Macabo
SRV was simply the BEST! Y'alls facial expressions went right along with his. Loved this!!

when you saw stevie live, you knew that man earned his pay.
He definitely played from his soul and was born to play guitar
You should checkout the video of one of his sound checks, you know he’s an amazing guitarist when even one of his sound checks is mind blowing.
SRV played so hard he popped a string on the guitar. He also used super glue on his fingers to stop them from bleeding after his show was done.
Stevie Ray Vaughn is the G.O.A.T.!!! He busted a string right after putting the guitar behind his back. He used the highest guage of strings.

The gentleman that introduced Stevie, was Albert Collins, a legend in blues, and the master of the strat a caster
It's been said often that SRV didn't plug into an amp, he plugged into his soul. RIP GOAT
Love you al'! So glad I stumbled on to videos! Thanks again. 👏👏👏💕💕

Pretty cool to be introduced by Albert Collins, love the blues! Tasha you cracked me up girl ...lol !!
This is Texas Blues. Stevie Ray WAS Texas Blues. Fun reaction. Thanks.
The Blues is an evolution of the American experience in music.

This one deserves like an academy award or something. Posthumously. His Fender Strat needed therapy after this one. It was literally violated.
Please get his box set. It has everything on it. There are gems from his whole musical career. It is amazing.

Another one of the greats taken way too soon, R.I.P. Stevie Ray Vaughan
Have faith. There's a lot of youngsters out there loving the genre. Some are even little kids.
Love everything SRV ever did. Never viewed a bad performance, Check out Look at Little Sister.
Stevie ray Vaughn life without you live at the Capitol theater is absolute fire 🔥

I nearly threw a shoe (out of respect, you know). 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Love it!
I like these two. They're cool. Nice people.

i just love Stevie Ray Vaughn. So sad
