I saved your video and was excited to show it to my physical therapist. I am 60 and have OA both hips bone on bone with painful advanced muscle atrophy. I am always in pain, the hip ball grinds in the socket and I eat Tylenol and Aleve every day. She said your video was great and she was happy about my interest in doing things to help myself, but that they were not tailored to my condition, could hurt more than help and not to do them. I was disappointed to hear that. I am going to keep the video for future as I get older with balance issues. Thank you
Hello from L in Canada. I am still working on these exercises, with some improvements, I’m not stopping,as my balance is poor. I’m 90+ years of age so I have a lot of correcting to do.Plus I have scoliosis. I’m pleased to have found this video. Thank you 😊
God bless you Lucille!!! If you can do it, I know I will be able to do it too and I'm 60 with OA of both hips bone on bone. I need muscle strengthening exercises before possibly looking at hip replacement(s). You are an inspiration!🤗
THIS IS SO HELPFUL, I'VE BEEN DOING THE EXERCISE FOR MY BALANCE,BUT MY KNEE'S ARE MY PROBLEM,I FEEL ON BOTH AT THE SAME TIME AND HAD TO CATCH MYSELF ON BOTH MY HANDS HURTING MY SHOULDER'S ,BUT MY KNEE'S TOOK MOST OF THE DAMAGE.
I am age 83 and believe me, I've had more than my share of physical therapy. You have made this so clear and doable. You got me in a previous video when you mentioned shopping carts...you really got my attention. Im getting a walker and going to my sidewalk quickly. Thank you, so helpful.
Very helpful in gaining confidence after recovering from a bimalleolar fracture to my ankle after slipping over on a wet muddy path one dark might. Many thanks all positive.❤
Hi I realize I do not know your name , however I keep trying these exercises each day and find I am able to stand on my left leg longer than my right , although not quite for the two minutes. I’m not giving up . Remember I’m 90+ years of age , that doesn’t mean I can’t learn. Thank you. LK. from Canada. ❤😊
I am 76 from Portland Oregon. Your site popped up when I was googling "TheSeniorList." And I am so grateful. Your teaching demeaner is perfect for seniors. I appreciated you saying "This may be scary at first but it will get better." However I found the 2 minute duration for each exercise to be too exhausting. But that should improve with time. Also, a point of clarification: In your summary you say exercises in 10 minutes but in reality it is 20 minutes because EACH exercise is 2 minutes. Thank you for helping us and all without having to subscribe. My income is exceedingly low so this is really benefiting me. God bless you.
your video is highly educative. I am 84. After I got knee pain I have some trouble in walking. I feel like losing balance. I will do your exercises. Thank you, Sir.
I LOVE THE DRAMATISATION OF EACH EXERCISE. IT IS SO PRACTICE-FRIENDLY. IT IS NOT OVERWHELMING. NOR DOES IT SEEM CHALLENGING! U MAKE IT SEEM SIMPLY EASY! THANK YOU.
Thank you I still have more problem standing on my right leg than my left, neither are great, but I will certainly keep going. The other parts are easier, but not great. LK from Canada. Also I am 90+ years of age ,but determined to be able to walk reasonably well no matter my age. 😊
I feel I have made a degree of improvement, I have a long way to go yet. I really appreciate this advice and will continue as long as necessary to get to where I want to be I plan to be able to do boogie woogie at some point in time Don’t forget I’m 90+ years of age I don’t give up easily. Thanks for this video. Much appreciated. L K from Canada. ❤❤😊
These are excellent exercises, more difficult than I anticipated. I do suggest that it is important to be upright and not leaning forward as sometimes shown. My PT had harped at me of the importance of not walking or doing exercises leaning forward. That stance is less balanced and encourages shuffling. It helps to engage core muscles, and when standing, imagine pushing upwards through your head.
He has a video which addresses how to stop leaning forward when walking : 7 months ago, 3 :18 minutes. SUCH a BRILLIANT PHYSIO ; as a retired rehab nurse of 84 , I don't look at or practice any other .👏👏👏
I am Sridar jana From pondicherry, INDIA, really your teaching is wonderful sir, I have balance problem after aquesti neuroma, operation that is Cyber knife I have only balance problem sir nearly one year I had walking problem your teaching is more impressive and good Sir, Thank you 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Thank you so much for this, and for actually doing the exercises with the timing shown. It lets me treat it like a class so I don’t have to think about the two minutes.
I think I’m a little better , I can stay balanced on my right leg the longest, but not for 20 seconds yet . I will keep trying though, and don’t forget I’m 90+ years of age. LK from Canada. Thanks. 😅
This is a sensational video. I'm not tech savvy and don't know how to contact you directly. I'm 89 but am in excellent health except my body parts have worn out. Lots of sports and exercised regularly. I just had a knee replacement and the other knee needs replacement. I think my balance issue is due to neuropathy for which they have no cure (I am not diabetic). My biggest balance issue is "elevation change". I don't have the courage of stepping up or down from the street to the sidewalk and vice versa when I have nothing to hold. I use a cane but afraid I will fall taking just a small step of a few inches.
i am enjoying your exercises they are very helpful i hadn't realized how much balance i had lost.... i fell in italy and broke two humorous bones and a femur i am still doing pt and now these at home... thank you so much
Ilove your vedios very clear explanation. Iam doing this excersise thank you allah blessyou and your family. Iam 78 srilankan i can do most of the excersises easily.hoping to improve soon. Thanks
I’m still doing this exercise, with some improvement, I have scoliosis which pushes me to the left-leaning., so I expect I may take a long time to be able to balance on one leg I will not stop, but I am 90+years of age . I wish to be able to do many things I’ve always done, to the best of my ability. Thank you so much. ❤😊. LK from Canada 22:4722:47
I find these to be excellent daily exercises for cervical myelopathy. As you say shifting weight on one side when standing on one foot is quite a challenge and helps with my balance. Thank you.
Thank you very much for making this video. I am working with a trainer at the gym two days a week. She is having me do many of these exercises. She also said I should be doing these exercises at home. I am able to do all of the level 1 and 2 exercised. Do you recommend that I only do level 3 each day, or should I also do level 1 and 2 each day? It is great to have the video to insure that I am doing the exercises correctly. Thanks again!!
Hi I’m so glad I’ve found your channel! Big thank you 🙏 a nasty fall had me feeling very unbalanced recently, but I’m feeling improved slightly each day by doing these exercises. You’re so easy to follow. Thank you 🙏
I am new to your channel. Watched a few videos you have on your channel, thus far. They are excellent. You show clear examples, explain everything well. I have saved this is video today and will try these. Hope to be able to do them every day, as you said. Thank you
This I do practice to with 69 and it is helpful. Greetings from Germany. Because of using muscles not enough last years and undergoing some sicknesses it makes me weak. But now it is getting gradually better with balance and do walk also few thousands steps each das.
Thanks for all. Seems important that looking down as he is adds to problem . Leaning forward towards the ground tilts you toward down Thoughts? one stand head chest lid
Dealing with a genuflects values right knee which takes LOTS of 'work' all day to focus and keep hip/quads strong. Adding these to my list :-). I worked in PT in the 80's-90's and do know the value of these but dealing with the knee pain sure is an emotional battle. TY for putting these out for EVERYone to choose to watch or DO!!
Great Video. Many thanks. But have a question. You talk about different difficulty levels but I don't see an indication of which of the ten exercises belong in which level. Thanks again.
I am not happy with the use of cushions on the chair, quite easy for their frail hands to slide off as they push down toppling over sideways or the cushions slide off the chair . May I suggest using an adjustable bath chair, bath stool or even their walker? Love watching your videos and learning even after 45years of nursing, thankyou for making them.
I am 71 years old. This last February I had a stroke. I woke up with my right side from my foot to my head numb and tingly. I am having a hard time walking. My right foot might as well not even be attached. And it hurts. The thing that makes me the maddest is I had gotten a new car last June and I can't drive it. Do you have any suggestions?
I believe I have Improved a tinny bit, I have trouble standing on my right leg very long,I will keep trying though ,don’t forget , I’m 90+ years of age with scoliosis so don’t rush me ‘….I’m planning on going dancing At some point ,any dancing, waltz, boogie woogie, whatever. Are my expectations too high? LK from Canada. 😅😅
The exercises are great! Actually I found that my balance isn’t as bad as I thought it was! With the sit to stand, as a next step to pushing up with your hands on the chair, I stand with my arms outstretched, rather than folded in front of me. That’s a little easier, and hopefully I’ll soon be able to fold the arms and stand.
Great except one very important detail: do not look downward but strictly horizontally so that every movement will be applied and going on from your center of gravity and not more or less above it that obviously break the balance.....
This is so good such practial ways of getting back on our feet with just good prepared thoughts of what you have shared here.I will share this with friends and family. Now im doing better now weather is better to get out for some movement to stay limber and strong. Bless you!!
This is great and I'd love to see a handout (hard copy) that I could share with my elderly parent. She has no internet and would love to leave her something in writing to follow. Is this available?
I feel my skin of my feet like pulling while moving my foot and toes.iam taking vitamin B12.The heat is very high in Srilanka. Is it due to dehidration?
Thank you so much for this information and instruction. I have had several bad falls in recent years. It makes you feel so helpless and it happens without warning. Suddenly you feel yourself falling and defenseless to break the fall. My question: Is it better to use a hard chair like in the video and avoid sofa, easy chairs, etc. Thank you
Just found you - will definitely start to try these exercises - I have a huge balance problem after breaking my right shoulder, it has been a long road - thank you so much. PG-Canada
Had a stroke a few years ago. Now at 76 I’m still in recovery. Work every day in our large yard. Take my aggressive dog for a tough walk. Squat and do anything that is tough to do. If it is easy to do I make it hard. Everything Hurts but what the hell. I expect to live over a hundred. Find a way to make everything harder no easier.

It’s normal, I think, to find it easier to balance on one leg than the other (as I found when doing Novice ballet)..

Excellent exercises created by someone in tune with an older person's challenges !

My appreciation and thanks for your video on balance exercises!! God bless you.
Excellent program - so useful that there are three levels! Thank you!👏
Brilliant! I think the last exercise is useful for everyone not just the elderly. Thank you!
I’m going to try this as I am always falling, at 90 I thought I was going to keep going over but I’m going to win.
These are the exercises I need for my balance rehabilitation , very helpful videos , thank you

Thank you so much for this. Fantastic program.
I find these to be excellent daily exercises for cervical myelopathy. As you say shifting weight on one side when standing on one foot is quite a challenge and helps with my balance. Thank you.
My PT has me do the #4 and #10 leg stand with my eyes closed. Doing what you suggest seems more practical.

Super advice ,thanks

any chair is fine. Just make sure the height of the seat allows you to stand up without too much difficulty. Use as many pillows as you need.
I like to do chair exercises.
First time watching. Very good video
