In response to people saying that the ghost is the spirit of a kit who fused with Moonpaw in the womb, I wanted to repeat something that I also included in a video I made back in June when Moonpaw was first revealed to be a chimera cat: I personally don't believe this to be the case because a chimera simply refers to having multiple sets of DNA and has nothing to do with multiple spirits inhabiting the same body. It's not two full-grown kits magically joining together, the fusion has to happen very early in development before any kits are even formed.
While I understand this completely, I also wouldn't be surprised if that is the route the Eren's are going to take tho. 😅 I can see either being right, dead sibling, or "chimera sibling" due to a probable lack of understanding or not caring/finding it needed.
I really wanted the voice to be mapleshade 😭 but I think two spirits in one body is the way they're going with this. Also since if a cat gets gravely injured, their spirit can roam out of their body for a while, maybe we can get moonpaw vs sibling spirit battle PLEASE ERINS
What makes sense will never guarantee that the Erins won't do it anyway. It's an easy stereotype to make of both Chimerism and DID and I doubt they've done their reasearch and simply think the idea is cool. Despite the fact they've just stepped into quite the minefield if they are approaching this at the similar to DID angle.
It makes sense that Moonpaw's spirit is a kit. We know kits who have died in warriors stay as kits forever, and since Starclan relies on memory maybe this spirit was just too scared to move on. Or its like Squirrelflight's hope where the kit needs someone to guide them to Starclan
I really hope that Moonpaw becomes a warrior. I love her relationship with Sunbeam it's so sweet and she herself is precious. I love how she's not nervous and anxious like most new warriors protagonists but she's got a real amount of nervousness as any young cat would. But she's also bold and energetic. I love her so much Erins PLEASE let my baby be a power queen like her mentor!!!

In a fanfic I just started, I have two sibling OCs with a similar naming style. I started with Dawnpaw and wanted a brother with a name that went with Dawn, but Night sounded too obvious (then I named a pair of loner siblings Fox and Vixen lol), so o named him Sunpaw. He’s a big, goofy himbo golden tabby. She’s a small, fluffy pale gray sweetheart. Their warrior names are Sunstorm and Dawnfeather… Sunstorm completes his final assessment by falling on top of his prey by accident and squishing it to death lol

Then, looking up, he spoke more clearly. “I think I know a cat with the wisdom to lead the Clans on this journey…” (The Elder’s Quest - Prologue) After saying that in our first chapter with Moonpaw, she says the cat has Green eyes and is the same shade of ginger (orange) as her. Now, yes, this doesn’t explain why the ghost is trying to keep itself hidden but it is just a theory.. What if the ghost is a re-incarnation of Firestar? What if maybe StarClan made this re-incarnation that was the same as Firestar with all his wisdom, courage, and heart ect.. that would explain how she would “have the wisdom to lead the clans on this journey” It also makes sense seeing as it was confirmed StarClan had never done anything like this before.I mean I wouldn’t be surprised if the Erin’s found one more way to bring him back you know.

It does look like she is actually a chimaera. And seeing as that kits who were born still-born, so it makes sense that an absorbed twin would have a spirit, and it makes sense that the absorbed twin would be attached spiritually to the born twin. I wonder if Tree or Rootspring could see them?

Thunderclan has the most amount of cats around the lake being 55 which is beyond ridiculous they need to have some event or sickness that wipes out alot of cats that are background characters

@@Hydedearest I don’t know if you’ve ever seen The Owl House, but there was an extremely powerful character there who could rival that universe’s god, but he was a child and he absolutely acted like one. I could see this spirit acting similarly. Our brains mature through both age and experience. The spirit won’t be able to age and while it may SEE what Moonpaw experiences, it won’t have those experiences itself. But it would probably not be able to understand that and think just “growing up” physically is all it takes to mature. So it will somehow be able to “grow” physically (likely because it’s attachment to Moonpaw) but it will always mentally be a child. And that’s where the “sinister voice” comes from. Kids don’t understand that you can’t just lash out and hurt others when you’re upset, you can’t steal things just because you want them, and you can’t just say things without thinking. It’s why kids can say and do “creepy” things. The don’t understand how it comes off or have any concept of social etiquette. So I can see the “sinisterness” coming from a combination of the spirit being scary to Moonpaw and just not being mentally mature.
I am actually really interested in the idea of a conversation between Crowfeather and Tawnypelt looking back. If we are in a TNP scenario, they basically have had no real connection once they got to the lake. Estranged, tired people who didn't care much for one another in the past but are forced together again. Both have changed. Both have been through so much. Let the old people be friends.

@@nerminramush4449 I know, I just feel like it’s something that warriors would do. Chimeras also aren’t normally split down the middle like that usually (for the type of chimera she’s meant to be. There’s multiple forms of chimerism) if it’s noticeable the cat may have like random patches of dilute and non dilute fur, different fur lengths, patches with completely different patterns, and many more. It may not be noticeable though and the only way to find out for sure is to have genetic testing done on the different parts. I headcannon that the black fur is shorter than the orange side. But the orange parts being dilute would also be cool! Having a half-and-half face is a normal tortie pattern and not telling of chimerism. Warriors has a lot of unrealistic elements so I wouldn’t be surprised at the ghost of a kit that fused with their sibling in the womb stayed with her. Maybe it’s not entirely a ghost because they fused with Moonpaw and were able to develop alongside her as the voice in her head. Also fun fact chimerism is thought to be under-diagnosed in humans! Mostly because it involves a lot of genetic testing. This one case I know of was when this woman got into legal trouble because some (don’t remember if all of them or of it was just two I think she had three) because her kids didn’t match her dna. After a lot of testing because she knows she gave birth to them she found out they’re her genetic sibling’s children. She fused with her sibling in the womb and she needed up with one of her ovaries leading to her kids having different dna than the rest of her.) it was super cool to learn about! And if it is meant to be her genetic sibling it could raise questions about how early kits even get like a ghost form. Stillborn kits canonically go to starclan if I remember correctly. So how early can they even become a ghost. (Horrifying concept of like miscarried kits that are just little jellybeans appearing in starclan.) also idk if this is even touched upon but didn’t cats who die pregnant stay pregnant in starclan? I could be wrong but I think that’s a thing that was cannon at some point? Could be misremembering though. Btw please don’t misinterpret anything I say to be talking about people in any way! Purely talking about the books here not irl pregnancy, I just wanted to preface that.
While I understand the science of it not being Moonpaw's sibling she absorbed in the womb...this is the Erins we are talking about and they don't really do biological accuracy. They also tend to lean heavily into the fantasy side of things (obviously, this is a fantasy book series!). Whether it is the twin she absorbed, or if it is just another kit, they are most likely going to pull a 'Beyond Two Souls'.
Plus, this is a series about murder cats with politics, crude medical knowledge, and an organized religion that is actually real and tangible. I don’t think a character having the spirit of their absorbed twin whispering in their head is the weirdest thing we got going on.

I think the voice in Moonpaw's head is her sibling who is The Orange tabby face, or she was supposed to have a sibling but it died when Thriftear was pregnant with Moonpaw, that also happened with me I was supposed to have a twin sister but she died during the 4th month of pregnancy and when I was a kid I had a feeling that i'm being watched even though nothing was there, then when I was 11 my mother gave birth to my sister and she kinda looks identical to me

I know there was another cat with two different colored eyes, it was a cat who helped out scourge when he was young and decided to give him her food which she had one blue eye and the other being yellow. Moonpaw is the second to have two different colored eyes.
I just (like, an hour ago) finished Star and came to watch this video. Upon your mention of the Elders' Quest teaser chapters, I went to read those as well. And I gotta say, I personally loved the Leafstar chapter... Definitely already looking forward to this book, and to having older PoVs!
Since cats are usually born in litters and most cats in the series who are only children have dead siblings, I believe that the voice is Moonpaw's dead littermate. Though, it would make more sense if Mapleshade was the voice. She was a voice for Tigerstar, so why not be a voice for someone else? Also, I just love the pose Ashfur has, it gave me mean girl vibes.
The greatest debates of the fandom: Scourge's Collar, Dovewing's eyes, and now what I can sense will become... _Moonpaw's Orange side_ Website has given us a handful of questionable, sometimes contradictory info in the past. But it's where we got our first depiction of Moonpaw. Black on her left. Orange on her right. So obviously a lot of people are gonna draw her using that as reference. And then the people who stay out of touch to go into the books completely blind, will read "The orange tabby was exactly the same color and pattern as the LEFT side of Moonpaw's face." Thus fight that orange is on her left and black is on her right.
honestly I hope the big reveal isn’t just: the sibling is dead and it’s body was fused with moonpaws and that’s why moonpaw looks like that and why she can hear the voice of her dead sibling
I think some other theories for where the clans may be going next are 1. (this one's EXTERMILY unlikely) The sun-drown place 2. the mountains (I don't think I should even put this here :) 3. An island (i love this one!)
I'm kinda convinced that this arc may kill off the remaining New Prophecy cats, though at the same time I doubt the authors would kill Squirrelstar so quickly after she became the ThunderClan leader. Who's to say, really...
I personally like the theory of the ginger cat being Moonpaw’s sibling that fused with her. Chimera cats occur when two embryos fuse together in the womb at a very early stage of development, resulting in a cat with two sets of DNA. Moonpaw would’ve been a black and white cat, but she fused with her sibling before she was born (resulting in her tortoiseshell appearance)
It would be cool if the new territories were with the wildcats though. There is a lot of stuff going on there we don't know about yet, and we might learn in the next super edition, which, of course, is about stormclan, and will come out during the new arc, so they could do something to lead into the wildcats forest being the new territories
If the kit does end up being Moonpaw’s dead sibling, reabsorbed or not, I think the dead sibling could just pull a Curlfeather from Star. In that book, Curlfeather bore the wounds of the dogs that killed her, but she made those injuries go away when talking to Frostpaw in the mist (because the latter was scared of her appearance otherwise). Maybe this dead kit could do something similar and alter her age to make it seem like she’s around the same age as Moonpaw to throw her off the scent of the truth or something. I still believe her dead sibling is reabsorbed, because Moonpaw wouldn’t be a chimera, and it’s not known the time-skip between A Starless Clan and Changing Skies; there might not have been enough time for Bayshine and Thriftear to have two sets of kits. Even if there was, wouldn’t Moonpaw’s parents tell her if she had a potential older sibling; especially if what got her killed could’ve been avoided and they didn’t want Moonpaw suffering the same fate? Maybe the dead kit made a deal with the Dark Forest to torment Moonpaw, so she can take over her body or something. I know it sounds crazy, but given what’s happened in the last two arcs and the last few super editions, I don’t think it’s entirely out of the realm of possibility for a reabsorbed twin to be an evil ghost haunting the living twin.
Hey, I know I’m 6 hours late but I wanted to say that the amount of time between A Starless Clan and Changing Skies IS KNOWN, at the end of Star, Nightheart mentions that Sunbeam is expecting kits, Cat pregnancies last for 2 moons, and later Moonpaw mentions that she’s six moons old, only a few days younger than Nightheart and Sunbeam’s kits, with this in mind, we can safely say that it’s been about 7-8 moons since then, hope this helps :)

Whenever possession/haunting happens in the Warriors series, it’s usually a cat connected to the living cat that’s seeing them, and what better connection for Moonpaw to have with this dead kit than being her reabsorbed twin or something? I get why people think this isn’t possible, but do you really want to bring realism into a book series about talking cats living in big groups/clan in the wild? I mean, we’ve had cats with superpowers, a coup in ShadowClan, a possessed cat hellbent on being a dictator, two sisters being on trial for committing crimes their ancestors in cat heaven basically told them to commit, a she-cat disappearing forever because she drowned in cat hell, said she-cat’s mother, boyfriend, her aunt, and two other cats finding out that there was a sixth clan (StormClan/ThunderClan and WindClan merged into one) and going to various afterlives without really dying, and then a coup in RiverClan that lasted a whole arc, because a bad mom forced her daughter to become a medicine cat to manipulate her way to becoming leader, but is backstabbed and thwarted by her accomplice, her daughter’s crush. Do we really want to cross off dead, evil sibling as a possibility in this universe?
Hear me out: maybe Moonpaw's ghost could be Dandelionkit? (Squirrelstar and Brambleclaw's kit, who was one of Alderheart and Sparkpelt's littermates; she died only about two moons after birth, plus she's a ginger she-cat who might've had green eyes! I could be wrong, but it'd be such a cool and interesting plot point imo, especially considering that she'd died so young and is related to Firestar, who had the idea of trying something new! It'd also fit how the ghost seems to act so far, too, bc Squirrelstar as a kit/apprentice acted pretty similarly ^^) Edit after reading a few comments: it's said that Moonpaw was the only kit in Thriftear and Bayshine's litter, so I'd have to check dead sibling off of the list in that case (unless the Erins have something along those lines planned); as for absorbed-in-the-womb sibling, it's possible, but I personally don't think it'd make too much sense (at least with what we have rn) because of what was said in the prologue ;0 but that's my theory so far!
I find the part with Moonpaw having a ghost kinda interesting because I had a Warrior Cats OC back in 2019 named Dally with a similar color scheme (white, black and orange), who is accompanied by a ghost named Boa, who is a red cat with black tabby stripes. Funny deja vu in a way. 😂

I think the series is called Changing Skies because when the clans move they will have a ‘new sky’ above them that StarClan will need to move to like the first Great Journey. This is just my idea however, what do you think?

A chimera is when two fetuses fuse in the womb, which can make male torties, or even, black and gray torties!! which is what I wish they did with Moonpaw :( Also the ghost could've been her fused twin :D

Hey, I watch this stuff while writing weird fanfics too lol my current one involves the distant past Clans becoming too large and a big group having to leave to make a brand new Clan far away. Their founding leader is a loner kit at the start of the arc.

@@Hydedearest I don’t know if you’ve ever seen The Owl House, but there was an extremely powerful character there who could rival that universe’s god, but he was a child and he absolutely acted like one. I could see this spirit acting similarly.
Our brains mature through both age and experience. The spirit won’t be able to age and while it may SEE what Moonpaw experiences, it won’t have those experiences itself. But it would probably not be able to understand that and think just “growing up” physically is all it takes to mature. So it will somehow be able to “grow” physically (likely because it’s attachment to Moonpaw) but it will always mentally be a child. And that’s where the “sinister voice” comes from. Kids don’t understand that you can’t just lash out and hurt others when you’re upset, you can’t steal things just because you want them, and you can’t just say things without thinking. It’s why kids can say and do “creepy” things. The don’t understand how it comes off or have any concept of social etiquette. So I can see the “sinisterness” coming from a combination of the spirit being scary to Moonpaw and just not being mentally mature.
I’m so glad Sunbeam was chosen as Moonpaw’s mentor! I really love Sunbeam, her story, her personality, etc.

I am actually really interested in the idea of a conversation between Crowfeather and Tawnypelt looking back. If we are in a TNP scenario, they basically have had no real connection once they got to the lake. Estranged, tired people who didn't care much for one another in the past but are forced together again. Both have changed. Both have been through so much. Let the old people be friends.

@@nerminramush4449 I know, I just feel like it’s something that warriors would do. Chimeras also aren’t normally split down the middle like that usually (for the type of chimera she’s meant to be. There’s multiple forms of chimerism) if it’s noticeable the cat may have like random patches of dilute and non dilute fur, different fur lengths, patches with completely different patterns, and many more. It may not be noticeable though and the only way to find out for sure is to have genetic testing done on the different parts. I headcannon that the black fur is shorter than the orange side. But the orange parts being dilute would also be cool! Having a half-and-half face is a normal tortie pattern and not telling of chimerism.
Warriors has a lot of unrealistic elements so I wouldn’t be surprised at the ghost of a kit that fused with their sibling in the womb stayed with her. Maybe it’s not entirely a ghost because they fused with Moonpaw and were able to develop alongside her as the voice in her head.
Also fun fact chimerism is thought to be under-diagnosed in humans! Mostly because it involves a lot of genetic testing. This one case I know of was when this woman got into legal trouble because some (don’t remember if all of them or of it was just two I think she had three) because her kids didn’t match her dna. After a lot of testing because she knows she gave birth to them she found out they’re her genetic sibling’s children. She fused with her sibling in the womb and she needed up with one of her ovaries leading to her kids having different dna than the rest of her.) it was super cool to learn about!
And if it is meant to be her genetic sibling it could raise questions about how early kits even get like a ghost form. Stillborn kits canonically go to starclan if I remember correctly. So how early can they even become a ghost. (Horrifying concept of like miscarried kits that are just little jellybeans appearing in starclan.) also idk if this is even touched upon but didn’t cats who die pregnant stay pregnant in starclan? I could be wrong but I think that’s a thing that was cannon at some point? Could be misremembering though.
Btw please don’t misinterpret anything I say to be talking about people in any way! Purely talking about the books here not irl pregnancy, I just wanted to preface that.
While I understand the science of it not being Moonpaw's sibling she absorbed in the womb...this is the Erins we are talking about and they don't really do biological accuracy. They also tend to lean heavily into the fantasy side of things (obviously, this is a fantasy book series!). Whether it is the twin she absorbed, or if it is just another kit, they are most likely going to pull a 'Beyond Two Souls'.
Plus, this is a series about murder cats with politics, crude medical knowledge, and an organized religion that is actually real and tangible. I don’t think a character having the spirit of their absorbed twin whispering in their head is the weirdest thing we got going on.

I think the voice in Moonpaw's head is her sibling who is The Orange tabby face, or she was supposed to have a sibling but it died when Thriftear was pregnant with Moonpaw, that also happened with me I was supposed to have a twin sister but she died during the 4th month of pregnancy and when I was a kid I had a feeling that i'm being watched even though nothing was there, then when I was 11 my mother gave birth to my sister and she kinda looks identical to me

I know there was another cat with two different colored eyes, it was a cat who helped out scourge when he was young and decided to give him her food which she had one blue eye and the other being yellow. Moonpaw is the second to have two different colored eyes.
I just (like, an hour ago) finished Star and came to watch this video. Upon your mention of the Elders' Quest teaser chapters, I went to read those as well. And I gotta say, I personally loved the Leafstar chapter... Definitely already looking forward to this book, and to having older PoVs!
It would be really interesting if it was a stillborn or died early childhood that Moonpaw doesn't remember.
Since cats are usually born in litters and most cats in the series who are only children have dead siblings, I believe that the voice is Moonpaw's dead littermate.
Though, it would make more sense if Mapleshade was the voice. She was a voice for Tigerstar, so why not be a voice for someone else?

Website has given us a handful of questionable, sometimes contradictory info in the past. But it's where we got our first depiction of Moonpaw. Black on her left. Orange on her right. So obviously a lot of people are gonna draw her using that as reference.
And then the people who stay out of touch to go into the books completely blind, will read "The orange tabby was exactly the same color and pattern as the LEFT side of Moonpaw's face." Thus fight that orange is on her left and black is on her right.

I personally like the theory of the ginger cat being Moonpaw’s sibling that fused with her. Chimera cats occur when two embryos fuse together in the womb at a very early stage of development, resulting in a cat with two sets of DNA. Moonpaw would’ve been a black and white cat, but she fused with her sibling before she was born (resulting in her tortoiseshell appearance)

There is a lot of stuff going on there we don't know about yet, and we might learn in the next super edition, which, of course, is about stormclan, and will come out during the new arc, so they could do something to lead into the wildcats forest being the new territories
If the kit does end up being Moonpaw’s dead sibling, reabsorbed or not, I think the dead sibling could just pull a Curlfeather from Star. In that book, Curlfeather bore the wounds of the dogs that killed her, but she made those injuries go away when talking to Frostpaw in the mist (because the latter was scared of her appearance otherwise). Maybe this dead kit could do something similar and alter her age to make it seem like she’s around the same age as Moonpaw to throw her off the scent of the truth or something. I still believe her dead sibling is reabsorbed, because Moonpaw wouldn’t be a chimera, and it’s not known the time-skip between A Starless Clan and Changing Skies; there might not have been enough time for Bayshine and Thriftear to have two sets of kits. Even if there was, wouldn’t Moonpaw’s parents tell her if she had a potential older sibling; especially if what got her killed could’ve been avoided and they didn’t want Moonpaw suffering the same fate? Maybe the dead kit made a deal with the Dark Forest to torment Moonpaw, so she can take over her body or something. I know it sounds crazy, but given what’s happened in the last two arcs and the last few super editions, I don’t think it’s entirely out of the realm of possibility for a reabsorbed twin to be an evil ghost haunting the living twin.
Hey, I know I’m 6 hours late but I wanted to say that the amount of time between A Starless Clan and Changing Skies IS KNOWN, at the end of Star, Nightheart mentions that Sunbeam is expecting kits, Cat pregnancies last for 2 moons, and later Moonpaw mentions that she’s six moons old, only a few days younger than Nightheart and Sunbeam’s kits, with this in mind, we can safely say that it’s been about 7-8 moons since then, hope this helps :)

Whenever possession/haunting happens in the Warriors series, it’s usually a cat connected to the living cat that’s seeing them, and what better connection for Moonpaw to have with this dead kit than being her reabsorbed twin or something? I get why people think this isn’t possible, but do you really want to bring realism into a book series about talking cats living in big groups/clan in the wild? I mean, we’ve had cats with superpowers, a coup in ShadowClan, a possessed cat hellbent on being a dictator, two sisters being on trial for committing crimes their ancestors in cat heaven basically told them to commit, a she-cat disappearing forever because she drowned in cat hell, said she-cat’s mother, boyfriend, her aunt, and two other cats finding out that there was a sixth clan (StormClan/ThunderClan and WindClan merged into one) and going to various afterlives without really dying, and then a coup in RiverClan that lasted a whole arc, because a bad mom forced her daughter to become a medicine cat to manipulate her way to becoming leader, but is backstabbed and thwarted by her accomplice, her daughter’s crush. Do we really want to cross off dead, evil sibling as a possibility in this universe?
Hear me out: maybe Moonpaw's ghost could be Dandelionkit? (Squirrelstar and Brambleclaw's kit, who was one of Alderheart and Sparkpelt's littermates; she died only about two moons after birth, plus she's a ginger she-cat who might've had green eyes! I could be wrong, but it'd be such a cool and interesting plot point imo, especially considering that she'd died so young and is related to Firestar, who had the idea of trying something new! It'd also fit how the ghost seems to act so far, too, bc Squirrelstar as a kit/apprentice acted pretty similarly ^^)
Edit after reading a few comments: it's said that Moonpaw was the only kit in Thriftear and Bayshine's litter, so I'd have to check dead sibling off of the list in that case (unless the Erins have something along those lines planned); as for absorbed-in-the-womb sibling, it's possible, but I personally don't think it'd make too much sense (at least with what we have rn) because of what was said in the prologue ;0 but that's my theory so far!

I kind of wish they made Moonpaw an actual Chimera, Chimera cats aren't JUST the split faced ones actually! Those can also be just normal torties. A chimera is when two fetuses fuse in the womb, which can make male torties, or even, black and gray torties!! which is what I wish they did with Moonpaw :(

Male torties are not trated as special in the series like: Redtail, Sol, Patchkit (Mapleshade's kit) Shellfur and Ripplestar (Code of the Clans)
