Bike magazine's Three Divvies Top Speed Challenge

What happens when you give three Bike staff three Yamaha Diversions 600s, a miniscule budget and tell them to go as fast as possible? Apparently you get one tuned engine, one bolt-on nitrous kit and one ludicrous shrink-wrapped streamliner. But which is most effective? There's only one way to find out...

Was it the top speed or as fast as they could go within an allocated distance? One of them appeared to still be accelerating when they gave the "final" reading

Without nitrous oxide it needed a gear change so with nitrous oxide if you don't change the gears or sprocket size you'll just accelerate faster I think that's why he said it was hesitating at the end he probably could have gone 140 or 150 had he change the sprocket size. Maybe faster they all had some form of a fairing

I have a 93 yamaha xj600s and I've had it up to 140 mph with me and my wife on it and all I did was make sure the valves and carburetors were tuned right. Mine would also take off so hard the front wheel would leave the ground even with both of us on it with a combined weight of over 500 lbs between the two of us.

My XJ 600 Diversion (from 1993) runs 118mph (around 190 km/h) without any modifications at all. Was all this work really worth it (besides the fun factor, hehe)? ;)

I got a 92 I'm hunting down the fairings I'm going to see if that helps the aerodynamics mine's like an inversion currently without the fairings the grass is always greener on the other side if it came with fairings I probably be taking them off

118 indicated is probably about 105 with an accurate speedo. They were using a GPS speedo system by the looks of it, bike speedos are notoriously optimistic.

Maelstroma666 yamaha's and this Yamaha in particular has a very accurate speedometer I've tested it at GPS and it's pretty much Dead on Cycle World agrees some bikes like a Ninja 250R off by 10 miles an hour
