  • On September 17-18 the Illinois Railroad Museum in Union, Illinois held its Showcase Weekend with a plethora of rolling stock in action. Steam engines, diesel-electric streamliners, electric interurbans and commuter cars were all present to the delight of the many families and fans. In this video from the Saturday we see among others Frisco 1630, a 2-10-0 Baldwin steam engine from 1918; an interurban from the Chicago Rapid Transit in 1907, Metra Highliners; a PCC street car from the St. Louis Car Co. in 1948; and a sparkling Nebraska Zephyr fluted stainless steel streamliner train pulled by E-5A Burlington Route diesel-electric loco number 9911-A, the Silver Pilot from 1940. The video is rounded off by looking over the conductor’s shoulder in observation car Juno as he pilots the train as it reverses back to the station.
