Actually the Auto Union 1000S Coupé was produced in quite a large quantity in RHD. They were very popular in Africa, especially South Africa. The special car in this video, is actually that golden Auto Union 1000SP roadster of which only 1640 were ever made!

Had 10 of those Auto Union about 55 years ago all but one was R.H.D., only place to get parts was in London and they were expensive, although buying the cars was quite cheap, had an interesting free wheel system on the front wheel drive. Used to race one in 'banger racing' in North Devon.
VW revived the Audi name when they acquired Auto Union in the early 60's. The plate on the Silver Audi in the brambles checks out as an '84 Audi Coupe. The 4 door XR3i checks out as an Escort Diesel. Real XR3i had body colour bumpers and were only ever 2 door as you said.

@@briansturrock2041 Hi buddy i can assure you its not the quality of my footage as i shoot in 4k, its paramount that i produce decent quality videos so not to lose traction on viewings, may i suggest that you change your resolution! You can change this to 2160p 4k in the video settings, unless you are viewing it on a 1080p tv, Again when the video is uploaded it takes a while to convert to 4k but i don't publish it until its ready at 4k, but at times youtube still sets it at 720p so you need to change it yourself, Hope this is clear, Many thanks...

Auto union became Audi after it merged with another company. They are the ‘au’ in the word Audi and the cav bumper is a manta front bumper with a cav sticker on - probably was fitted to a Mk1 cav coupe/sports hatch

The badge on the key fob in the Auto union is Audi . Audi stands for Auto ,Union ,Deutschland , Ingolstadt . Once again great videos .

Auto Union AG, Chemnitz, was an amalgamation of four German automobile manufacturers, founded in 1932 and established in 1936 in Chemnitz, Saxony. It is the immediate predecessor of Audi as it is known today. The badge on the key ring was the Auto Union crest.

Need to start finding out around them and seeing if you can buy any of them because that Quattro is worth saving it I didn’t do one in the photo soon as I put an exact size boot on the photo but that red Quattro is worth some as well need to save it it’s worth rebuilding anyway

Its that style of Audi 5 cylinder engine sound is the reason I own my focus st225 I love the sound of them its like music to my ears lol 😆
The drop head coupé in the garage is a Auto Union DKW 1000sp. It has a very simalar engine to the othe Auto Union DKW 1000 next to it. Both are three cylinder two strokes, and very good to drive. The 1000sp was modelled on the shape of the Ford Thunderbird, but that's where the simalarity ends. These two DKW (Auto Union) where front drive, 2 stroke, water cooled. No valves, no camshaft, no sump. Only three moving parts in the engine.
The 1000sp was normally left hand drive but a few would have been converted by Auto Union at their U.K headquarters.
Both of these cars are beautiful and are well worth restoration.
Auto Union was formed in 1932 by Jørgen Skafte Rasmussen, it comprised of Audi, DKW, Horch and Wanderer, hence the four ring badge symbolising the for marques together under one big brand. After WW2 only DKW survived. The last genuine Audi was made in about 1940. In 1958ish Mercedes Benz bought the company. They sold it to VW in 1964. VW used the DKW F102 body and put a Mercedes 1.7 liter four stroke engine in it. Originally all DKW where two stroke, but the new VW Auto Union with a four stroke engine reused the old name Audi. Hence the modern Audi was born. Audi is Latin for the word 'listen'. Anyway.. I think everyone must be bored by now....
Old American car in the barn looks like a 60's thunderbird.
Im sure this was the place that there used to be a mint Escort rs1600 in one of the garages but was stolen a few years back. I think the guy was a milkman that used to buy all old scrap cars from his customers and collect them.
Morning bud, great video again, the auto union company joined with another called dkw to become audi and that's where you get the 4 rings of audi from 👍 we have one at the Odd Auto's workshop which we converted to electric if you ever want to pop down and have a look 👍 or watch the build on our TH-cam channel 👍
But now you're killing me!! The golden roadster is a DKW 1000 SP (Auto Union, later Audi!). My father drove it as a coupé, built in 1959 (as a child I still rode on the small seat in the back) Until 1961 they had the pointed tail fins, from 1962 the round tail fins. The convertible was only available from 1962-65. Only about ca. 1600 pieces were built (Baur coachwork builder)! You gotta get him out of there!
Only the model of the DKW 1000 SP (not the DKW 1000 and not the 3=6) was built here in my town Düsseldorf-Derendorf! The black horn button with dragon and anchor is our city coat of arms! In 1967 Daimler Benz sold the DKW/Audi rights and Audi was re-established. The DKW factory is then the current Mercedes Sprinter factory.
I still have the original brochures from my father for the coupe and the roadster. But now I'm very nervous, get that thing out of there, or write to the Audi Car factory in Germany!
