I knew it wouldn't be high on the list, but I was really expecting to see it somewhere. It's a song that has stayed with me my whole life, and it's so great that when I heard it for the first time in years after it was in one of the Mario Kart 8 trailers all remastered, I teared up a bit. It's so damn good.
Jesus Meza All 3D Mario games have their own THEME when it comes to this, so I nominate ALL of them for the best Mario music. (Pun intended) 64: Happy, cheery, and catchy music. Has a lot of memorable songs as well, most of which fit the levels they are in. Sounds very 90s, in a way. Hmm, I wonder why? Sunshine: Tropical, summertime, yet beautiful style, and also catchy. Basically summer vacation in video game form. How fitting! 64 DS: Combine the 64 soundfont with the DS soundfont, and you have this game's soundtrack which is honestly a bit underrated. Also, it's on a handheld. Obviously a remake of 64 so... Galaxy: Beautiful orchestral music, my favorite kind of music BTW, with heartwarming and almost sad moments at places but also very grand and epic. Galaxy 2: Same as Galaxy 1 but with more happy, cheery and catchy music like Mario 64, and also has a suprisingly high amount of remixes. No, seriously, there's actually quite a few. 3D Land: Limited because it's on a handheld system, but still good. Gets rid of orchestra in exchange for a jazz band, which fits well so I don't really care. Sounds happy and catchy.) 3D World: The jazz band is back and helps to make the music very enjoyable even if it sounds childish. Fits with the stages and is fun to listen to on occasion. Very catchy too. Oddesey: Take EVERYTHING in this comment and try to mash it into one Switch game. Don't ask me how they did it, but Nintendo pulled it off in probably the greatest way possible!
I haven't watched the video yet.... but let me guess, No. 1 is the song from world 1-1 from Super Mario Brothers on the NES. And the narrator is going to say something like "the original" and "it's a classic", or "the one that started it all".

I actually wasn't expecting anything from Watchmojo but Gusty Garden is the most catchy one, gives everyone goosebumps and also is really high quality.

asxciie The credits theme from super mario 64. as a kid there were so many levels that were just abysmally difficult for me, and the final Bowser map was no different. Back then the final bowser battle was a nightmare too. The sense of euphoria i got upon seeing the end credits is a feeling unlike anything I have ever felt since. And the Mario Kart 64 credits.
Super Mario 3D Lands Final Boss Theme Against Bowser In World 8 is absolutely perfect I also like the boss theme in ML: BIS and ML: DT and also the final boss theme in New Super Mario Bros U. And also Probably The Final Antasma Battle In DT, Final Bowser Battle In DT, The Normal Battle Theme in DT, The first level theme for NSMB 1 2 and wii, the first level them for NSMBU, the main theme of all the NSMB games, The Boss Theme In Super Mario 3D World (King Ka Thunk, Brolder, and Motley Boss Blobb), the hisstocrat boss theme in 3D world, Bowser Juniors Main Theme, New Super Mario Bros Two Final Bowser Boss Theme, And OK I'll stop now you get my point. Mario has a Absolute craploud of awesome themes. and this isn't even half of my favorite Mario songs lol.
Sorry to say, but the Main SMB theme is just way too simple and blocky to even make it on the top 10. Nah, man, if you want a good Mario song, try BUOY BASE GALAXY, or the whole Galaxy soundtrack for that matter...

I don't know why but one of my all time favorites is the "Title theme" from New super mario bros DS, it always made me smile, I'm surprised its not on this list. Along with the moo moo meadows track song from mario kart, especially the remastered edition on Mario Kart 8. It just always had me inspired and really happily humming along eager to finish the lap and have the tempo increase.
I agree!! Moo moo meadows always got me so happy and emotional and even when it was my first time hearing it, something about the violin part made me think of a happy childhood and alot of Nostalgia. And the Title theme in NSMB Ds was also very upbeat, should've at least been an honerable mention

I don't even know if the soundtrack was made by grant kirkhope but rare is known for some good songs nonetheless.
I've played Grunty's Revenge and Banjo-Pilot before and they had really decent song selections. Banjo-Kazooie Nuts and Bolts has fair sounding music, but the N64 game musics are the best.

My favorites: 1. Gusty Garden Galaxy from Super Mario Galaxy (besides maybe Moonview Highway and the Wii Sports Resort theme remix, no piece of music in any video game EVER hits me as hard as this. Heck, not even my most played game ever, being Pokémon Black 2, doesn't hit me on that level, though in its defense and the fact that it's my 3rd favorite video game of all time, it's pretty darn close, if not just as high on the nostalgic list.) 2. Champion's Road from Super Mario 3D World (That jazz band remix of Gusty Garden is fantastic on so many levels of hype, gets me excited every time I hear it) 3. World 9 from New Super Mario Bros Wii (Still never got back to playing it lol, I heard World 9-7 is really annoying, is that true?) 4. Wuhu Loop/Maka Wuhu from Mario Kart 7 (Holy crap, the music hits me like a train with the personal feels, you have NO idea how much I played Wii Sports Resort as a kid. I'm also stupidly good at both tracks, though nowhere near as much as Moonview Highway in skill level. I love using the Gyro Sensor controls here as I actually PREFER motion controls over normal controls, and it makes the nostalgia just that extra bit of more special since I use Wii Sports Resort as both a fun, memorable game and a motion control training facility.) 5. Bowser's Galaxy Reactor & Bowser's Galaxy Generator (I like them both equally, they both sound epic and set the tone phenomenally, and yes that's a word. Both final boss themes are epic too, as are the fights, though they're a bit too easy for me. But let's face it, hard and Mario Galaxy boss fights don't go together anyway. The atmosphere makes up for it in spades though. If there is an atmosphere, that is. It's in outer space. You know, it's super ironic how space themed music has atmosphere now that I think about it.) 6. World S from Super Mario Galaxy 2 (My version of a Try Not to Cry challenge, memories of 100%-ing Galaxy 2 and feeling like I'm actually worth something in life) 7. Honeylune Ridge from Super Mario Oddesey (again, for the Galaxy nostalgia and that orchestral remix of the Power Star music...😇 IT'S SO PRETTY OMG 😍) 8. The music of the one water kingdom in Super Mario Oddesey (What was it called again? The pretty one with the first good water based areas since Galaxy 1 and 2, and Super Mario 64 as well. Most 3D Mario games have good water levels. Nintendo is really just good with water, unless your name is Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire. *cough cough IGN*) 9. Various themes from New Super Mario Bros. DS and Wii respectively (there's too many for me to list, and again, the nostalgia is really high here.) 10. Basically every song from Mario Kart Wii (nostalgic tracks, both in music and racing terms, it's hard for me to find a MKWii made song that I don't like, especially Rainbow Road 😇) 11. Moonview Highway from Mario Kart Wii (I have so many nostalgic memories, triumphs, wins AND great Time Trial times of this track alone that even my best friends fear how good I am at the track, and they haven't even seen me run it ingame, and the stylish music, course lighting, and pace is just...it's almost like it's made for me personally... 😍) Yeah, uh, if you couldn't tell, I'm a sucker for Mario Wii games and the music in said games, and particularly of remixes as well. Now where's my Nintendo Switch Mario Kart 9 with Moonview Highway and Maka Wuhu, both in the same cup with Wii style remixes that hit me in the feels? That's probably the only thing I want in the Mario franchise more than Galaxy 3, and THAT'S a bold statement if I've ever made one. (Super Mario Sunshine also needs some love and a sequel, I will admit, but I never played it, I grew up with Galaxy 1 and 2 and Mario Kart Wii as well.) I did too . I got almost all the stars(or suns I forget) but the game got scratched and wouldn't play the last level again. I tried to fix it with this thing that was supposed to get rid of scratches, but that just made it worst. After that, it was unplayable. :'(

I don't know why but one of my all time favorites is the "Title theme" from New super mario bros DS, it always made me smile, I'm surprised its not on this list. Along with the moo moo meadows track song from mario kart, especially the remastered edition on Mario Kart 8. It just always had me inspired and really happily humming along eager to finish the lap and have the tempo increase.
I agree!! Moo moo meadows always got me so happy and emotional and even when it was my first time hearing it, something about the violin part made me think of a happy childhood and alot of Nostalgia. And the Title theme in NSMB Ds was also very upbeat, should've at least been an honerable mention

JamesDavy2009 To be honest I never played nuts and bolts since the game play strayed too far from the core collection mechanic but I'll check out the ost to see if the music is still good. I don't even know if the soundtrack was made by grant kirkhope but rare is known for some good songs nonetheless.
I've played Grunty's Revenge and Banjo-Pilot before and they had really decent song selections. Banjo-Kazooie Nuts and Bolts has fair sounding music, but the N64 game musics are the best.

1. Gusty Garden Galaxy from Super Mario Galaxy (besides maybe Moonview Highway and the Wii Sports Resort theme remix, no piece of music in any video game EVER hits me as hard as this. Heck, not even my most played game ever, being Pokémon Black 2, doesn't hit me on that level, though in its defense and the fact that it's my 3rd favorite video game of all time, it's pretty darn close, if not just as high on the nostalgic list.)
2. Champion's Road from Super Mario 3D World (That jazz band remix of Gusty Garden is fantastic on so many levels of hype, gets me excited every time I hear it)
3. World 9 from New Super Mario Bros Wii (Still never got back to playing it lol, I heard World 9-7 is really annoying, is that true?)
4. Wuhu Loop/Maka Wuhu from Mario Kart 7 (Holy crap, the music hits me like a train with the personal feels, you have NO idea how much I played Wii Sports Resort as a kid. I'm also stupidly good at both tracks, though nowhere near as much as Moonview Highway in skill level. I love using the Gyro Sensor controls here as I actually PREFER motion controls over normal controls, and it makes the nostalgia just that extra bit of more special since I use Wii Sports Resort as both a fun, memorable game and a motion control training facility.)
5. Bowser's Galaxy Reactor & Bowser's Galaxy Generator (I like them both equally, they both sound epic and set the tone phenomenally, and yes that's a word. Both final boss themes are epic too, as are the fights, though they're a bit too easy for me. But let's face it, hard and Mario Galaxy boss fights don't go together anyway. The atmosphere makes up for it in spades though. If there is an atmosphere, that is. It's in outer space. You know, it's super ironic how space themed music has atmosphere now that I think about it.)
6. World S from Super Mario Galaxy 2 (My version of a Try Not to Cry challenge, memories of 100%-ing Galaxy 2 and feeling like I'm actually worth something in life)
7. Honeylune Ridge from Super Mario Oddesey (again, for the Galaxy nostalgia and that orchestral remix of the Power Star music...😇 IT'S SO PRETTY OMG 😍)
8. The music of the one water kingdom in Super Mario Oddesey (What was it called again? The pretty one with the first good water based areas since Galaxy 1 and 2, and Super Mario 64 as well. Most 3D Mario games have good water levels. Nintendo is really just good with water, unless your name is Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire. *cough cough IGN*)
9. Various themes from New Super Mario Bros. DS and Wii respectively (there's too many for me to list, and again, the nostalgia is really high here.)
10. Basically every song from Mario Kart Wii (nostalgic tracks, both in music and racing terms, it's hard for me to find a MKWii made song that I don't like, especially Rainbow Road 😇)
11. Moonview Highway from Mario Kart Wii (I have so many nostalgic memories, triumphs, wins AND great Time Trial times of this track alone that even my best friends fear how good I am at the track, and they haven't even seen me run it ingame, and the stylish music, course lighting, and pace is just...it's almost like it's made for me personally... 😍)
Yeah, uh, if you couldn't tell, I'm a sucker for Mario Wii games and the music in said games, and particularly of remixes as well. Now where's my Nintendo Switch Mario Kart 9 with Moonview Highway and Maka Wuhu, both in the same cup with Wii style remixes that hit me in the feels? That's probably the only thing I want in the Mario franchise more than Galaxy 3, and THAT'S a bold statement if I've ever made one. (Super Mario Sunshine also needs some love and a sequel, I will admit, but I never played it, I grew up with Galaxy 1 and 2 and Mario Kart Wii as well.)

I did too . I got almost all the stars(or suns I forget) but the game got scratched and wouldn't play the last level again. I tried to fix it with this thing that was supposed to get rid of scratches, but that just made it worst. After that, it was unplayable. :'(
