  • This is the first time I've ever worked on a multipoint lock system. This is the kind of door hardware that runs the entire span of the door frame and engages at multiple points. The gear was stripped in the gearbox. I'll show a step by step full disassembly and installation.

    Thanks for the video. As you mentioned not a lot of info on multipoint locks online so good to have this as a reference.

    Outstanding video! Just what I was looking for. Suspected stripped out gears, and you showed exactly where and how it’s broken. Saved me taking it apart, getting a replacement instead.

    Cylinder removal on my door with same apparent lockset required an extra step you did not show. In order to turn internal "key" or tongue on cylinder to align with cylinder profile required using thin knife or tool to disengage internal pin. If not done impossible to align cylinder for removal.

    You do not need to remove the top piece. Just unscrew the 2 screws closest to gear box. The gear box and bottom piece will be easily removed.

    Hey Josh, Looks like you did a great job doing this for the first time. Most locksmiths do not want to even mess with any multipoint door lock systems. Next time you need just the Gearbox, let me know. We are Hoppe authorized distributors and can get you the new gearbox in 2-3 days typically. Also, not sure where you are located, but we have customers that need to have their multipoint lock replaced. Would love to steer any work your way. Once again, very nice job on your first Hoppe Lock gear box replacement. Do a couple more and you will be a seasoned professional. Take Care Josh

      Hey Hoppe Locks, I need a new gear box. We have had our Peachtree French out sing door since 2006 and this is the second time it's stripped the gears. Any help you could provide in getting a new gearbox would be greatly appreciated

    Is it possible to just remove the whole multipoint and just keep a single point in the middle?

      @shannonwelch9653 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would love to know as well!! Single point is a lot less expensive to purchase

      The lock set is a separate piece. I'm sure a locksmith can re-key as we've had ours done.

    I know this is an oldie but its the only one I've seen that could help me. That screw you're pointing to @7:33 partly explaines why my key won't lock! I think. I didnt take the strip off and havnt removed the gear box(yet) but when i look inside that little screw space, and poke around , i see there's a little brass part in that that is most likely out of position(It can be turned around inside there)Im wondering do i have to take off the strip to fix it, probably do but advice would be great or if you know that is the problem. Ta.

      It's been a while, so hard to remember, but yes I think you do have to take off the screw to fix it. I would take it apart before you order parts because you'll need to make measurements on the gearbox to get the right one.

    Help.. we have an sec multipoint lock (European style) that has been used and abused thru the years. It sticks pretty bad and in essentially non-functioning. As they run all thru out house (built in 2006) we want to keep all the handles and locks uniform.
    We've called sec and the lady informed us their locks don't break or seiz we don't need a new one.
    I want to replace with new but can't seem to figure out how to get the exact one.. any ideas?

    I also disassembled gearbox to see how damaged gear was. Very poor design. The gear is a cheap diecast part that engages with a brass rack. Engagement is only about 3/16". Yet gear and rack are about 5/16" wide. Imagine the leverage from a 5" long door handle on this tiny die cast gear with only 3/16" contact. Scrap this design. I'll never buy this brand again.
