This video is absolutely fantastic, I do have a question if the sprocket is broken inside would that stop you closing is manually? Only ask because my sunroof was stuck in the open position but I still managed to close it manually.
My sprocket was split in half like the video, and I couldn't close it manually. If you can close it manually it could be another issue with the sunroof motor
By chance do you know what the vent panels are called on the front of the shade? I need to replace and searching under anything they’d come up as but no luck.
@surge_vasquez question. My 2011 E350 moonroof stopped working and is open a bit. I found a broken gear from the motor. The dealership is telling me I need a new motor and a whole new moonroof assembly. Is this a case of them taking advantage or do you think I need just a new motor? Could the cables have went bad too
I have a 2017 amg c63s with the panoramic sunroof and it won't open. When pressing the open button, it lifts up an inch and then fails to open and closes back down again. Would the repair procedure be similar? I used to be an automotive technician so I know how to repair cars but this is my first Mercedes and I'm not familiar with how the headliner is assembled around the sunroof. It's a $2k+ fix so I can't afford to take it to a shop

Here is my issue: When my sunroof goes up, it makes a rattle noise, however, I checked the gear you replaced, but mine happens to be just fine, it is not broken. What do you recommend I do? What can possible cause that noise? Thanks!
thanks! i am trying to loosening the sunroof of W205. Everything was ok, but i wasnt able to dismantle the rack (that the glass goes on to close and open). can you tell me how please? it is urgent :(
Hi Surge, thank you for this video i learned a lot. I am having a synchronizing issue. My sunroof doesnt automatically close, i have to keep pressing the button to close but it closes every .5. Same thing with opening. Any help?
I would think you need to close the roof manually. Remove the motor. Power the motor up. Set it to the closed setting. Reinstall and see if things sync up.
@@surge_vasquez is this how you resynched the motor after changing the gear head? --1. Manually spin the roof shut --2. Power up the motor removed out then use the switch control to shut position --3. Reinsert the motor.... ? I swear, my roof is possessed!!! 👍
hi , i have MB E350 2012 and my sun roof wind deflector is loose on the side which connect to the car from front , i only see a rubber blade but dont know where to install it , when i do it goes up again , is there is a missing part ?
the netting part of my sunroom won't open,,, the roof will tho.. and now ive made it worse by pulling it back so now the netting drapes.. please help lol

Sounds like you just need to reset the sunroof.

It could need to be re synchronized or might have an issue with the track.

Hey Surge how do I remove the motor after removing all the screws ? I cannot take the motor out.
Are you sure you have all the screws out? There shouldn’t be anything else holding it on.
