The sad reality: It has been taking place already four years too long. The inhuman rhetoric has been poisoning the style of discussions, not only in the US (where this has been bad enough for a long time :-), but also all along the world. And as long as gross inequality persists, the danger can perhaps be repressed, but not neutralised.
President-elect Joe Biden may be able to make progress with this. But I doubt it because it seems to me that the Republican party is delusional and has been for at least ten years. I am an independent, but I have refused to vote for any of them since this century. We tried on the first impeachment but too many Republicans were still tied to him back then, good news is a lot of Republicans cut their ties on January the 6th 2021. The sad reality: It has been taking place already four years too long. The inhuman rhetoric has been poisoning the style of discussions, not only in the US (where this has been bad enough for a long time :-), but also all along the world. In Trump's case it is reported that he was denied love and respect by his father and this formed the core of DJT's personality. He needs acclamation, craves respect and will use every mechanism that he has at his disposal to obtain it. Moreover, it matters little to him if the warm regard he seeks is genuine, a good fake is near enough.
There will be others like him to come, and as some commentators are pointing out, they will be worse. Trump had the drive for power, but he wasn't very competent, a lot of his actions and pronouncements backfired. But if a more astute power seeker comes along, they might be able to take what Trump built a little further, to a degree where democracy is finished and replaced with absolute rule.
Finally, the IMO the solution lies in reducing the alienation and unfairness felt by a large section of the population. It was this that fuelled Trump's rise. And as long as gross inequality persists, the danger can perhaps be repressed, but not neutralised.
President-elect Joe Biden may be able to make progress with this. But I doubt it because it seems to me that the Republican party is delusional and has been for at least ten years. I am an independent, but I have refused to vote for any of them since this century. I wish we had a viable third party that was centrist and would work to help all Americans and not try to force ideologies on them. Maybe now that many of the Republican politicians and strategists are leaving the party, they might start one.

I have to say that I never paid attention to his negative personality traits in the apprentice. The show was just entertaining. Perhaps I should watch some episode's again to see if it seems different now. The producers made sure his worse traits would not be exposed anyway. I do remember that when the first black person won the apprentice, he wanted to offer the apprenticeship also for the woman who came second place. That was so awkward and seemed a bit racist. I never watched the celebrity apprentices though, so perhaps Trumps jerkiness grew worse.

We tried on the first impeachment but too many Republicans were still tied to him back then, good news is a lot of Republicans cut their ties on January the 6th 2021. They didn't think anything really bad wouod happened with Trump as president, but like I saw this coming in 2019.
